This article arises from the shamanic-styled presentations of Carlos Castaneda, an anthropologist who delivered several best-selling books about his apprenticeship to don Juan Matus. As I have previously written, I also apprenticed to don Juan and have examined this path for several decades, writing about it as Kenneth Smith and Ken Eagle Feather. Out-of-body experience (OBE) is actively cultivated by this lineage of shamans and is one element of dreaming, an in-house term with technical connotations distinguishing it from ordinary dreams.

In this view, dreaming – including OBE – results from the natural capacities of the human energy body, an arrangement of energy that surrounds and permeates the physical body. As energies cohere (come together) within the energy body, they produce perception and meaning. Change the coherence or cohesion of energy and you change perception. By consciously entering dreaming, you have changed your cohesion by altering the phase or ordering of energy within the energy body.

For example, the ordinary experience of daily life represents one phase of cohesion, one coherence of vibrations. OBE reflects a change of phase, a shift in the pattern of energy within the energy body resulting in different perceptions. Throughout the day, we all have minor changes in phase, such as going from home to work. Your home and work environments each have distinct cohesions based on all the elements and conditions that went into forming those environments, and you’ve learned to transition from one to the other – a remarkable feat. A significant shift of cohesional phase results in entirely new events such as OBE, also a remarkable accomplishment.

To intentionally cultivate OBE, it is helpful to know that it is not only possible but natural. In one study, researchers found that 95 per cent of cultures worldwide report OBEs, with an incidence ranging from 10 per cent of the population to virtually all, depending on the educational conditioning or values of the population. Eighty-nine per cent of those interviewed wanted another OBE, while 78 per cent found lasting benefit. Another indication of the normalcy of OBE, pervasive relaxation was the single, most prevalent element associated with having an OBE.¹

OBE is often discounted by scientists as illusory, with these scientists relating them to temporal-lobe seizures or otherwise abnormal neural (brain) activity. For instance, neuroimaging studies have shown the irregular recognition of body location during OBE to be associated with the temporal and parietal cortex.² Among their functions, these areas of the brain process information into meaning and sense of spatial location. Based on current knowledge, this anomaly of “irregular recognition” may easily be interpreted as the OBE being a somehow false experience. Yet, wouldn’t one expect different neural patterns resulting from an out-of-the-ordinary experience? Because the focus of attention is outside the physical body, wouldn’t this different localisation of awareness produce different neural readings pertaining to body location? Moreover, since there is specific brain activity that occurs by the ordinary act of walking down a street, by the same rules, shouldn’t this common behaviour be considered illusory?

Similar dynamics occur with research of near-death-experience (NDE), an event that may include OBE. For example, NDE is often discounted by relating it to temporal lobe abnormalities, including seizures, yet there is little correlation of temporal lobe seizures with NDE accounts. NDEs are also debunked by relating them to the effects of a dying brain. However, NDEs do not necessarily occur near death. As a result, proponents of transphysical phenomena such as OBE and NDE regard these criticisms as forcing data to comply with existing models of perception.³

If we examine numerous personal accounts the world over of OBE as well as pictures of reality developed by mystics, we open the doors to acknowledging other behaviours outside of ordinary life. Shamans, for instance, typically develop OBE, or at least some type of specialised dreaming, as part of their practices. From this, we can recognise that OBE not only occurs spontaneously but can also be the result of deliberate skill involving the focus and shift of attention. This, in turn, brings about a firm conviction that there is another side to life, that there is another dimension to humans that we can step into and use in practical ways, just as we do in daily life. All things considered, OBE is a natural capacity of human perception. It is just not yet accepted as part of our current reality.

Stages of developing OBE include entering dreaming where you experience a blackness that is at once heavy and dense, yet peaceful and relaxing. This is akin to meditation. The next step is entering your dreams – lucid dreaming, as it is often called, where you can control the dream. From here, you cultivate OBE where you have additional abilities.⁴

OBE is frequently attributed to a flight of imagination, an intense dream, or lucid dreaming. However, a classic OBE carries a set of five characteristics: exteriorisation, form, locomotion, emotions, and environment. Exteriorisation is the projection of awareness where a dreaming body is distant from the physical body and views events from that location. This has been termed astral projection, while these days is more commonly referred to as OBE.

