What Are UFOs? Terrestrial, Extraterrestrial & Metaterrestrial Theories…

This article was published in New Dawn Special Issue 17 (Sept 2011)

If there’s one thing we learn from studying UFOs, there is no simple answer to what it’s all about. Most of the public – and even many Ufologists – tend to lump together all UFO incidents into a single phenomenon. But the evidence indicates there is no single explanation for all the material categorised under “UFO experience.”

According to author and researcher John White, we are actually looking at a multilevelled phenomenon – terrestrial, extraterrestrial and metaterrestrial – and each is qualitatively different from the others. Each has its own unique forms of UFOs, and each form has to be distinguished from the others of that level.

John White has extensive experience in the fields of consciousness research and paranormal phenomena. He has personally investigated the UFO phenomenon.

John holds degrees from Dartmouth and Yale, and is the author of 15 books. He has lectured at educational institutions and spiritual centres throughout the United States and Canada, and before public and professional organisations.

He is a contributor to a newly compiled collection of the knowledge and insight of the world’s leading experts on modern Ufology. Exposed, Uncovered, and Declassified: UFOs & Aliens reveals startling evidence of famous sightings and contact with aliens, and uncovers classified files from archives.

In the following interview with New Dawn magazine, John White defines ‘UFO’ and outlines three different levels of understanding this mysterious phenomenon that has both a physical and metaphysical dimension.

NEW DAWN (ND): What is the definition of UFO?

JOHN WHITE (JW): I use the one developed by the Mutual UFO Network, or MUFON, which is an international group of lay people and scientists who’ve been investigating the subject for decades. MUFON says UFOs are objects observed in the skies or on the surface of the Earth which defy conventional explanation after a thorough study and investigation by competent people.

Now, lots of sightings have been shown to be due to misperception of more familiar things such as balloons, planets, meteors, satellites, stars, advertising aircraft, falling aerospace debris, and so forth. These are IFOs or identified flying objects. The sightings which are yet to be explained are what MUFON calls daylight discs – objects with unusual lights which are simultaneously tracked visually and on radar at fantastic speeds. Also, some sightings involve objects which leave physical evidence after landing. Still other sightings involve authenticated photographs. And of course there are cases involving visitations or close encounters by humanoids or entities.

The UFO phenomenon is multilevelled and can’t be explained in a unified fashion. Little green men in spaceships with Martian license plates may be part of the puzzle, but that is only one piece of it. There is much more.

    ND: Such as?

JW: In my judgment, the evidence of Ufology falls into three major categories, and so I say there are three “answers” to the UFO problem – three qualitatively different answers. Those answers – all genuine, all real – relate to what can be called different levels of reality or different aspects of our existence.

To put it simply, the levels or aspects are: terrestrial, extraterrestrial and metaterrestrial. Metaterrestrial is a term coined by Dr. J. Allen Hynek, the US astronomer-ufologist. He meant it to denote an unseen world beyond the familiar three-dimensional world we know. (He also coined the term “close encounters of the first, second and third kind.”) This three-part explanation for the UFO problem is the overview I hold. We don’t have time to go into the evidence in detail, so I’ll just sketch it in very broad strokes in order to give an outline of the overview I’ve come to hold of the UFO phenomenon.

    EXTRATERRESTRIAL

I’ll start with the most common idea of what UFOs are, namely, extraterrestrial. It’s most common simply because it’s been around longest and has gradually gained widespread acceptance.

ND: The question is whether there’s any truth to it.

JW: I think there is. In fact, judging from the Humanoid Catalog data base of more than 3,000 modern UFO sightings in which a wide variety of humanoids were present, I regard Earth as one of the major crossroads of local space. Some UFO experiences seem best understood exactly as the public does – namely, as constructed physical vehicles occupied by ETs. The case for the existence of ETs somewhere in the universe has been solidly established over the last five decades by astrobiology, quite apart from the data of Ufology. Astrobiologists are pushing SETI, or the search for extraterrestrial intelligence, by using radio telescopes to listen for signals from space. And although the scientific community, by and large, does not accept Ufology as a colleague discipline, that rejection really is illogical and unscientific. But even that is changing as astronomy discovers planets revolving around other stars than the Sun – and the list of planets is now more than 1,200.

ND: What is the evidence astrobiologists should consider?

JW: There’s the world-famous case of Barney and Betty Hill, which was reported in a 1965 book entitled The Interrupted Journey. For me, the most persuasive aspect of the case is the Hill Star Map.

ND: Tell our readers about it.

JW: While driving on a deserted road near Exeter, New Hampshire in 1961, the Hills were reportedly abducted by small, thin, gray beings with large heads who took the couple aboard a UFO. Betty was shown a hologram-like map of space with the route indicated which the beings followed from their home star to Earth. She saw the route which the aliens followed and she saw it in full 3-D, as if she were looking out a porthole into space.

In 1964, Betty and Barney underwent hypnotic therapy for symptoms which, they discovered, arose from their abduction experience. At the suggestion of their therapist, Boston psychiatrist Benjamin Simon, Betty drew a picture of the three-dimensional map she’d seen on board the craft in 1961. Her map was a flat reconstruction on paper which showed our Sun and other stars from the perspective of the aliens’ home star. When it was published in The Interrupted Journey, an Ohio school teacher named Marjorie Fish saw the picture and got the idea to use an astronomical catalogue of stars to help her build a model of space by stringing beads on a wooden framework. The beads represented stars up to 40 light-years away, accurately placed around the centre, representing Earth, in accordance with the astronomical catalogue data. It took Fish three years, working off and on, to finish her model. When she was done, she looked at it from every angle in an attempt to find the pattern of stars which matched Betty Hill’s map. But she couldn’t find a matching pattern. All her attempts at the time failed.

Then, in 1969, a new catalogue with revised astronomical data made it possible for Fish to construct a more accurate model of nearby space. It took another three years, but when she was done, she found a pattern of beads which matched the pattern in the Hill Star Map almost perfectly. The home base of the aliens appeared to be the star Zeta Reticuli, in the constellation Reticulum, about 37 light-years from Earth. Astronomers and Ufologists debated the matter and it is now settled in favour of Fish rather than being just a random matching of stars.

Now, here’s the reason this is persuasive. The Hill Star Map was drawn in 1964 yet it contained information unknown to anyone on Earth at the time. Fish had to wait until the revised astronomical catalogue was published in 1969, before human knowledge was sufficient for her to construct an accurate representation of local space. So how did Betty Hill get her knowledge of stars in space eight years before the catalogue? Logic tells us that the holographic map she claimed to see aboard a UFO was real and thus the information on which Betty Hill based her map strongly suggests that it was of extraterrestrial origin.

    TERRESTRIAL

ND: What about the second category of UFOs you mention – the terrestrial?

JW: It would be nice if all UFO cases proved to be extraterrestrial in nature, but some are best understood as originating from Earth itself. In other words, these are terrestrial.

Some UFO sightings have taken place at sea and on large bodies of water, and involve craft which observers say burst through the surface of the water and take off into the sky. The late American biologist Ivan Sanderson wrote about this in his book Invisible Residents, which gives the best description of this aspect of the UFO phenomenon. Sanderson felt these sightings might be due to the presence of an undersea civilisation native to Earth. He reasoned that since life began in the sea, when some organisms came ashore it slowed their development while sea-living organisms continued to evolve. Look at cetaceans, Sanderson said. Although porpoises, dolphins and whales are not technological, they are highly intelligent. We humans are able to weld metal under water and we can mix concrete which sets under water. So today there may be advanced forms of sea life more intelligent than humans and capable of UFO technology, living invisibly on Earth under the oceans and other large aquatic bodies. Of course, it may also be that ETs have established undersea bases.

ND: What else is in the terrestrial category?

JW: Some UFO experiences seem best understood as human contact with a lower form of animal life native to Earth’s atmosphere. The discovery of these strange aerial creatures is told in Trevor James Constable’s 1976 book The Cosmic Pulse of Life. He simply calls them “critters.” His text and photographs reveal a class of elemental fauna unknown to official science. These amoeba-like aeroforms are neither solid, liquid nor gas. The exist in the fourth state of matter – plasma – and are normally invisible for several reasons. First, their native habitat is high in the atmosphere far beyond human gaze but nevertheless well below the astronomers’ usual telescopic focus. Second, they are bioenergetically propelled and move at a very high speed – thousands of miles per hour. Last, their usual condition is in the infrared portion of the electromagnetic spectrum. However, they have the capacity to change their density and thereby pass from one level of tangibility to another. Thus, they sometimes do appear in the visible portion of the spectrum where, if seen by humans, they are quickly labelled UFOs – which, of course, they are. But they are not mechanical spacecraft; they are living creatures. They grow anywhere from the size of a coin to at least half a mile in diameter. They give a solid radar return, even though invisible to the naked eye. When they’re visible, they pulsate with a reddish-orange glow. They can change their form, but generally are seen as discs or spheroids. Their diaphanous structure allows a limited view of the interior. When Ivan Sanderson saw Constable’s photos, he said they made him feel like he was looking through a fishbowl. Some critters have been seen close up on the ground in full physical density, according to Constable’s research.

ND: Do you have other evidence for terrestrial UFOs?

JW: Still another plausible terrestrial explanation for some UFO sightings is given in the term “earth lights.” It was coined by the English researcher Paul Devereux in his 1982 book Earth Lights and amplified in his 1989 book Earth Lights Revelations. The books present evidence to show that geophysical activity in crystalline rock structures, especially along fault lines, produces a piezoelectric effect. That subsurface pressure generates electromagnetic fields above the fault lines, and in those fields, hot electrified balls of gas are formed – ionized plasmas. Those ionized plasmas are luminous atmospheric phenomena, and that is what Devereux calls earth lights.

Now, aerial luminosities have been noted throughout history around the world, but their origin has been attributed to supernatural causes and labelled as “will-o’-the-wisp,” ignis fatuus, ghost lights, and so forth. Dr. Michael Persinger, a psychologist at Laurentian University in Canada, and Gyslaine Lafrenière, a research scientist there, demonstrated in their 1977 book entitled Space-Time Transients and Unusual Events that such phenomena may have a terrestrial origin and be capable of inducing many effects in the minds of human observers, depending on their distance from the site, such as have been noted in UFO sightings and even abductions. Devereux and his colleagues’ research, independent of Persinger and Lafrenière’s, has enlarged upon the possibility that tectonically generated earth lights may account for some UFO sightings and mysterious ghostly figures.