There is usually a sense of having form of some kind during OBE. Due to conditioned habits, this often resembles the person’s human form. For others, such as those with a shamanic bent and having a power animal, the form might be an animal. It seems the longer the duration of an OBE, or the more frequently a person has OBEs, the form spontaneously becomes a sphere. At more advanced stages, the form becomes a concentrated point of awareness.

No matter the form, the requirements of the physical and dreaming bodies are different. They have different cohesions, different specifications, if you will. For instance, the physical body needs air, the dreaming body doesn’t. As a result, the dreaming body can travel to deep space or underwater without concern.

This leads to the next element defining OBE. The dreaming body has the ability of locomotion, of being able to move and change location. This might be within a room, to distant geographic locations, or even to other planets or dimensions. During an OBE I had many years ago, I visited Mars. Travelling from Earth to Mars took only an instant. The journey was a sudden shift in awareness rather than a sense of movement through time and space. Mars was reddish and rocky, just like NASA photos. Hovering about the landscape, I noticed geometric figures of different shapes. Through a telepathic-like process, I was able to briefly communicate with them. The gist of this is that they were lifeforms but foreign to human thinking. The geometric patterns represented energetic configurations of their non-corporeal awareness.

During other OBEs, I travelled to a world Castaneda describes as being inhabited by inorganic life. Here, I experienced a pitch-black dimension that felt extremely dense and heavy yet unlike the darkness of the initial stages of dreaming. It was as though gravity was significantly greater than on Earth. I was surrounded by pencil-shaped entities filled with soft light of different colours having very low radiation. The nature of time was quite different. It seemed that hours had passed while I was in that region, but when I awoke my clock indicated that just a few minutes had gone by. Castaneda more fully addresses this throughout The Art of Dreaming, where don Juan discusses several aspects related to this dense world.⁵ 

The visits to Mars and another dimension can be chalked up as resulting from an overactive imagination, trauma, or whatever. However, if we take a hard look at these as being only a minimal reference to many, many other reports worldwide, perhaps we can better redefine what it means to be human.

Next on the list, the dreaming body has emotions. It is not a dry experience such as found with remote viewing or other psychic functions. A form combined with emotions offers a useful reference to daily life. As a result, there is a correlation of learning that bridges the daily and dream worlds that can significantly accelerate our understanding of consciousness.

A key difference between dreams and OBE is that during an OBE the environment is stable. During a dream, including a lucid dream, the environment may spontaneously shift. Even in a lucid dream, where control of the dreamscape is more evident, the environment might change, or the person dreaming can intentionally change the environment. During an OBE, the environment remains constant. It is stable. If a person desires a new environment, the dreaming body goes to that location rather than changing the panorama on the spot. This further connects processes of consciousness in daily and dream lives. As a result, dreaming gains the same practical utility of learning and application as found while awake.

During OBE, you can begin stabilising the experience by relating it to daily life. At first, for instance, you learn control by focusing on a known place, somewhere you’re familiar with, so you have the feel of it to guide your out-of-body travels. It also helps to know your place in your daily world by knowing what kind of life you want to build. Stability in your daily world feeds steadiness in dreaming. Something peaceful and strong balances emotions which carry over into dreaming. Amid this orientation to OBE, know why you want OBE in the first place. Cultivate a strong, balanced focus toward that goal.

In addition, meditation promotes dreaming as do exercises like disrupting routines, where you interrupt your daily habits. Both loosen cohesion to help you change phase. Your focus of energy creates a new cohesion. You then integrate dreaming and OBE into your daily life and vice versa to develop your sense of reality and expand consciousness in general.

Overall, OBE accelerates learning by offering new experiences, environments, and perspectives to draw you out of a slumber. You eventually gain a sense of flow, of directed movement of energy toward a goal. This is not unlike that of an athlete hitting the zone for optimal performance. It comes from finding a relaxed, centred, purposeful pace in daily life. You may even find yourself going through an ordinary day as though it were a dream, a minor shift in phase that delivers powerful results because you’ve altered your relation to your world.