This line of research is collectively known as the tectonic strain theory. Geophysicists have investigated this phenomenon for a long time because of reports during earthquake activity that the shaking earth was accompanied by aerial lights. The lights weren’t called UFOs, of course – just strange luminosities which sometimes appeared in association with earthquakes. In the mid-1980s, the US Geological Survey, in its journal Earthquakes and Volcanoes, published the first photo of one ever. It was snapped by someone with enough presence of mind to shoot it during an earthquake here in the US. A vaguely defined ball of light about six feet wide is clearly visible in the air.

So there you have several terrestrial-based phenomena which seem to me to explain some UFO sightings and, except for the possibility of undersea ET bases, they have absolutely nothing to do with craft from outer space. But the list of terrestrial-based explanations needs to be enlarged by one – and a very strange one, indeed. It takes us right up to the border of physical nature and passes over into the metaphysical, or more precisely, into the parapsychological. I’ll call it the psychokinetic explanation.

ND: Psychokinetic? As in mind over matter?

JW: Yes. The Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung is known for his contribution to psychology of the concept he termed “the collective unconscious.” He hypothesised that we human beings have not only a personal unconscious, which Freud demonstrated, we also have a deeper layer of mind which is somehow shared by everyone, and this aspect of our minds includes memories of human experiences from the beginnings of our race. Ancient symbols reside in our minds, such as the Wise Old Man, the Hero and the Evil One, representing the collective experience of humanity in certain basic categories. In his book Flying Saucers: A Modern Myth of Things Seen in the Sky, Jung proposed that UFOs are symbolic projections of deep human yearnings for wholeness and transformation in the collective psyche of humanity. Without denying their physical nature – because, of course, UFOs have been photographed and tracked on radar – Jung speculated that UFOs are either our own psychic projections perceived objectively in the sky or they are the appearance of real objects which afford humans an opportunity to project mythological symbols from deep in the collective psyche. The oldest symbol of wholeness or totality is the circle. So flying saucers, Jung said – those round shining objects in the sky – require a psychological interpretation as a symbol of the human yearning for certainty and completeness in an age of rapid change and uncertainty.

Some UFOs may be the creation of our own minds. Sounds wild, doesn’t it? But there is some research supporting that. In the 1970s, Dr. Gertrude Schmeidler, a parapsychologist at City College of New York, conducted research with the well-known psychic Ingo Swann. In a completely darkened laboratory, she photographed Swann as he used mental intention and his psychokinetic power of mind over matter to envision light streaming from his outstretched arms. Guess what? The photos showed a visible glow around Swann’s hands. So if one person’s mental intention can produce a physical effect such as that, what might the collective intention and unconscious psychic ability which everyone seems to have in some degree produce?

I don’t think that’s far-fetched. In fact, one psychic I know, Stella Lansing of Massachusetts, used to get photos of UFOs which no one else ever saw in the sky. They were beautiful 35 mm colour slides of well-formed, clearly visible, apparently metallic craft. The only problem with her photos was this: in at least one instance which I examined, the image of a UFO extended from one frame across the intervening section of film onto the succeeding frame! Now, as you know, that intervening section of film is not exposed to light from outside the camera. It’s mechanically impossible to do that. There’s absolutely no way those two frames could represent an actual object in space outside the camera. So the image had to have been generated directly inside the camera by Stella’s own psychokinetic power. This psychic phenomenon is called thoughtography, and psychiatrist Jules Eisenbud, who investigated the phenomenon in a man named Ted Serios, has established the case for such mind over matter photography.

This interaction between mind and matter, between the physical brain and the metaphysical mind, and taking place at a distance, points toward the last major category of UFO phenomena which I see as yet another piece of the puzzle.

    METATERRESTRIAL

Metaterrestrial means something which originates outside the ordinary three-dimensional space-time framework in which we normally function. The word is synonymous with metaphysical, meaning “beyond the physical,” but it has a more scientific connotation to it, like hyperspace and quantum space do. Some people call that realm extradimensional, interdimensional, ultraterrestrial and supraphysical. Whatever word we use for it, this category of answer provides evidence that some UFO experiences are due to nonphysical but real entities which come not from other locations in our physical universe but from other sets of dimensions or other realms which interpenetrate our more familiar space-time.

In short, and as Dr. Jacques Vallée first pointed out in his 1968 book Passport to Magonia, many UFO incidents appear to be contemporary versions of what was recorded long ago in mythology, religious scripture and spiritual traditions as encounters with angels, demons and the various inhabitants of other planes of existence. Through a process we don’t understand, these metaterrestrial beings materialise into our space-time from other levels or other realms of reality. Those levels or realms have a wide range of beings which are native to them, just as our own level of reality has creatures ranging from viruses to whales and from algae to redwoods.

I think the best case to illustrate this is the famous miracle at Fatima, Portugal, which occurred in 1917. It’s popularly known in Roman Catholic tradition as “the day the Sun danced” and as “the day the Sun fell” because a brilliant Sun-like object came near the ground. Thousands of people witnessed it.

Some Ufologists regard the Fatima events as a display of advanced technology in which ETs are manipulating human belief systems via holographic projections. I acknowledge that possibility. But there is another tradition – namely, Eastern religion – which offers detailed information about a class of celestial beings whose characteristics are remarkably similar to what was seen at Fatima.

Moreover, some UFO contactees describe meetings with nonphysical entities who materialise into our space-time continuum from other sets of dimensions or higher planes of existence. Those nonphysical entities have been called names such as Space Brothers, extradimensionals and ultraterrestrials, and their existence is said to be on a scale enormously beyond the human, just as ours is beyond that of insects, which in turn are similarly beyond microbes. From the metaterrestrial level of reality, it is said, these higher forms of life influence and even guide human affairs.

The most common name for them is deva, a Sanskrit word which means “shining one” or “radiant being.” It is the conceptual equivalent of what we moderns call an angel. More generally, it means a being of light. Devas are said to belong to another kingdom of life. They are a separately created, very high order of existence which has the role of supervising lower orders. Devas exist in a nonphysical but ontologically real form magnitudes of cosmological order beyond the human level. Considered abstractly in scientifically oriented terms, devas can be described as conscious, formative principles which guide and regulate life forms below them in the ladder of creation or the great chain of being, irrespective of space-time coordinates.

Hinduism and Tibetan Buddhism are especially rich in information about devas. Some signs which announce the presence of these normally unseen entities are the sudden appearance of rainbows and perfume, multicoloured flower blossoms falling from the air, sudden high winds, various celestial phenomena such as shooting stars and lights in the sky, and multicoloured clouds forming themselves into unusual shapes. That sounds a lot like the Fatima UFO to me.

ND: Please sum up what you’ve told our readers.

JW: The UFO phenomenon appears to be multifaceted and there is no neat, simple answer to what it’s all about. In my judgment, the public and even many Ufologists are indiscriminately lumping together UFO sightings and incidents into a single phenomenon. But the evidence indicates that no single explanation can cover all the experiences and events brought together under the label “UFO experience.” It is a multilevelled phenomenon. And each level – terrestrial, extraterrestrial and metaterrestrial – is qualitatively different from the others. Each has its own unique forms of UFOs, and each form has to be distinguished from the others of that level.

Our understanding of the UFO phenomenon can be compared to our evolving understanding of the atom. In ancient Greece, the atom was regarded as the ultimate unit of matter. However, the rise of science demonstrated that the atom was not “rock-bottom reality.” Rather it was composed of protons, electrons and neutrons. Thus, a new level of reality emerged – the subatomic. Continuing scientific research discovered a host of new particles, such as neutrinos, quarks, mesons, bosons, and other exotic forms of matter below that of the atom. Most recently, science has discovered a still more basic or fundamental aspect of reality, the quantum level. Our present understanding regards it as the level from which all the particles and the four fundamental forces – gravity, electromagnetism and the weak and strong nuclear forces – arise.

The UFO experience can be regarded in a somewhat similar manner. There is no single “unit” of the UFO experience. There are different phenomena, outwardly appearing to be the same thing, but actually qualitatively distinct from one another. And they can be classified not only in the horizontal dimension as discrete phenomena, they also can classified vertically as belonging to one or another level of reality.

Only when we understand the UFO phenomenon as multilevelled and multifaceted will we move to a deeper understanding of this intriguing and mysterious topic, and begin to solve the puzzle called the UFO experience.

Alien Abductions and Star Kids: An Interview With Mary Rodwell

The following interview with Mary Rodwell appeared in New Dawn 97. Mary has contributed an article to New Dawn Special Issue Vol 11 No 2 in which she provides information on recent cases and breakthroughs in the area of alien abduction and the Star Kids.

Mary Rodwell, is the Principal of ACERN (Australian Close Encounter Resource Network). She is a counselor, hypnotherapist, metaphysician, former nurse and midwife. Mary has lectured in the USA, UK and Australia. She is the author of Awakening: How Extraterrestrial Contact Can Transform Your Life (2002) and the producer of the EBE award winning documentaries Expressions of ET Contact: A Visual Blueprint? (2000) and Expressions of ET Contact: A Communication and Healing Blueprint? (2004).

ACERN is a professional counseling resource that explores all anomalous experiences as well as speaking to professional traditional agencies about contact reality. Mary’s research explores both the physical and metaphysical implications of contact. This research has demonstrated that for most individuals contact can be a transformative/spiritual experience, where individuals, such as those termed Star Children, become more aware of their multi-dimensional nature.

The interviewer, Tony Mierzwicki is the author of Graeco-Egyptian Magick: Everyday Empowerment and Alien Magick: Exploring the UFO Phenomenon as well as numerous magazine articles and anthology contributions.

Tony Mierzwicki: How real are UFOs? There have been many deliberate frauds over the years that act as a smokescreen over something apparently real. UFOs provide a very easy field to sow with disinformation, as they’re very much on the fringes and inspire numerous B-grade sci-fi movies.

Mary Rodwell: Thomas Kuhn author of The Structure of Scientific Revolutions advises to observe, drop all your preconceived categories as best you can, and just collect raw information. He is correct I believe, because this is the only way we will be open to what we don’t know. Of course, open-mindedness does not equate to gullibility. No-one can be truly objective of course, but the less personal “limits” we have in collating the data the more chance we have of getting at the truth.

Fraudulent information occurs in most subjects we explore, although UFO material has more than its fair share. With all of it I believe it’s about “listening” to our own personal resonance to “truth.”

I believe that there has been a deliberate attempt to instill fear of the ET reality and what it may mean. So that ET means an “invasion” kind of message and we are all going to be exterminated or taken over. What people don’t understand, because they are given an edited version of our history, is that we have been visited for thousands of years and that our DNA has been tampered with many times already by “them.” If they wanted to exterminate or take us over, they have the technology to do it in a nanosecond. So why haven’t they done this? Because they have no desire to, and because we are part of “them,” and their program to help in our evolution.

We attack their spaceships and they don’t retaliate. It’s we who are the aggressors.