Dreaming, including OBE, is “simply” a way to become aware of more human capacities and acknowledge there’s more to life. But don’t constrict your newfound awareness to OBE. Dreaming helps awaken other perceptions such as seeing a luminous world of energy in which the energy body is part. And while OBE often requires an unyielding effort to initially produce, you also need to ease up and enjoy life to gracefully allow changes in phase that yield new experiences and enhance your life.

There is a tragic lack of intelligent and original thought on the part of those who research Fortean phenomena. Year after year, the same tired ideas get thrown into the washing machine, to be sloshed around again and again like so many pairs of dirty socks, so that very little progress is made in terms of advancing and elevating the discussion. UFOs and their supposed occupants are explained in terms of extraterrestrials; Bigfoots and other cryptids are argued to be flesh-and-blood creatures; and the authorities are perceived to have all the answers regarding these and just about every other mystery on the planet.

Years ago, when I myself was a nuts-and-bolts flying saucer adherent, I stumbled upon an amazing and radical collection of books that forever changed my view of the UFO mystery and Fortean phenomena in general. More than anything, reading these books made me realise that UFOs, poltergeists, lake monsters, and so forth, are not separate mysteries but in fact different pieces of the same puzzle.

The books to which I refer, of course, are those of John A. Keel, easily the greatest Fortean thinker since Charles Fort himself. Were it not for his amazing contribution, our understanding of Fortean phenomena, and the UFO mystery in particular, would be decades behind what it is now.

Born on 25 March 1930, in Hornell, New York, Alva John Kiehle spent much of his early childhood under the care of his grandparents, owing to the breakdown of his parents’ marriage. In his book Jadoo (1957), he describes his mother as “a lively, pretty girl with a strong sense of humour and a talent for mixing with people” and his father, a singer and bandleader, as “sober and introverted,” and adds that their marriage “soon went flat because of their contrasting personalities and the hardships of the depression.”

As a child, he possessed a voracious appetite for knowledge, devouring books on those topics that interested him – in particular, magic, humour, science, travel and aviation. He was especially passionate about magic, earning him the nickname “Houdini” from his peers. Determined to become a writer, he had his first story published in a magicians’ magazine at the age of 12. At the age of 14, he had his own column, “Scraping the Keel,” with a local newspaper, was publishing his own science-fiction fanzine, The Lunarite, as well as contributing pieces to other publications. After moving to Manhattan in 1947, his literary accomplishments expanded to include scripts for radio and television programs.

Though it wasn’t until later in his life that Keel began actively pursuing the Fortean, his involvement in such matters began in childhood, and he states that he was born with a high degree of psychic ability. Apparently, at the age of around 11, there was a period of poltergeist activity in his home in the form of strange knocking sounds on the walls of his bedroom. He found that, if he asked the “poltergeist” a question, it would respond by delivering the correct number of knocks.

At 18, while living in a furnished room near Times Square, he underwent an “illuminating experience” whereby the place became “filled with an indescribable light, a pinkish glow” and his mind was “flooded with a torrent of information.” He adds: “For a few brief moments I suddenly understood everything and was really one with the cosmos. The next morning I could remember very little of it but I’m sure it was all entered into my subconscious.”

Following a stint in the US Army during the Korean War, in which he served on the staff of the American Forces’ Network, Keel worked as a foreign radio correspondent in Paris, Berlin, Rome and Egypt. One of his broadcasts took place from inside the Great Pyramid, earning him a great deal of publicity. Restless and hungry for adventure, he resigned in order to explore the Middle East and Asia, while earning a living writing stories and articles for various pulp magazines. (Typical titles include “I Fed My Arm to a Tiger,” “Bosoms, Blood, and Baloney,” and “German Sex Traps.”)

Throughout this four year period, Keel spent much of his time investigating magic, such as the Indian rope trick and the ability to drive hatpins through the tongue and cheeks, as well as alleged demonstrations of “real magic,” or psychic phenomena. He describes his adventures and findings in the aforementioned Jadoo (a Hindu word meaning “magic”), one of the funniest and most fascinating travel books ever written. A pioneer cryptozoologist, Keel mentions how, while staying in the Himalayan kingdom of Sikkim, he attempted to track down the Abominable Snowman, or Yeti, at one point catching sight of what appeared to be a group of huge, ape-like creatures.

Later, back in America, Keel’s interest turned to the UFO phenomenon, after Playboy commissioned him to write an article on the topic. Determined to get to the bottom of the mystery, he began travelling the country to interview UFO witnesses and “contactees.” His investigations led him, in 1966, to the small town of Point Pleasant, West Virginia, where a great deal of UFO activity was being reported at the time, in conjunction with sightings of a mysterious six-foot-tall winged-humanoid with glowing red eyes, which the press dubbed “Mothman.”

The latter sightings, which involved scores of reliable witnesses, were focused around an abandoned World War Two munitions manufacturing-storage complex on the edge of town, known among the locals as the “TNT area,” although the creature was spotted in other areas too, and was said to be able to rise straight up into the air like a helicopter and pursue automobiles at speeds approaching a hundred miles an hour.

Not only was the Point Pleasant area found to be a hotspot for winged-humanoid sightings and strange aerial lights, but also, observed Keel, to a host of other paranormal manifestations, including poltergeist hauntings, electrical disturbances in the form of television sets “burning out at an alarming rate” and telephones “going crazy, ringing at all hours of the day and night with no one on the other end.” Even creepier, “Some people were getting calls from mysterious strangers speaking a cryptic language.”

It didn’t take Keel long to recognise that all of these bizarre occurrences were related, and, further, that they had nothing to do with extraterrestrials and more to do with psychic phenomena and the occult. He explains: “Some UFOs were directly related to the human consciousness, just as ghostly apparitions are often the product of the percipient’s mind. There are deeply rooted psychic and psychological factors in the UFO phenomenon, and the sudden appearance of a light in the sky triggers and releases the human energy that stimulated seemingly supernatural events.”

On 15 December 1967, roughly a year after the first Mothman sighting, the Silver Bridge, which stretched across the Ohio River, connecting Point Pleasant to Gallipolis, Ohio, collapsed while loaded with rush-hour traffic, resulting in the deaths of 46 people. As there were few additional Mothman sightings following the tragedy, the belief emerged that the two were related, and the Mothman came to be seen as a harbinger of doom. Keel’s book on the mystery, The Mothman Prophecies (1975), was made into a successful movie starring Richard Gere.

As a very real example of the idiom “we attract that which we think about,” Keel found himself targeted by the very phenomena he was trying to unravel, causing him many headaches and countless bouts of paranoia. Cryptic messages kept appearing on his answering machine, he was plagued by strange men in dark suits who drove black Cadillacs (the so-called “men in black”), and he discovered that his phone was being tapped and his mail interfered with. Although some of these bizarre incidents were likely the work of the intelligence community, others defy logical explanation and instead point towards those “cosmic pranksters” he called the “Ultraterrestrials.”

These mysterious entities, reasoned Keel, are somehow indigenous to Earth yet inhabit a dimension beyond time and physical matter. By shifting up and down through the electromagnetic spectrum, they can materialise and dematerialise as they please. Though they can be either good or evil, they seem to delight in manipulating and tricking human beings. Throughout different cultures and periods in history, we’ve referred to them by such names as gods, demons, spirits, fairies, angels, and monsters. Encounters with them have spawned entire religions – for example, Joseph Smith’s visit from the angel Moroni, which led to the birth of Mormonism. Today we perceive them as extraterrestrial in nature.

From Keel’s perspective, then, the UFO mystery is simply a modern version of the same “game” the Ultraterrrestrials have been playing on humanity since time immemorial. As to what these entities are trying to achieve, he speculated that they operate as part of a “subtle cosmological system of control [that] has been in effect since the dawn of humanity.” This view mirrors that of the French computer scientist and UFO researcher Jacques Vallee, who hypothesised that the UFO phenomenon is “a control system for human consciousness.”

Besides the Ultraterrestrial hypothesis, which is one of the more intelligent theories to explain the origin of UFOs, another contribution of Keel’s is the finding that UFO sightings tend to recur within specific geographical locations he called “window areas,” perhaps due in part to local geomagnetic factors. “The earth’s magnetic field is probably the culprit in many cases of seemingly inexplicable phenomena,” he wrote. “Our planet is pockmarked with magnetic anomalies and aberrations.”