As an example of the reality of UFOs, Dr Stephen Greer’s Disclosure DVD put out by the CSETI organisation, has a testimony from a high ranking military man who said a missile which had been sent into space was circled by a UFO and then exploded with an energy beam. The whole event was videotaped, but witnesses were instructed to say that they saw nothing. The DVD has two hours of interviews with high ranking military personnel, pilots, etc who have seen UFOs visually and through radar, crashed craft and the beings themselves. They admit to the cover up and many corroborate each other’s statements.

Tony: Your research appears to indicate that many alien encounters are positive and of a beneficial nature. While this is certainly the case in some reference material I have perused, there are numerous researchers who believe that abductions are very traumatic to the “experiencers.” How would you resolve such a contradiction?

Mary: I think a contradiction is only present if you see this as either or. I think it’s hard to say there is any black and white to this question. The contact phenomenon is extremely complex and no one person/researcher, no matter how well informed, has the mandate on this. All I can do is report what I have found with my clients and honour their understanding and experience. But I have found though that often what they have believed was a negative experience has not always proved to be so when we have explored it more deeply via hypnosis.

I like to quote from Albert Einstein in my presentations, “Whoever sets himself up as judge in the field of truth and knowledge is shipwrecked by the laughter of the Gods.” I am afraid that many researchers find it hard to have a neutral perspective, as ultimately they will try and head their research to the hypothesis that suits their own judgements. I try to keep to the data I receive and it has often surprised me. I have learnt that the truth is often multifaceted in nature, not so black and white as we would like it to be. I look for patterns.

If the hypnotherapists are only covering the barest outline of the experience, time/date, how many beings were present, and what procedures were being done, then the individual may be very fearful because they do not know what was happening or why such things were being done to them. Hence, this would impart negativity to the experience.

In limited exploration, the individual is re-exposed to the trauma without the understanding that should come with this. It is only when the individual understands more fully what’s going on, that they can then come to terms with it and integrate it. Consider for example a three year old boy taken to the doctor for an injection. You tell him that the doctor will make him better, but he just experiences pain. It’s only when he is older that he finally understands what went on.

I ask the client to dialogue with “them,” i.e. the ET’s, and ask “them” what, and why, the procedure was being performed. The answers would amaze you.

Tony: So your clients can dialogue retrospectively? This is very interesting if true, as it would tie in with quantum theory’s ideas of the non-linearity of time.

Mary: For sure. I was very surprised when my first client was able to do this, as it seemed that the information came from either a “deep inner awareness,” or as you say a way of tapping into quantum. I am still trying to unravel how this may happen in terms of science. All I know is that they seem to tap into answers for their questions when working in the altered state, whether this comes from a higher consciousness which some call the higher self, or the ET beings have left the information to be tapped into when needed.

For me the most important thing is that it is always profound and helpful to the individual, in that their psyche or higher senses translate this information in a way that makes sense to them.

I believe that linear time is a human construct, and many “experiencers” say the same thing. For example, Tracey Taylor states, “Time for them is irrelevant in the linear format that the average human understands.” I certainly believe that we bypass the linear format of time when in an altered state, and that is possibly why the individual can access dialogue with the beings even though I have regressed them to what is perceived as a future event.

Tony: This is confusing. You say that abductions are often for the experiencer’s benefit? But what about all the cases of rape, endoscopes, and taking scoops of human tissue?

Mary: Certainly some ET procedures are for the collection of genetic material, and for scanning/examining tissue for planetary pollution held in the human tissues etc. We have polluted our planet and everything we eat or drink carries with it the poisons from our environment into our physical body. These cumulative toxins are picked up and analysed by our ET visitors. Experiencers are told this.

To quote Tracey Taylor again, “As far as my Contact experiences, I became very compassionate towards the ET beings, as there is so much humans can learn and benefit from interacting with them. I was ‘fearful’ of my experiences only when I didn’t know what was happening and why. But there has always been an equal exchange. I helped them achieve their genetic goals and in return I received my healing and psychic ability, plus my understanding of Earth has been enhanced. Basically at the start I misunderstood the ‘grays’. The knowing ET part of me initially made a decision to assist them and the understanding of this can be overshadowed with the fear which stems from our limited human perceptions and reactions to these experiences.”

I believe many of the ET races have a very strong interest in us as a species and our evolution and they are part of it as we share a genetic heritage with them. I have found that with different species of ETs, the more strange or confronting looking ones are not necessarily evil or negative. This includes the reptilians/lizard ones for example, because some people have experienced very loving exchanges with them.

Tony: But what about the rape issue? Would anyone consent in advance to rape?

Mary: I believe this is a complex issue that depends on what level you choose to understand it. From soul level, before birth we choose our challenges and experiences for our coming life. (I have come to believe this through regressing people into past lives.) This includes all our experiences, obviously traumatic and otherwise. The soul through this gains greater understanding. So although through life we may perceive some experiences like this as hurtful or negative, it’s through such a process we have the opportunity to understand ourselves better. This is true for all experience. So on this level you may well consent to this experience (i.e. rape) if it offered you insights you would not gain otherwise.

As I said, from soul level I believe we are co-creators of our reality, and that life is a school for growth and understanding. Some may well choose the ET experience as a way of helping them to grow.

But for those who cannot go to a “bigger picture” with their experience, I will help them work through the trauma to a more healing perspective.

When I have hypnotically taken an individual to the death sequence and they pass over, they speak about their lessons and learning from that life. And when contemplating a new life they take this into consideration.

Michael Newton in his books Journey of Souls and Destiny of Souls discusses soul groups and how they choose to interact with each other for learning, even to being the perpetrator in one life to the victim in another, as a growth exercise. Newton was initially skeptical about the material he collated. He has regressed hundreds of people to their “in between lives” state as souls, and they describe what happens to them as souls. The fact is despite what belief system they have, they all come up with strikingly similar material.

    Tony: What about endoscope examinations?

Mary: Endoscopes are used as a medical exam just as in human hospitals. So this information changes what people feel about the experience. It seems to make a lot of sense to them.

Tony: I suppose it depends on how painful the whole thing is. People tend to not mind painless tests.

Mary: I agree but maybe on some level they want the memory of the pain to be a reminder that this is a reality so that it’s not dismissed. It could be another way of waking people up.

Tony: That’s very gnostic. One of the central teachings of the gnostics was that humanity is asleep and needs to be awakened so that their return to the transmundane deity might commence. Gnostic myths would often include some sort of saviour figure to awaken sleepers.

Mary: Yes. I believe this experience acts like a “trigger” to an awakening of consciousness. I think the “saviour” is our self. People realise this when they are ready to take on that truth.

Kenneth Ring in his book Beyond Omega states that the UFO phenomenon is a evolutionary shamanic experience to “wake us up.”

There is some evidence (see Dr Stephen Greer’s Disclosure Project) that some of the more negative interactions are not necessarily of ET origin, but a human manipulated ET experience to give us a negative view of ETs.

This is one of the hidden human agendas concerning a cabal to discredit the whole ET phenomenon and lead us into fear of them so that we will accept the “Star Wars” program. It’s a very complex phenomenon. Whether we like this or not, it’s part of the human/ET phenomenon and the cover up.

There is no doubt some individuals have experienced trauma from their encounters. But in my research, perhaps as many as 60-70 %, have the more positive encounter experiences. And even with those who are traumatised, often when they understand their encounter experiences they can change their mind into a positive framework. They discover a consentient, even pre-life, agreement to the encounters and the gain of greater awareness that follows such interaction, which often negates their previous fears. They may discover they have had a healing on the craft or that they are being “taught things,” and that the experience is for their ultimate growth and awakening.

Tony: I’ve heard of pre-life agreements in New Age circles, but have never heard of them applied to abduction scenarios.

Mary: This is because many Ufological researchers, just don’t go there or ask such questions. Their focus is information to fit their third dimensional and scientific research. They are not therapists and do not have this person-centred focus. My mandate has always been to help the individual make sense of their “journey” first. Research comes second to that.

I help clients to trust and honour the wisdom of the super-conscious self and what it reveals to them for their personal growth and understanding. In regression I ask if on any level the individual has “consented” to such an experience and it’s fascinating to discover that often they have consented, as I said often it’s a pre-birth agreement. This is a most important question for their personal growth as you must realise it takes them from “victimhood” to being aware of their own multidimensional life/soul journey. I ask my clients to go with their personal feelings rather than what others tell them, and to trust that inner resonance.

[alert type=”info” dismiss=”no”]If you appreciate this article, please consider a subscription to New Dawn magazine.[/alert]

Tony: Skeptics believe that the whole abduction phenomenon can be explained through a combination of sleep paralysis and hallucination, with hypnotists implanting false memories by imposing their belief system on experiencers.

Mary: Yes, I know about the false memory syndrome and obviously one has to be careful with the technique and not lead the client. But having said that I have tried an exercise where I have deliberately tried to lead the client, but they would have none of it and corrected me. So I don’t think it’s as easy to mislead or implant as it’s made out to be.

There are many misconceptions related to hypnosis. For many, the alpha state is no more trance-like than watching an absorbing program on TV. It is firmly believed too, that no hypnotist can get any individual to act against his or her will.

In truth, I ask the client what they see, I don’t tell them what to see. This process helps them to re-visit the experience. Often both I and the client have been amazed at the information that we have obtained.

Dr. John Mack (former Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard University) said he believed that information gained by hypnosis was even more accurate than conscious memory as the conscious memory can edit out what it doesn’t want to acknowledge. I agree with him.

Tony: Skeptics will criticise anything received in an altered state, claiming it to be dream-like.

Mary: Skeptics can say what they like, and why does “dream like” make the data incorrect? Many of them haven’t worked in this field and so it’s like a soldier telling a surgeon how to operate! All I know is the material makes sense to the individual and often I have other individuals who will confirm this data in their altered state. As I said before, I look for patterns of data.

None of the hypotheses of skeptics explain:

    • metallic implants in the body (for example those removed by surgeon Dr. Roger Leir in The Aliens and the Scalpel);
    • marks on the body that fluoresce under ultraviolet light;
    • 18 month old children who remember being taken, who are clearly not Star Trek fanatics or having sleep paralysis;
    • many people “taken” are not asleep, as it can happen in broad daylight when driving a car;
    • “missing time” episodes;
    • whole families are sometimes involved.

There is a story of one 18 month old child going to a bookcase, taking out a book on Alien Abductions, and telling her mum “this is the man who comes and gets me.” At eighteen months of age, they don’t listen to talk shows! The kid’s testimony is profound. I speak about this more during my presentations and in my book in the chapter on Star Kids.

Regarding missing time, some people may feel disorientated and be aware on some level something happened but that’s all. It’s fascinating and many times through regression you find out what happened to them. Sometimes they find themselves in the same spot and sometimes many kilometres away. Some of these people have flashbacks to the events which can happen when “buttons” are pressed in everyday life such as being in a lift, or faced with an injection, or at the dentist’s. These traumas can take them back to the images of an alien craft (there is a detailed questionnaire in my book). Phobias such as arachnophobia or agoraphobia can sometimes be related to this experience. Hypnosis is the most useful tool, although many do have conscious memories on the craft.

Tony: I have come across multiple references to Dr. Leir’s book. It’s funny that some people say there are implants whereas the skeptics say there are none.

Mary: Exactly, they haven’t done their research. Leir’s work is fully documented. I actually know Roger very well and had him come over from the USA to speak at Perth’s first Hidden Truths conference two years ago.

Tony: Once you have physical implants, then all the psychological theories go out the window – to explain all cases that is. You then have to admit the reality of the abduction phenomenon for at least some people.

Mary: Exactly, that’s it. But it’s amazing how even this fails to convince some people. It’s because of fear! Fear of change, and of having to re-appraise reality perspectives. But all experiencers have to do that to survive.

Tony: Have you been abducted? Is this perhaps what got you onto your path of helping others?

Mary: This is a question I have been asked many times. The truth is I have not been “consciously” aware of being taken. I do not have the classic indicators but that does not mean I have not. Some individuals I know have told me they have seen me on an alien craft and two of my children certainly have “indicators,” so it’s more than possible. I do know that I have absolutely no fear of “them” or this phenomenon at all.

Tony: The thing that strikes me about the whole UFO abduction phenomenon is that so much of it is dream-like.

Mary: I believe that ETs use this altered dream-like state to access people. If they were fully conscious they may well resist and many say that the “grays” particularly are very physically vulnerable. But those who have the experience say it’s not like a normal dream, and so they know the difference.

Tony: Much has been written about alien breeding programmes aimed at producing a hybrid race. The “Star Kids” are supposed to be one result of these programmes.

Mary: Certainly I believe many ET races are interested in our genetic make up because many of them have been involved in it right from the beginning. See Zecharia Sitchin’s work The Earth Chronicles.

We have a reptilian part to our brain, and so many believe they have a genetic mix with the reptilian/lizard species of ETs.

Many experiencers who have interacted with ETs say they have felt love and emotion from some of them. I believe we have reached a critical time in our evolution and the sense is that if we don’t get it right we could destroy ourselves before we become part of the galactic community. I don’t fear that “they” will wipe us out, but that we will do it to ourselves. We have so much growing up to do, I just hope we get it before it’s too late.

When I talk at conferences I find people very interested in the New Human Star Child hypothesis. The main interest is from older individuals who are seeing that the children being born now are different, so it fits with their experience.

The Star Kids are aware that they are a mix of human and ET genes. They are here to help mankind to make an evolutionary leap though “interaction” with them. They are bringing the frequencies for this to happen. Many of these Star Kids know their mission, although they find it difficult being in the density of their physical body.

Dr. Leir believes that changes in humans with respect to higher psychological functioning (i.e. walking, talking, etc) from 40 years ago are accelerated up to 60-80%, and this is occurring from birth. He believes that this is due to alien intervention in our body and minds (not better pre-natal care or exposure to complex machinery). Logically the pollutants in our atmosphere and food would see a diminishing of this, but it seems despite these handicaps we are still evolving.

We are all seeking, at some level, a raising of consciousness, we are all helping each other until we all get there (i.e. the hundredth monkey syndrome). I believe the Star Kids are here to help on that consciousness level.

My DVDs feature scripts, languages and artwork produced by Star Kids, as they act as a conduit for it. This material is of a holographic multidimensional nature and many people feel different after viewing it.

  • Crop Circles: Messages from Another World?

Crop Circles: Messages from Another World?

    From New Dawn 155 (Mar-Apr 2016)

If there were a hazard meter capable of measuring the precariousness of human survival on planet Earth, the needle would surely be pointing deep into the red zone. James Lovelock, father of the Gaia hypothesis, predicts that within the next hundred years 80% of humanity will have been wiped out. The unstoppable juggernaut of global warming and its concomitant catastrophes, he says, will utterly decimate our species. Moreover, effective interventions are no longer feasible, and what is now inevitable cannot be undone. Hopefully, Lovelock concludes, the small portion that survives “Armageddon” will have finally learned to live in harmony with nature and the environment. It will be a new beginning: a species that will have re-modelled itself, not so much through technology as through severe pain, loss and hardship.

Assuming that Lovelock may be right on this one, are there currently alien forms of life observing us and monitoring our perilous situation? Are there, as some appear to believe, aliens now living in our midst, collaborating with covert military and governmental agencies, perhaps even darkly precipitating these events? Or are there, conversely, communications softly whispered to us from inter-dimensional entities attempting to assist us, even at this late hour? Or again, is this all just in our heads, nothing but the froth and fantasy of human delusion?

To attempt to answer seriously the burning question of human-alien interaction, we need first to consider whence the word alien originates, and how language, as substrate and vehicle of human consciousness, can as easily give rise to phantoms and fears as insight and understanding. The word itself derives from the Latin word alienus, which signifies something (or someone) strange, foreign and fundamentally other. In the United States, the intermediate status between an illegal immigrant and a full-fledged citizen is termed resident alien. Such an individual has the right to work and reside in the country but not to vote. The resident alien is given a “green card.” It always struck me that there must be something in the American psyche linking green cards with little green men.

What we deem to be alien is, unconsciously, seen by us as foreign, impenetrable, untrustworthy, thus capable of betrayal. What is truly dangerous, however, is our habit of casting other human beings as truly other than us. Whenever the word alien is uttered, there is always a shadow of fear and potential violence. At the same time, history has taught us that other human beings, and that includes ourselves, are not to be trusted. Why, therefore, would we not be deeply fearful of real aliens?

The concept of the Grays and Reptilians of alien origin masquerading as humans, deviously operating from seats of power behind the scenes, has gripped certain sections of the popular imagination, but this is nothing more than pulp fiction playing on deep-seated, infantile fears. Such phobias within the population actually are highly useful to the shadowy forces within the Deep State that cleverly employ the subterfuge of malign alien presences and strange UFO incursions in order to deflect attention away from secretive, super hi-tech, and highly classified military experiments.

Those who control the reins of fear control history and world events. Certainly, the twentieth century’s dark history of disenfranchisement, from the internment of Japanese Americans during World War II to the current, very real threat of summarily corralling hundreds of thousands of Muslim Americans en masse and placing them in FEMA camps, demonstrates the interplay of racially driven fears, totalitarian reflexes and connotations surrounding the concept of the alien.

One could also say that the Native American population, and similarly the indigenous Australian peoples (amongst others), were historically targeted for destruction or exploitation by conquering military or corporate invaders. The original inhabitants were seen as irredeemably alien, if not sub-human. The entire global history of colonisation, missionary zeal, enslavement and genocide, as famously depicted in Conrad’s novel, Heart of Darkness, revolves around the perception of the racially other as fundamentally alien, inferior and requiring redemption. This was obviously the rationale behind Hitler’s “Final Solution.”

Before we probe further into etymology and the interweaving of language, history, psychology and geopolitics, let’s rewind the spool and time-travel backwards into the mists of prehistory. Aeons ago, wide-eyed and tremulous, our pre-hominid forebears emerged from thick tangles of jungle under whose cover they’d swung or timidly crept, dimly aware there existed vaster worlds beyond the familiar forest canopy. They then stumbled upon a stone strewn wilderness of dancing grasses littered with new dangers and opportunities. Propelled by an irrepressible inner destiny, which scholars would later call “evolution,” as early man stepped out tentatively on to the scorched savannahs, he encountered night as never before, wide-open and naked, as though for the first time. Used to seeing the glowing eyes of nocturnal predators within the thick drapery of vines and foliage, here, with the shock of the new, he would see, unclothed in all its awesome enormity and strangeness, the full moon and the firmament replete with innumerable watchful presences each moving with a precise, coordinated logic utterly different from the movements of animals, winds, water or other things of this earth. Here was the crucible of an ineffably superior order, of a slowly nascent conception of astrological powers and later on of astronomy, of man’s hauntingly nostalgic sense of his own lost extraterrestrial origins.

Above him unfurled windswept swathes and rising gulfs of air, driving him to seek refuge in caves. But what refuge could he possibly find from these great lanternous gyres? The mysterious turnings in the deep blue-blackness stirred the contemplative mind of our ancestors, stimulating the explosive growth of the cerebral cortex. For we urgently required more thinking capacity to examine this new, hieroglyphic nature of reality. Man’s symbol-making mind was being birthed beneath the stars. And these stars helped him navigate, not just on earthly pathways, as a nomadic tribal being, but also inwardly, as a traveller of the mental dimensions, and as a seeker. The night gave rise to terrors, but also to the sublime, the ethereal, the intellectual and, most importantly, as far as we are here concerned, to the feeling that we humans are not alone: there exists a bridge between the higher and the lower realms.

All this would be articulated in the ziggurats of the early Mesopotamian people, the raised promontories of the Mayans and, somewhat later, the tall thin spires of Gothic cathedrals; later still, in the ensuing scientific age, super-sensitive antennae perched atop questing satellites and far-flung space probes.

    The Vatican Checking for Aliens?

Today, even the Vatican owns, and runs, a private astronomical observatory. Why would the Holy See construct a sky-scouring facility in the Arizona desert? The Vatican Observatory, overseen by Brother Guy Consolmagno, direct appointee of Pope Francis himself, incorporates the so-called Vatican Advanced Technology Telescope. In the director’s own words, the purpose is to joyfully study the glory of the stars, crown jewels of the Lord’s creation:

All the science we do, and all the outreach we do, reflects a quality that motivates everything we do in astronomy: a sense of joy. The stars are glorious, and it’s a treat to be engaged in their study. Their glory proclaims the Glory of their Creator!

That, at least, is the official version. But the Vatican has centuries of strategic survival instinct to draw on, and would not want to be caught with its “pants down.” For if advanced alien life forms were detected, or suddenly communicated with us on planet Earth, the viability of any religious ideology would rely on it being able to seamlessly assimilate this new “exo-biblical” factor. The Vatican Observatory surely shows just how seriously the Catholic Church is taking the idea of imminent human-alien interaction.

Many writers and scholars have proposed extraterrestrial links to very early human civilisations whose prowess, in many respects, far surpasses our own, despite, or perhaps because of no extant evidence of what we would term technological tools. This begs the question as to whether more advanced techniques, impervious to our current knowledge, were employed. When, for example, university research projects in Peru attempted to replicate the precise stone-cutting of pre-Inca builders, their results proved to be embarrassing failures, even with the use of modern power tools and advanced computer software.