Keel, who passed away on 3 July 2009, at the age of 79, left behind countless articles and many books. The latter include UFOs: Operation Trojan Horse (1970), Strange Creatures from Time and Space (1970), Our Haunted Planet (1971), The Eighth Tower (1975), Disneyland of the Gods (1988) and the comedic novel The Fickle Finger of Fate (1966). Humble and possessed of a dry wit, he stressed that “nobody is an authority on UFOs,” including himself, and that he expected to be remembered “as a novelist and playwright – if I am remembered at all.”

What could paranormal phenomena control? I suggest that it is human belief that is being controlled and conditioned.

The human mind does not operate within a unified wholeness but rather through the fragments of a piecemeal story. These fragments are constantly rearranged to tell a different story according to the dominant narrative. The arrangement of these fragments of storytelling form part of the generally unknown or suppressed mechanisms and processes of the deliberate management and conditioning of human consciousness. One of these lucrative sites of targeting is through the medium of the paranormal; this is also a secret realm of the infliction of trauma upon the individual and collective mind.

In past eras, this has been maintained through narratives of myth, legend, mystic-themed paradigms, occultism, and the sustained secrecy of certain ‘secret societies’.

The thoughts, beliefs, and opinions that were ‘available for use’ within the social collective of the masses have always been limited by regulation. For such a long time, information came from localised sources and was heavily governed by those same sources.

However, as the general level of conscious awareness rises, the control systems also become more complex and sophisticated. Not only do such conditioning mechanisms operate through well-known social-cultural institutions – education, politics, law, the media, and many more (as have been well-documented) – they also work more stealthily through paranormal phenomena.

As the author, scientist and paranormal investigator Jacques Vallee stated: “I propose the hypothesis that there is a control system for human consciousness… Human life is ruled by imagination and myth. These obey strict laws and they, too, are governed by control systems… What could paranormal phenomena control? I suggest that it is human belief that is being controlled and conditioned.”¹

Over an extended period of time, new mythologies are formed and planted into mass human consciousness, functioning as conductors controlling human beliefs, ideas and ideals – which then develop into ideologies. These modulating factors then gain a controlling influence over the relationship between human consciousness and physical reality.

Such mechanisms have been in force throughout a great span of human history and operate to manipulate human minds by sources largely external to us. These are deliberate attempts to diminish our sense of reality, making people more suggestible and open for programming and creating a psychic numbness that restricts the range of human perception.

Recently, such programming has been applied to paranormal, metaphysical, and spiritual phenomena and experiences.

Socio-Spiritual Engineering

Socio-spiritual engineering can be regarded as a form of ‘culture-making’ prevalent throughout many cultural events and iconic movements. Some of these strategies were developed and implemented through high-level institutes establishing themselves as credible social enterprises (such as the Tavistock Institute in the UK).

The structures that uphold physical reality (including belief structures) are diametrically positioned against phenomena that may substantiate a spiritual or metaphysical reality. That is, the tangibility of the physical domain and the intangibility of the metaphysical realm are not only placed in opposition, but their potentials are fragmented. This once clandestine method operates so that phenomena and events are orchestrated to break down the wholeness or credibility of each realm. In this, the ‘unidentified spectre’ plays the perfect role.

Mysterious or so-called unexplained phenomena act as a direct challenge to the established consensus reality or narrative. Consensus reality is the ultimate secret society, with most people unaware of its existence or that they have been inducted as members. To introduce rapid programming and psychological fluctuations into the mass mind, it is best to maintain a series of ‘anomalies’ within the system that can be utilised to create episodes of fragmentation and disassociation. This is when spectres are brought out from behind the veil.

Mystification has long been a highly effective weapon of psychological warfare. Such elements have also played into the creation of myths as a form of social engineering. Social myths and mystification can be used as channels for the directing of, and influence of, the human psyche and psychic energies. Manipulated and/or controlled events have the power to affect and influence both the conscious and the unconscious mind.

This can be utilised to create a split between what we are told to believe through our conditioning and what may be experienced in the metaphysical realm. This discrepancy can create a rift in the human psyche and fragment our ‘sense of reality’, which can then sow the seeds of psychological imbalance.