Today we have convinced ourselves that modern humans can 3-D print just about anything we wish, yet we ourselves have not the faintest clue as to how the stones for ancient megalithic constructions were cut and fitted, let alone transported to their final destination sites. The sarsen stones of Stonehenge along with other sacred megalithic constructions remain impenetrable enigmas. There must be something very irritating here for the scientific mind – which too easily degrades itself into the arrogant scientistic mind – that these riddles have not yet been solved. For those outside the mainstream, a preferred explanation tends to be there was help “from above”; that is, extraterrestrials sojourning on Earth collaborated or advised in the construction and development of early human civilisations.

Today there are multiple bursting files of “evidence” and sworn affidavits by persons highly ranked within the military as to interactions with alien spacecraft and/or alien beings. The so-called Disclosure Project was designed to collate and integrate as much of this evidence as possible. Yet the attempt to persuade the general public always gets stymied by officialdom itself. Thus, hearsay, conspiracy theory, claims and counterclaims end up inducing a paradoxical mix of credulity and disbelief in the average Joe. This, we must understand, is very much to the benefit of whoever is trying to control public opinion.

What is actually going on? Is there any way of penetrating all the manipulated projections and mind control without falling prey to irrational speculation?

    The Crop Circle Connection

Whilst there seems to be a very dark and militaristic aspect to human-alien interaction, to my mind, one of the most intriguing and compelling arenas of human-alien communication has been crop circles. The almost spontaneous delivery of these ciphers, or cryptograms, as much as the actual content they encode, gives one the sense of a downstreaming of intelligent communication from another dimension. The ugly attempts to ridicule them as hoaxes perpetrated by pranksters is utterly unconvincing when one compares the refined geometric elegance of a genuine circle with a known fraudulent one. The deliberate disinformation from official sources has been exposed in the writings of longtime researchers such as Freddy Silva in his book Secrets in the Fields.1

With crop circles we are not necessarily dealing with three dimensional alien beings residing far away on exoplanets. Such mainstream, rational versions of alien life aboard sister earthships are quite conventional and are naively based upon the premise that other regions of the cosmos, due to purely mathematical probability, would have allowed for the emergence of exotic yet fundamentally comparable versions of ourselves. Here, instead, we seem to be dealing with invisible, intangible fields of intelligence, capable of creating extraordinary ciphers and delivering them to us by altering the molecular and electromagnetic structure of stalks of wheat. The sense we have been getting, for over three decades, is of someone trying to tell us something, or show us something, or, perhaps, remind us of something. Most importantly of all, the impetus to communicate, the sense of urgency is coming from them, not from us. What are “they” trying to tell us?

The two Chilbolton formations appeared in August 2011 near the Chilbolton Observatory in Hampshire, UK. Are extraterrestrials trying to tell us something or show us something? Photo Copyright: Lucy Pringle, www.lucypringle.co.uk

2001 was the year, we are often reminded, that our world irrevocably changed when the Twin Towers came crashing down on that fateful September 11th day in New York. But it was also the year that, near Chilbolton Observatory in Hampshire, UK, two astonishing crop circles, or rather, crop rectangles, appeared. What is even more interesting is that these were first sighted on the morning of Tuesday, August 21st, exactly three weeks before the mega-attack in Manhattan occurred. Is this a coincidence, or is there some synchronicity involved?

The two Chilbolton formations consisted of, on the one hand, a section of binary code reminiscent of a computer chip and, on the other, a blurry humanoid face within a rectangular frame measuring 44m by 57m. The wheat stalks composing the face were bent in such a way as to make the image appear pixilated with heavily overhung brows, deep sockets, and an inscrutable demeanour. The Chilbolton face is, above all, emotionless. Looking back at it now, would it be off the mark to suggest that it conjures up a spectral reflection of what we have today become beneath the thin veneer of our civilisation, in a world racked by incessant wars, internecine conflicts, drone attacks and desensitised acts of extreme brutality?

Or is it a kind of identikit portrait, sent for our perusal, of an actual alien race from a far-off galactic zone?

As for the “computer chip” segment, it contained a message. This message was decoded by Paul Vigay, a computer expert who back-linked it to a coded signal originally sent out by SETI on November 16th, 1974, from the Arecibo Observatory in Puerto Rico. SETI had aimed its coded message at a star cluster known as M13 in the Hercules constellation. The purpose of the outgoing message was to deliver technical information about life in our Solar System to intelligent aliens who, it was hypothesised, if they existed, would most likely be capable of decoding it. The Arecibo radio signal had been delivered in binary code with a total of 1679 pulses.

The returning signal, if authentic, appeared to provide reciprocal information about the alien species within M13, including its population (21.3 billion) and the high prevalence of silicon in its periodic table, suggesting to some interpreters that these aliens sending us back their own encoded messages may be cyborgs or robots.

    Alien “portrait” at Sparsholt

The impressive 2002 Sparsholt formation, a rendition of our common projection of an alien, ET or Gray. Copyright: Lucy Pringle, www.lucypringle.co.uk

Hardly another year had passed before yet another formation, again in Hampshire but this time at Sparsholt near the town of Winchester, appeared. It consisted of a “portrait” within an even larger rectangle, about 120m in length.2 The huge rectangle framed a clear rendition of our common cultural projection of an alien, ET or Gray. Looking at it gives one the distinct feeling this is a highly intelligent and refined, also deeply ironic, form of communication. Unlike the Chilbolton “portrait,” instead of a pixilated image, the Sparsholt “portrait” evokes an image on an old cathode ray TV screen. For, when viewed from above, the figure we see in the field is composed of clearly delineated horizontal lines.

Thus the Sparsholt portrait is clearly intended to be interpreted as a projection from an undetectable alien source. This projection has itself been projected as if it were a TV image. Not only that but this small screen image suggests the producers are thoroughly aware of how we humans project outwards from our culturally manipulated unconscious, clichéd visual renditions of what aliens are “supposed” to look like. All of these factors lead one to suspect that whoever produced this crop rectangle at Sparsholt knows far more about us than we could possibly imagine. And that this knowledge “they” have of us is not limited to the type of information encoded in the original SETI radio signals which focused on external data such as Earth’s global population back in 1974, the atomic numbers for elements constituting the basic constituents of organic life in our Solar System, the composition of the DNA molecule, the height of the average human, and the Arecibo telescope itself from which the original, outgoing message was dispatched. No, the Sparsholt formation appears to show us that the emitters can read our minds, can penetrate our unconscious imaginal codes, not merely our rational, science-based ones. At Sparsholt, we may be presented with evidence of extraterrestrial insight into human psychic functioning, relayed back to us as a riddle to be solved. To put it most unequivocally, this Hollywood head-and-shoulder rendition of an ET in the rectangular frame does not attempt to represent what distant aliens look like; on the contrary, it reveals to us how we ourselves project names and forms outwardly from our own unenlightened understanding and semi-superstitious modes of perception, exactly as did the chained prisoners in the story of Plato’s Cave.

But there is more: offset from the huge rectangular framed portrait at Sparsholt and perched on the ET’s left shoulder in such a way that it literally breaks through the lateral perimeter of the frame, is a wide disc encrypted with bits of binary coded information. When the experts finally deciphered the contents of this disc, what messages did they find? Paul Vigay, already mentioned in a previous paragraph, set about the work of deciphering the disc with an open, inquisitive mind. It struck him at first that the binary disc reminded him of the notched metal plates inside old Victorian music boxes, then of cymatics and later of planetary grid systems. Very soon, however, Vigay came to discern a semantic content encrypted into the disc. By invoking the “bits per byte” methods of notation commonly used by computer programmers, Vigay was quickly able to translate the disc’s outwardly spiralling sequence of raised and flattened tufts of wheat into text. What emerged was the following:

Beware the bearers of FALSE gifts and their BROKEN PROMISES. Much PAIN but still time. (Damaged word.) There is GOOD out there. We OPpose DECEPTION. Conduit closing (BELL SOUND).3

What can we conclude from these enigmatic words? I suggest this message is a cryptic call to that part of humanity that remains capable of hearing what the Greeks called the Music of the Spheres; almost a command, although delivered as a whisper, just as the Music of the Spheres was not so much a sound as an inner harmony between parts. Nonetheless, a call to arms, on the level of the heart and the mind, a reminder of our individual spiritual responsibility. If there is a side to human interaction with aliens which, whether real or imagined, focuses on predation, abduction, conquest and exploitation, there is also this gentle voice exhorting us to stay vigilant, lucid and receptive; to retain our grip on the wheel of reality by staying true to a deeper vision.

    Archons & Ahriman

The entire alien-interaction theme brings to mind the Gnostic concept of archons, and in particular Ahriman, that master meddler and deceiver. It maybe that the contrasts between light and dark, inspiration and terror streaming out of the extraterrestrial sphere articulate the esoteric Manichean tensions between good and evil entities, and the effects of forces which are inimical to our spiritual and existential growth. One could perhaps say that these forces are not truly situated somewhere else but reside within the human heart, and that the human heart, with its potentially limitless scope of understanding, encompasses both opposing extremes.

Rudolf Steiner, in one of his lectures on Lucifer and Ahriman, has this to say on the subject:

If the right stand is to be taken to Ahriman’s future incarnations, people must become far more objective where their own impulses are concerned, and far, far more subjective where the external world is concerned – not by introducing pictures in fantasy but by bringing interest, alert attention, and devotion to the things of immediate life.4

Since we first ventured out, many millions of years ago through that verdant curtain at the forest’s edge, we humans have stumbled, and occasionally swaggered through trials, challenges, conquests, epiphanies and corruption, searching endlessly for our own peculiar destiny. Indeed, it is only recently we have become aware that the very stars above us must, like us, perish, they too have their share of conflicts and will eventually be extinguished, transforming into red giants or white dwarfs, or collapsing into limitless, hyperdense black holes of forgetting and nothingness. In our hearts we carry both love and hatred, both the Christ impulse and the Ahriman or Luciferian impulse.

The innumerable snowflakes that have fallen around us since that first intrepid and fateful venturing out on to the open plain have threatened our survival with the promise of terminal cold, but they have also delivered tiny, inimitable packets of cosmic perfection, of which the mysterious crop circles are fantastic elaborations. We ourselves are nothing but extraterrestrials stranded on a distant planet. We shall find our longed for origins in the sky only by rediscovering that way back home here on Earth.

  • Credo Mutwa & the Alien Agenda: UFOs & Alien Abduction in the Eyes of a Zulu Shaman

Credo Mutwa & the Alien Agenda: UFOs & Alien Abduction in the Eyes of a Zulu Shaman

    From New Dawn 111 (Nov-Dec 2008)

The Zulu sangoma (a shaman or healer) and high sanusi (clairvoyant and lore-master) Vusamazulu Credo Mutwa (Editor’s note: Credo Mutwa passed away in 2020) is recognised by many as one of the most distinguished African traditional healers. He is, in fact, the spiritual leader of the sanusis and sangomas of South Africa.

As well as being a successful artist, author and historian, Mutwa is also an outspoken victim of alien abduction, having allegedly been in contact by entities his people call the mantindane (‘the tormentors’), which are similar in nature to what we in the English speaking world call ‘the grays’. Stories of UFOs and alien beings make up a big part of African tribal culture, he says.

    Awakener of the Zulus

Mutwa was born on July 21, 1921 in the South African province of Natal. The name Vusamazulu means ‘awakener of the Zulus’, and was appointed to Mutwa during his initiation as a sangoma. Mutwa means ‘little bush man’, and Credo means ‘I believe’. Born out of wedlock, Mutwa was considered “an illegitimate child, a child of shame.” Because his mother, who was descended from a long line of medicine men and women, refused to convert to Christianity, Mutwa’s parents separated shortly after his birth. Thus he was primarily raised by his Roman Catholic father, who frequently travelled from place to place, working as a builder.

Mutwa claims that much of the knowledge he now possesses – of art, science, medicine, engineering and so on – can be attributed to the fact that, when he was child, he was taught by “strange companions.” These “little people,” he says, some of whom were blue in colour, used to make their presence known to other children as well. In fact, “all African children used to see such things.” Thanks to the help of these beings, he says, he was often more knowledgeable than some of his teachers at school.

When, in 1937, Mutwa was brutally raped by a gang of mineworkers outside a mine compound, he experienced “a great shock and trauma,” remaining ill for a very long time. He developed a feverish condition, accompanied by nightmares and visions, which caused great pain and debilitation, and which, he says, almost killed him. It also caused him to become highly psychic, and he was sometimes able to read the minds of those around him, as well as perceive auras. The treatment he received from European doctors and Christian faith healers didn’t help at all.

Shortly afterwards, Mutwa was brought to his mother’s village in Zululand, where his grandfather, Ziko Shezi, a sangoma and warrior – “whom my father despised as a heathen and a demon worshipper” – brought him back to health using traditional African methods. Mutwa was told by his grandfather that the illness he had undergone “had actually been a sacred illness which required that I had to become a shaman, a healer.” Mutwa agreed, and, having renounced Christianity, was initiated into the shamanic path by his aunt Myrna, a fully fledged sangoma. Mutwa’s ‘spiritual sickness’ had been part of the initiatory process of becoming a shaman, and is a common aspect of shamanic traditions all over the world.

Sadly, when his father and stepmother learned that he had become a ‘heathen’, they immediately disowned him, telling him “never to set foot in their home again.” Virtually alone and homeless, Mutwa began to travel “for knowledge, in search of clarity of mind and in search of the truth about my people.” He journeyed all over the country, meeting, and studying under, a number of traditional healers. His first destination was Swaziland. He then made his way to Mozambique, and later, Rhodesia (now called Zimbabwe). At the end of this not only physical, but spiritual, journey, he realised his life’s purpose – to help preserve the culture of his people, and to help mend the problems in his country, of drugs, unemployment, crime, disease and poverty. Mutwa’s first book, Indaba, My Children: African Folk Tales, was published in 1964, and is considered a classic. His other works include: Africa Is My Witness (1966), My People (1971), Let Not My Country Die (1986), and Zulu Shaman: Dreams, Prophecies, and Mysteries (1996).

Very much a cosmic thinker, Mutwa claims that many of humanity’s difficulties can be explained by the negative influence of manipulative extraterrestrial beings, particularly the mantindane, who “share the Earth with us. They need us. They use us. They harvest things from us.” It’s about time, he says, that we acknowledged the alien presence on this planet. “We are being watched, we are being explored and investigated, and we are being controlled, and yet there are those among us who refuse to accept this fact,” he explains in Zulu Shaman.

    A World Ruled by Aliens

The late, great John E. Mack is among one of the first UFO researchers in the West to interview Mutwa. He has also been interviewed by the Australian UFO researcher Bill Chalker, the author and historian Zecharia Sitchin, as well as the controversial conspiracy theorist David Icke, who once called him “the most amazing and knowledgeable man it has been my privilege and honour to call a friend, a genius.” Supposedly, many of Icke’s speculations about ‘shape-shifting reptilian aliens’ – whom he believes to be the true rulers of this earth – have been confirmed by Mutwa. According to Mutwa, when he talks about extraterrestrials and other topics of this nature he often feels “caught between, on the one hand, Western thought, including the Christian religion, and African thought, which accepts these things without question.”

Mack first met Mutwa in 1994, during a short trip to South Africa, the main purpose of which was to investigate the Ariel School incident in Zimbabwe. “Credo seemed a noble, even regal figure with his colourful robes and heavy metal adornments of the sangoma, which seemed as if they ought to weigh him down,” writes Mack in Passport to the Cosmos. During the interview, Mutwa spoke a great deal about his traumatic alien abduction experiences – experiences that Mack, a world-renowned expert on the subject, found difficult not to take seriously.

Mutwa views the world as a mysterious and frightening place, controlled by alien forces that possess far more knowledge than – and are intellectually and technologically superior to – humanity. Some of these beings, he says, are wise, benevolent and wish to help us. But the same cannot be said of the mantindane, who are just as selfish and power-hungry as humans. They preserve humanity, he says, in order to protect their own self-interests, because they are “obsessed with self-preservation… This wish to play God over lesser beings is with us and with them. Throughout the cosmos vice is the same.”

Some of these beings, says Mutwa, have covertly and profoundly influenced all human cultures and civilisations for millennia. They have aided our evolution and helped us survive by providing us with knowledge – of science, farming, medicine and so on. “Throughout Africa we are told that these mysterious beings taught human beings many things,” writes Mutwa. “They taught human beings how to have laws, knowledge of herbal medicine, knowledge of arts and knowledge of the mysteries of creation and the cosmos as a whole.”

Some of them – the mantindane in particular – are “part of the Earth,” and should not be considered foreign. “We and the mantindane are one and the same stupid race,” says Mutwa. “Far from these creatures being aliens, they are our future descendants. I am sure of this.” Out of all the different types of alien beings that have been in contact with humanity, the mantindane are apparently the most important to Africans, who fear them greatly. Mutwa described these entities to Mack as troublesome and “parasitic,” claiming that they “instil superstition, sow discord, and may even cause disease.”

    A Difficult Life

Given the fact that he has led such a difficult life, it is perhaps not surprising that Mutwa’s world view is less than optimistic. Over the years, he’s been a victim of violence on a number of occasions, and has lost many loved ones. In 1960, his fiancée was shot dead when South African police open fired on a crowd of people to which she belonged. In addition, his first-born son was knifed to death by a group of black activists, “murdering people under the banner of the mass democratic movement.”

During the Soweto riots of June 16, 1976, Mutwa was attacked by a group of thugs who stabbed him repeatedly. “I could feel the knives going into my body,” he says. “The thing that always helps me happened then. I split into two, and so I escaped the pain.” Looking down, he saw his own body, a “bloodied mess that looked like me.” He was apparently pronounced clinically dead. On another occasion, Mutwa was almost burnt alive when a group of thugs doused him in gasoline. In Africa it’s widely believed that when a person is killed in this manner, their soul is destroyed along with their body, preventing them from reincarnating. Mutwa remembers this incident as one of the few times in his life when he felt genuinely terrified.

Unbelievably traumatic though these experiences must have been, nothing compares to Mutwa’s 1958 alien abduction episode – assuming it actually took place, of course. The incident has been detailed in a number of books, including Passport to the Cosmos, Bill Chalker’s Hair of the Alien (2005), and Mutwa’s semi-autobiographical Zulu Shaman (also known under the title Song of the Stars).

Caught by the God of the Mountains

It all started in the bush, in the sacred Inyangani Mountains of Rhodesia, while Mutwa, at the time a sangoma apprentice, was busy searching for a particular type of herb, which he planned to use as medicine. All of a sudden the temperature dropped, says Mutwa, even though it was a very hot day. He was then engulfed by a bright blue mist, which, he says, “was swirling all around me, getting between me and the eastern landscape.” A moment later, he found himself in what looked like a mining tunnel lined with silver-greyish metal.

The next thing he knew, he was lying on a table of some sort. His boots and trousers were missing. He was approached by a group of grey-skinned creatures, with “very large heads, very thin arms, and very thin legs.” He wanted to flee, but could not move, as his arms and legs were paralysed. “I just lay there like a goat on a sacrificial altar.” On closer inspection, he noticed that the creatures were short, “about the size of African Pigmy.” They looked, he says, identical in appearance to the ‘gray aliens’ (or grays) commonly reported by abductees in America and other Western countries.

Mutwa noticed that what appeared to be the creatures’ eyes were actually black, goggle-like covers. Their ‘real’ eyes were “round, with straight pupils, like those of a cat.” At least one of the creatures – the one closest to him – had a potent and very unpleasant odour, “a throat-tightening chemical smell, which smelled like rotten eggs, and also like hot copper [sulphur].” Mutwa was then subjected to some kind of operation on his left thigh, which caused him to scream out in agony. An abundance of blood flowed from the wound. Next, one of the creatures stuck a silver, pen-like object up his right nasal passage; then yanked it out. “The pain,” he says, “was out of this world.”

The pain subsided, however, when one of the creatures – who was bigger and taller than the others, and who possessed an air of authority – placed its hand on Mutwa’s forehead. Mutwa could ‘sense’ that the creature was female, despite the fact that ‘she’ lacked breasts and other feminine characteristics. Staring at Mutwa intently, it projected visions of destruction into his mind. He saw cities being destroyed by floods, fires and other natural disasters.

One of the creatures pushed a small, black tubular instrument into Mutwa’s penis. As soon as the instrument was withdrawn, Mutwa’s bladder opened, and he urinated straight into the creature’s chest. It then “staggered away like a drunken insect, and left the room.” A moment later, two other creatures entered the room, one of whom appeared to be a large, metallic robot. Its eyes were bright, seemed to move, and seemed to change colour. The other creature, which was naked, had pink skin, blue eyes, high cheek-bones and looked almost human, yet its body was swollen and strangely out of proportion. Something about it reminded Mutwa of a doll, for it looked and felt “totally unnatural.”