Paranormal phenomena can be exploited to create an ambiguity that produces a state of ‘deferred closure’. That is, because the conditioned rational mind cannot create a closure (i.e., there is no ultimate solution), this creates dissonance. This dissonance is further reinforced through the dissemination and circulation of alternative and differing answers that, while promising to satisfy, end up confusing the human mind by not allowing a consistent view of reality. This produces a state of ‘closure-starvation’ that will likely persuade a person to accept an explanation offering closure relief.

This procedure of mind programming and manipulation utilises aspects of the ‘secret’ and the ‘suppressed’ to create further programs within consensus reality. The medium of psycho-spiritual phenomena allows conditioning to be implanted more deeply and directly, bypassing much of the conscious mind. In this way, methods of psychological splintering and trauma can be employed. The fact that such implanting can occur with relatively no knowledge or awareness of it shows how little we know about the psychic world of the human being.

In recent years there has been a significant shift in people’s belief patterns regarding the concept of the paranormal. The external layering of the dominant consensus reality works upon the meta-logical level and seeks to program the conscious mind of the individual and the collective. Yet the subconscious (collective) mind is influenced more upon the metaphysical level (as was well known to Carl Jung). And in this space, many of our mythological structures have been changing and/or reprogrammed – especially by introducing various psychic phenomena.

Life experience in consensus reality is often programmed through ritual, the intentional design and correspondences of symbols, words, and coordinated actions. It is ceremonial action performed according to a prescribed order. Humanity, for the most part, is immersed within a medium of ritual. Rituals are manipulated practices to obtain a defined outcome. The spectres and spooks that keep popping up in our cultures most likely represent the agents of subterfuge and deception.

Through socio-spiritual engineering, it becomes increasingly difficult to distinguish between the imaginary, the deception, the quasi-reality, and the lesser reality, as people’s reality tunnels are continuously manipulated. Without most people’s awareness, fragmentation and splintering of the human psyche is in effect. What is often perceived as one’s general reality is actually a controlled environment fragmented and stitched together through narratives, stories, and conditioning programs that serve to exert a metaphysical uncertainty and imbalance within many unsuspecting minds.

Paranormal phenomena, such as the UFO spectacle of the last seventy years or so, allow the more transcendental part of the human psyche to intervene and ‘rescue’ us from mundane reality by ‘abducting’ us into its realm. This realm is real enough, albeit a dissociated one. In this way, certain paranormal and/or psycho-spiritual encounters and experiences – whether ‘real’ or not – may serve as a form of initiation into a type of social trauma. This trauma acts on a subtle level, integrating itself into the socio-cultural psyche in a way that splinters the wholeness of the collective mind without pushing it beyond the bounds of social functionality. In this way, says Jasun Horsley, UFO encounters and alien abduction experiences “may be a way for some of us to allow such traumatic material into our awareness in a more ‘magical’ (transcendental) guise.”²

Voices of authority, such as national governments, have been heavily involved in manipulating how psychic phenomena are presented to the public, especially regarding UFOs. For their part, they have been officially denying its existence while at the same time covertly leaking stories confirming that UFOs do exist. This form of ‘subliminal contradiction technique’ has massively increased in the last few years as many top-level sources, including the Pentagon, have gone on record to disclose UFO activity.

Further, in what can be seen as another form of cognitive programming, the United States authorities have begun to refer to UFO phenomena as Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP) in an attempt to control the new phase of the narrative. These forms of ongoing denial, followed by bouts of official or ‘unofficially leaked’ disclosure of suppressed secrets, create a subconscious contradiction that establishes an extreme form of cognitive dissonance within the public mindset. This ongoing inconsistency between two beliefs does not resolve but solidifies uncertainty and dissonance through well-placed subliminal contradictions.

When a subliminal contradiction is accepted without initial resistance, the critical faculty is deactivated, leaving the mind vulnerable and receptive to suggestion. If, at any later point, an official admission claims to give the ‘official version’ of UFO events, then the general public is more likely to accept it with the relief that an answer has finally been found. This ‘relief’ comes as a ‘resolution response’ within the programmed mind.