The creature mounted Mutwa “like a crazy Zulu girl,” and proceeded to have sex with him. But the experience was not at all pleasant – much the opposite, in fact. The creature’s body was cold, bony and lifeless, and Mutwa felt as if he were making love to a machine. To make matters worse, it attached something to his penis that made him ejaculate “too much.” It then left the room, leaving Mutwa alone with the tall, female creature. His penis “was burning as if I had put it in scalding water.”

Gripping him violently by the head, the creature forced Mutwa off the table he was laying on, and he fell to the floor, landing on his hands and knees. He was then led roughly from room to room. One of the things that most captured his interest, and which, he says, is still “haunting my dreams,” was a collection of huge cylindrical objects, filled with greyish-pink liquid. They contained “small editions of the alien creatures floating round and round, like disgusting little frogs.”

Mutwa witnessed other human beings being “tortured” by the aliens, one of whom was a white man, “smelling of sweat, urine, excrement and fear.” As Mutwa walked past him, they looked deeply into each others eyes. Incredibly, Mutwa claims to have run into this very same man about two years later, while delivering parcels in the city of Johannesburg. He was working at a curio shop at the time. The man asked Mutwa where he had seen him before, to which he replied, “in Rhodesia, in a certain place underground.” As though the realisation was too much to bear, the man turned away and walked off quickly down the street.

The next thing he knew, Mutwa was once again in the bush. His mind was hazy, and it took him a moment to realise that something terribly wrong had occurred. He felt a pain in his left thigh, as well as his penis, which was starting to swell. He noticed, moreover, that his shorts and trousers were torn, and that his boots were missing. Clinging to his body was the god-awful stench of the place he had been earlier. Coating his skin was a fine, grey powder. He began to stagger home, making his way along a bush track.

Mutwa eventually encountered a group of locals, who guided him back to the village, where his teacher, Mrs. Zamoya, informed him that he had been missing for three days. She believed his story straight away. She told him that he had been “caught by the God of the mountains,” and that many other people had similar experiences. He was lucky to have returned alive, she said, “because many people have disappeared in that part of the land, never to be seen again…”

While staying in the village to recover, Mutwa was bathed every day, so as to wash away the tiny droplets of blood that continued to ooze from the pores of his itchy skin. He found a scoop mark on his left thigh, about a half-inch in diameter, which remains there to this day. Most unpleasant of all, however, skin started to peel off his penis. It also developed sores. This condition did not go away completely, he says, which is one of the reasons his first wife left him. Mutwa was eventually taken to Mrs. Zamoya’s ‘Solace Mission’ in western Rhodesia, where it took him several months to make a full recovery.

    The ‘Sky Gods’

It would appear that the alien abduction phenomenon is alive and well in Mutwa’s homeland, just as it is in many Western countries, for he claims to have met numerous abductees like himself. During his long career as a sangoma, Mutwa has been approached by countless African women who insist that they have been impregnated by the mantindane and other alien beings. In each case, the pregnancy has mysteriously terminated, as though the foetus has been stolen. Because, says Mutwa, many of these women have been accused of committing abortion – which, in Africa, is regarded as an act “worse than murder” – it has been his job to “convince the family of the woman’s innocence, to try and heal the terrible spiritual and mental – as well as physical – trauma that the woman has undergone.”

According to Mack in Passport to the Cosmos, many African tribes believe that the mantindane and other alien beings harvest sperm and ova from unsuspecting human victims. The Masai warriors, for instance, fear that the mantindane are able to drain a man’s semen, which is why they go into battle wearing codpieces to protect their genitals, whereas the women of the tribe wear certain ornaments to protect themselves from being sexually molested by these entities.

“Once a mantindane has dealt with you,” says Mutwa, “you become afraid of making love to a woman…These beings scar you for the rest of your life.” Flawed though the mantindane may be, Mutwa points out that they are “part of us, part of our lives,” and that “they are moved by a desperate need.” Mutwa calls the mantindane “solvers of great problems.” Their technology, he says, may be “several million years ahead of ours.”

Whether or not one accepts Mutwa’s claim that the mantindane and other alien beings are sexually compatible with human beings – or that such entities actually exist – it cannot be denied that these matters are a very big part of African tribal culture. The “sky people,” or “sky gods,” says Mutwa, have visited Earth for thousands of years, arriving from the heavens in “magic sky boats.” The Pygmies, the Kalahari Bushmen, the Ovahimba of Namibia, the tribes people of Zaire, and of course the Zulus – all of them accept the existence of extraterrestrials, and even believe that humanity is descended from such beings.

The stars are revered by Mutwa’s people, who consider them more important than even the sun or the moon. The word ‘Zulu’, in fact, means ‘people from the stars’. It is from the stars that much knowledge and wisdom has originated, they say. The people of Botswana, explains Mack, “call a star naledi, which means ‘light of the spirit’, and have carved in wood, painted on rocks, or even scratched on metal ‘the so-called UFOs,’ the ‘magic vehicles’ in which the mantindane and the star gods of the various tribes travelled.”

In addition to the somewhat sinister and repulsive mantindane, Mutwa speaks of another significant alien race – one that UFO enthusiasts and conspiracy theorists in the West call ‘the reptilians’. “Some say that these creatures were like crocodiles, with crocodile like teeth and jaws, but with very large round heads,” he says. Anyone who’s read Robert Temple’s impressive and scholarly The Sirius Mystery (1976) would be familiar with the enigma surrounding the Dogon people of Mali, west Africa, who possess advanced astronomical knowledge of the Sirius star system, and who claim that they gained this knowledge, many thousands of years ago, from the Nommo, a race of advanced reptilian or amphibian beings who hail from Sirius (more specifically, Sirius A). Throughout Africa, says Mutwa, these mysterious, reptilian gods are known by other names as well. “In West Africa, in the land of the Bumbara people, these amphibian or reptilian sky gods are known as Zishwezi… In West Africa again, these creatures are called the Asa, which means the mighty ones of magic…”

    Fact or Fiction?

What, then, are we to make of Mutwa’s claims? Was he really abducted by alien beings? Or was his story a fabrication – either completely or partially? And what about his people’s beliefs that we are “descendants from gods who came out of the skies thousands of years ago,” and that these beings “share the earth with us,” and exploit us? Should this information be interpreted literally?

According to Mack and Chalker, both of whom looked deeply into Mutwa’s story, these questions are difficult to answer with a simple yes or no. The truth may lie somewhere in the middle, they say. In Passport to the Cosmos, Mack points out that Mutwa and other indigenous people with whom he has discussed the UFO phenomenon and other related matters, do “not sharply distinguish material or literal reality from mythic truths.” He adds, moreover, that certain ideas of Mutwa’s, “like the dominant role of the mantindane and other extraterrestrial or star beings in human cultural history, seem related to tribal myth and legend.” Chalker is of much the same opinion as Mack. “‘Oral material’ like Credo’s is very difficult to judge,” he says.

Given the kind of life he’s lead, it’s a miracle that Mutwa is still alive to this day. Now eighty-six or thereabouts and suffering from diabetes and asthma, his health is continuing to worsen at a rapid rate, and it’s fair to assume that he probably won’t be alive for very much longer. He claims that the ‘alien knowledge’ he has divulged in recent years, which he once pledged never to reveal, was supposed to be reserved for initiate sangomas like himself only. He decided to ‘break ranks’ and ‘reveal all’, however, because he lacks a successor onto whom he can pass his unique and sacred knowledge – knowledge he has earned during a lifetime of initiations. Plus, he insists, this information is too important to be withheld from humanity, and is needed in this time of great global crisis.

UFOs, the Government & Faking an ET Invasion: An Interview with Norio Hayakawa

From New Dawn Special Issue Vol 6 No 5 (Oct 2012)

Norio Hayakawa, a resident of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, has been engaged in the study of UFOs for more than fifty years. An expert on Nevada’s Area 51 and the alleged underground base near Dulce, New Mexico, he was responsible for organising ‘The Dulce Base: Fact or Fiction?’ conference – the first event of its kind ever held – which took place in the town of Dulce in March 2009. During his many years as a UFO lecturer, activist, and researcher, he’s brushed shoulders with such well-known figures as the late William ‘Bill’ Cooper, Bob Lazar and the late Gabe Valdez.

Much of Hayakawa’s research focuses on the technological-militaristic and socio-political aspects of the UFO phenomenon – an area overlooked by most other UFO researchers. A unique and discerning voice in the field of UFOlogy, he suggests there’s been an effort on the part of the authorities, for reasons both disturbing and far-reaching, to manipulate the public’s beliefs concerning UFOs and aliens. Like Dr. Jacques Vallée and others, he isn’t afraid to point out the shortcomings of the extraterrestrial hypothesis (ETH), while at the same time maintaining an open-mind. Hayakawa kindly agreed to discuss his work with New Dawn magazine.

LOUIS PROUD (LP): Can you please describe your background and how you came to develop an interest in the UFO phenomenon?

NORIO HAYAKAWA (NH): I started getting really involved with UFO research around 1961, when I was a sophomore in high school. However, when I was in elementary school beginning in the early 1950s I had already known about ‘flying saucers’ because I used to listen to my father tell me of his sighting of a strangely manoeuvring green ‘ball’ of fire, which took place when he was fishing one summer night in 1947, in the Bay of Yokohama, Japan. My father was quite familiar with shooting stars and other astronomical phenomena, because he had spent years night fishing and was so used to looking at night skies. But that particular summer night in 1947 was definitely unforgettable to him, he used to tell our family at our dining table as he enthusiastically described his sighting to us.

Artist’s impression of the famous Socorro incident in 1964.

From 1961, I started getting involved and began to subscribe to newsletters of NICAP [National Investigations Committee On Aerial Phenomena] and APRO [Aerial Phenomena Research Organization] and other groups in the US, even though I was living in Japan. I also began to attend meetings of UFO investigation groups in the Yokohama and Tokyo areas. In 1964, when I was attending college in Tokyo, I became fascinated by a newspaper article about a strange encounter involving a highway patrol officer named Lonnie Zamora who claimed to have witnessed a flying saucer sitting on the desert, just outside of a sleepy little town in New Mexico, US, by the name of Socorro. Of course, that was the famous Socorro incident of 1964. The sighting really convinced me that I have to get to the bottom of this strange phenomenon.

LP: You say the authorities have exploited and benefited from the UFO phenomenon, by using it as a smokescreen for various top secret militaristic projects.

NH: Many defence contractors in the US periodically create ‘cover’ stories in order to detract attention away from covert military projects by some curious segment of the population. These ‘cover’ stories sometimes involve false UFO sighting reports. Such reports are frequently used when contractors come up with new military weapons systems or new military aircraft and so on – for example, new generations of remotely-controlled platforms for various programs. Creating the so-called ‘laughter curtain’ (i.e., bringing up the subject of UFOs or aliens) is one way to curtail serious scrutiny of certain military bases or programs. A very good example is how Area 51, a very important military research, development and testing location, has become associated with rumours of UFOs or aliens. This may well have been concocted by the Air Force itself, for example.

Cellphone photo of UFO taken on 1 March 2011 by Dulce resident Dory Vigil (supplied by Norio Hayakawa).

LP: You seem to disagree with the mainstream scientific notion that we have all the answers concerning UFO activity on Earth – or in other words there is no UFO “cover up.” In fact, you’ve stated the authorities are just as baffled by the UFO phenomenon as the general population. Moreover, you suggest the authorities have tried (and are still trying) to promote among the public certain beliefs concerning UFOs – namely, that UFOs are extraterrestrial spacecraft piloted by physical entities – as part of a sinister and elaborate psychological manipulation program.

NH: I am of the opinion that the government, or ‘authorities’, are just as perplexed about the nature of the UFO phenomenon as the public. The only reason they have not disclosed anything conclusive despite many years of research and collection of vital sighting report files is because they are unable to explain it to the public, having long known that the phenomenon cannot be sufficiently explained simply through contemporary, empirical science. The government has never been in the business of explaining anything that is outside of empirical scientific explanations. The UFO phenomenon seems to go beyond just being a physical phenomenon.

LP: What is your perspective on Operation Paperclip?

NH: We cannot underestimate the importance of Operation Paperclip in the aftermath of WWII. Operation Paperclip was a US sanctioned program through which hundreds of former Nazi German scientists and engineers (and even former SS intelligence officers) were brought to the US in order for the US to acquire some of the interesting military technologies that the Germans already had in the late 1930s and early 1940s, such as advanced rocket science and development of prototypes of flying wing aircraft – some of which were even equipped with ramjet engines and attained speeds of up to 500 or 600 miles per hour. New Mexico was one of the primary locations for these scientists because New Mexico already had important laboratories such as Los Alamos, and also important rocket testing ranges such as White Sands. Even today, White Sands Missile Range is the location of the most advanced testing of directed energy weapons systems, with the use of lasers and microwaves.

LP: What is Project Blue Beam and how does it tie into your research and the notion of a coming global crisis?

NH: Project Blue Beam is an alleged secret and futuristic NASA program in which advanced technologies (such as the use of airborne holographic projection devices and manipulation of various frequency waves) could be utilised to create fake visual/audio simulations to convince the public (or the enemy) that they are witnessing a real event – whatever that scenario may be.

The late Canadian investigative journalist Serge Monast, with whom I corresponded in 1993 and 1994, was the first to come up with the allegation that NASA will develop this technology in the near future. HAARP, which began to be talked about in the early 1990s, was basically another version of Project Blue Beam, utilising some of the Tesla technologies. According to some researchers, programs such as HAARP and the Blue Beam Project could be utilised in the future to generate panic (such as by creating a fake ‘extraterrestrial invasion’ scenario) so that the frightened and deceived public would clamour for some type of global authority and unity to fend off such ‘threats’.

LP: Could you please elaborate on the notion of a “fake ‘extraterrestrial invasion’ scenario,” using Project Blue Beam and HAARP technologies, as a way to enforce a totalitarian one-world government, or ‘New World Order’?

NH: If there really exists a global cabal whose long-term plan is to enforce a global government, the most logical way to carry out this plan would be to create an absolutely convincing need for such an authority. The ultimate means to achieve such a plan would be to artificially generate worldwide panic by staging a fake ‘extraterrestrial threat’ through the use of such technologies as HAARP and the alleged Project Blue Beam. An unprecedented series of global crises such as natural catastrophes or conflagrations (both of which could also be created) would be the final condition under which such schemes would be realised.

LP: During a recent interview on Truth Connections Radio you made a comment to the effect that there would no UFO history were it not for the US state of New Mexico.

NH: The importance of New Mexico can be seen from the fact that the atomic bomb was first tested in this state. New Mexico is the location of Los Alamos National Laboratory, probably the world’s largest conglomerate military/scientific research community. Los Alamos, by the way, has the world’s most advanced DNA, human genome, and genetics facilities in the world. Albuquerque, New Mexico is the headquarters of Sandia National Laboratories, which, located inside Kirtland Air Force Base, is probably the world’s largest military research, development and testing conglomerate.

New Mexico is such a huge state in size (the fifth largest in the Union), yet is scarcely populated in proportion to its huge area. Even today, the total population of New Mexico is about two million. It has enough space to conduct any kind of covert military research, development and testing programs. By the way, there are more scientists per population in New Mexico than in any other state. Yet the irony is that the level of public education in New Mexico ranks about 48th in the nation.

As I stated earlier, the White Sands Missile Range is today the location of the world’s most advanced directed energy weapons testing programs, involving lasers and microwaves. If aliens really exist, then this, for obvious reasons, would definitely be the primary place of interest to them. In fact, many people seem to believe that an extraterrestrial spacecraft has already crashed in New Mexico (the famous Roswell UFO incident of 1947).

LP: There is said to be a clandestine (and possibly extraterrestrial) underground facility near the town of Dulce, New Mexico – a topic on which you’ve conducted an extensive amount of research. What are some of the discoveries you’ve made concerning Dulce?

NH: Although I have been involved with investigations into the claims of an alleged underground joint US-alien base in Dulce (alleged biological laboratory) for many years, I have yet to see any solid, tangible, physical, irrefutable documentary evidence whatsoever of its existence. Yet, I can also say there seems to be lots of circumstantial evidence that there is ‘something’ there. What that ‘something’ is, I still do not know.

LP: What is your take on the cattle mutilation mystery?

NH: The cattle mutilation mystery, to my knowledge, began to be reported primarily in the mid-1970s in the Dulce, New Mexico and southern Colorado areas. It is my conjecture that it may have had something to do with the government’s monitoring of radiation levels of certain cows in the northern New Mexico region, especially in the aftermath of alleged radiation leaks that began to affect animals and even humans in the Dulce vicinity, after the US exploded an atomic device deep underground, about 22 miles southwest of Dulce in 1967. This experiment, codenamed Project Gasbuggy, was realised by the US Atomic Energy Commission, ostensibly to help ease the flow of natural gas trapped deep beneath hard rocks in the Dulce region. The high rate of cancer in the Dulce area as well as widespread fertility problems among young women in the area is quite noticeable, even today. Plus, there is a possibility the government may have used the Dulce area as a dumping ground for toxic waste materials, besides possibly conducting some form of bio-warfare research involving substances such as anthrax.

Gabe Valdez, working as a New Mexico state patrol officer in charge of the Dulce, New Mexico area, investigates a cattle mutilation incident in the mid-1970s.

The cattle mutilation incidents may also have been a series of staged events by the government to cause local people and the public to believe that Dulce is somehow associated with alien visitation. The late Gabe Valdez, a former New Mexico state patrol officer in charge of the entire Dulce region for many years, also seemed to come to that conclusion. He further concluded that UFO incidents were staged by the government with the use of holographic projections and other mind-control technologies then being developed at places such as Sandia National Laboratories.

LP: Please shed some light on your association with the late Milton William Cooper (otherwise known as William ‘Bill’ Cooper) – the famous conspiracy theorist and author of Behold a Pale Horse – and how his work is of relevance to your own.

NH: When William ‘Bill’ Cooper first came on the scene in 1989 in Los Angeles, I was quite impressed with his speeches. He had brought a new, global conspiracy-type angle to the UFO phenomenon, which sounded very fresh and exciting to lots of us in the so-called UFO community, including myself. I even helped him launch his first public lecture at Hollywood High School in 1989.

As the years went by, Cooper began to disassociate himself from UFOlogy. He went into the ‘militia’ or ‘Patriot’ movement and, unfortunately, met a violent death in 2001 in Arizona. What I admired about Cooper, despite his well-known obnoxious and rather egotistical personality, was the fact that he began to admit that he may have been purposely shown disinformation by the Navy concerning UFOs. He also began to believe that in the future a secret global government could even stage a ‘fake’ extraterrestrial event to create panic in order to establish a forced global governance of some type.

LP: What do you make of the claims of Robert ‘Bob’ Lazar – who says he took part in a top secret government project, based at Area 51 [Nevada, USA], to reverse-engineer recovered extraterrestrial spacecraft – and others who’ve come forward with similar sensational stories?

NH: The claims of Bob Lazar are simply claims and cannot be verified. However, over all these years Lazar has never changed his story. The very fact that Lazar still has a scientific equipment business in Michigan (United Nuclear) and still seems to be doing occasional work indirectly with some defence contractors seems to indicate he is indeed knowledgeable in the scientific applications associated with military technologies. But there is also a theory that Lazar was intentionally manipulated by the government to strengthen the ‘extraterrestrial’ element to the Area 51 story, thus bringing about the ‘laughter curtain’ whenever discussion of this important military base is brought up by the public.

LP: In your opinion, the UFO phenomenon is non-physical in nature, having nothing to do with flesh-and-blood extraterrestrial beings. Alternately, you’ve expressed a strong appreciation of Dr. Jacques Vallée’s extra-dimensional hypothesis, which interprets UFO events in terms of other “dimensions” or “realities” existing alongside our own.

NH: The vast majority of the world’s scientists as well as the public at large seem convinced there has to be advanced extraterrestrial civilisations elsewhere in the universe. However, when it comes to the question of UFOs most of them do not support the theory that we have ever been (or are being) visited by physical extraterrestrial beings in physical spacecraft; physically it is impossible, they say. Even Stephen Hawking, one of the world’s most brilliant minds, while acknowledging the existence of extraterrestrial civilisations are almost certain, says that no aliens have ever come to earth in UFOs.

But the UFO phenomenon seems to be real. I totally agree with Vallée, who continues to support the extra-dimensional origins of UFOs. I also tend to believe that UFOs are not objects nor are they flying. I tend to believe they are temporarily materialising and dematerialising – in other words, intruding into our dimension for reasons unknown and receding back quickly into their dimension. UFO reports have existed from time immemorial. Even today we do not comprehend the true nature of this puzzling phenomenon.

LP: You once worked as a licensed funeral director, while some of your blog posts concern philosophical topics such as death and the afterlife. Do you believe these topics are of relevance to the UFO phenomenon and, if so, how?

NH: The world is filled with mysteries. There are things in this world that cannot be sufficiently explained. Life and death are mysteries unto themselves. So, in this sense, the UFO phenomenon is no different from the mysteries of life and death. The phenomenon, which has existed from time immemorial (i.e. sighting reports), has not been solved yet. This is the reason I am so fascinated with the topic. The world would be dull without such mysteries. In fact, as I’ve stated many times in my public presentations, the UFO phenomenon is perhaps the most important topic of mankind.