UFO phenomena is slyly blended here with psychic, paranormal, and metaphysical aspects to colonise and reprogram the ‘spiritual’ domain. These are cunning manoeuvres as many people tend to confuse psychic experience with spiritual attainment. The tendency to willingly indulge in certain psychic or paranormal experiences may work to strengthen false spiritual programming rather than strengthen the inner self.

There is a great need and/or longing within the human condition to access non-visible realms, transcendental states, and similar experiences. This longing, or need, can be a weakness if a person does not show discernment. Belief and imagination can easily be flipped into ideology, insecurity, and doubt.

In recent years, especially, there has been a dramatic rise in insecurity alongside paranormal and psycho-spiritual activity. This is the perfect recipe for splintering the collective psyche and exercising subtle programs of conscious and unconscious trauma.

A Traumatised Reality

Modern societies tend to go through a form of psychological reorganisation of the social system, now and again, which acts as a form of recalibration to keep the social realm from settling down too much.

Whether we are aware of it or not, trauma has always been incorporated into the ‘norm’ in human society, from medical birthing procedures, random acts of violence, institutionalised madness, authoritarian fear strategies, population indoctrinations, religious-cult programming, conditioned education, and more. All these elements combine to create variations upon a divided consciousness. Carl Jung referred to this state as dissociation which acts as a polarising force against psychic integration.

The human psyche is already fragile and hence vulnerable to further triggers toward dissociation. It is suggested that these triggers have been arriving through paranormal experiences; the top of the list is the ‘extra-terrestrial issue’ and UFO phenomena.

This is significant given that there has been a recent increase in UFO-related material within mainstream media. Once regarded as a subject of mainstream ridicule or avoidance, major news outlets (in the US especially) have been carrying reports about ‘credible’ verified sightings. There is speculation that this sudden rise in mainstream reporting (orchestrated through intelligence agencies) belongs to an engineered propaganda operation for preparing the collective mindset for a new ‘paranormal narrative’. That is, another ‘reality-tunnel’ is being constructed for mass release.

For a long time, the subject of ‘aliens’ belonged to a historical lineage of phenomena that included fairies, ‘little people’, nature spirits, djinns, demons, etc. Jungian psychoanalyst Donald Kalsched notes that the word ‘daimonic’ comes from daiomai, which means to divide, and that it originally referred to moments of divided consciousness. Kalsched studied trauma in relation to mytho-poetic manifestations and psycho-spiritual development. Triggers from the mytho-spiritual realm, which includes paranormal experience, can cause a fragmentation of the consciousness (especially in less-grounded individuals). In this case, the external event fuses with a person’s inner psychological state. As Kalsched notes: “The full pathological effect of trauma requires an outer event and a psychological factor. Outer trauma alone doesn’t split the psyche. An inner psychological agency – occasioned by the trauma – does the splitting.”³ Jung referred to these states as ‘splinter-psyches’ where one of the splinter complexes, after the initial trauma, attempts to protect the regressed part like a guardian. This may prevent further psychic integration as the psyche cannot fully integrate or process the experience. The person may try to re-enact or regain the traumatic experience as a way of gaining closure. This may explain some of the obsessive behaviour of paranormal experiencers after the event to keep searching for repeat experiences.

The nefarious agenda of psycho-spiritual programming through metaphysical events is that these ‘inhibited programs’ bypass the conscious mind almost immediately and attach themselves to the parts of the subconscious. That is, the programming bypasses the usual gatekeepers of our minds. Once these mechanisms are in place, they can then be activated whenever there is a need to trigger a part of the collective psyche.

The UFO phenomenon has been gradually sown into our cultural soils for at least the past seven or eight decades. At the same time, the seeds of trauma have scattered throughout various extra-terrestrial contact experiences. It is possible that the ‘alien question’ has been developed as a form of programming to mimic spiritual realities on the psycho-physical level and so prepare the way for something even more traumatic.

The French mystic-philosopher Rene Guenon wrote several books warning that increased materialism and physical trappings will lead to a “solidification of the world,” resulting in “fissures” opening up through which “infra-psychic” forces can enter.⁴ These forces, amongst others, impact the human psychosphere and rewire our internal programming.

There may indeed be some physical brain rewiring going on. As infamous UFO contactee Whitley Streiber says: “If you actually wanted people to increase the use of the right brain, then stressing them would be a way to do it. If you apply trauma in the right way, what you are actually doing is reengineering the brain.”⁵

The unidentified spectres presented to us as ‘suppressed secrets’ may trigger an expansion of consciousness and be a vehicle for traumatic brain programming. Jasun Horsley questions whether splitting the human psyche could be a way of allowing or letting through certain ‘hostile forces’ that may be a part of the shadow psyche. These shadows might then be materialised, or at least experienced, by the psyche as material phenomena.⁶

Letting through these unidentified spectres may be just some of the secret programs operating to splinter the collective human psyche and steer it further away from psychic integration and wholeness.

Interestingly, much of metaphysical phenomena is classed as part of the ‘new paradigm’ and suchlike, as if these elements are part of a new reality consciousness. And yet the very notion of paradigms – and hence, the concept of a ‘new paradigm’ – is an alternative emergence from within existing structures.

As such, metaphysical phenomena and experiences may serve to deceive if they are utilised for simply rearranging the pre-existing furniture of our minds rather than breaking out of these programmed reality-boxes. This deception causes people to believe it is a ‘new reality’ when in fact it is yet another layer within the multi-faceted Matrix.

Another aspect to consider is that metaphysical experiences tend to take the experiencer away from their bodily presence. As the metaphysical and paranormal threads become increasingly woven into the mainstream narrative, we may be witnessing a new programmed reality unfolding that requires a subconscious rejection of the body.

Is the controlling program now intent on rejecting the bodily-physical as part of the rising human-machine narrative? In this, and so much more, we must apply our perceptive awareness and discernment as never before. The Game is On.

Aviation history’s greatest enigma unfolded on 8 March 2014. The disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 with 239 passengers and crew members on board sparked the world’s largest, most intense and expensive air-sea rescue operation. It involved more than ten thousand personnel from twenty nations operating sixty surface ships and underwater vessels, plus fifty aircraft, across 46,000 square miles of ocean, at a cost of $56 million. After a three-year search, they found no trace of the vanished airplane. A US marine robotics company, Ocean Infinity, conducted a second search in 2018 without success. 

Three years later, a native beachcomber stumbled upon a piece of allegedly associated debris washed ashore at Réunion, a tropical island off the east coast of Africa, five hundred miles from Madagascar. The flaperon – a type of trailing edge control surface combining the functions of both flaps and ailerons on an aircraft wing – has just one of three digits matching Flight 370’s serial number. Malaysia Airlines officials nonetheless announced without hesitation that the Réunion fragment proved their jetliner had gone down into the sea, based on a single piece of questionable evidence. Even if it did, in fact, originally belong to MH370, it was one of over three million parts with which the missing Boeing 777-200ER had been constructed. 

Why were no more ever found? A majority of them are buoyant. The heavy engines are mostly the only elements prone to sink. Aircraft do not plunge into the water like falling stones because they are essentially hollow tubes – not uniformly solid objects, but pieced together with numerous component parts, which typically break off into trails of scattered debris when coming into contact with the surface. An airplane like the Malaysian specimen would have disintegrated in a broad swath of flotsam after impacting the water, even at its landing speed of 161 miles per hour.

When Trans World Airlines Flight 800 exploded and crashed into the Atlantic Ocean near East Moriches, New York, on 17 July 1996, investigators recovered enough wreckage to almost rebuild the downed Boeing 747-100. If Flight 370 had flown into the Indian Ocean, an airplane of that equivalent size and a significant number of parts would have similarly left a profuse field of wreckage recognised by the more than ten thousand professional observers almost immediately after their search-and-rescue efforts began. 

Earlier still, such an impact would have been detected the moment it occurred by at least several of the hundreds of military and corporate satellites daily and constantly monitoring every square yard of our planet, with high-definition imagery down to sharp resolution of an automobile license plate from altitudes up to 1,200 miles high. This Space Age technology is not new. It was in place years before the Malaysia airliner vanished and should have unquestionably detected and video-documented its collision with the water, had such occurred. 

Earth’s lakes and seas are likewise under round-the-clock hydrophone surveillance, as demonstrated by US Navy acoustic sensors, which detected the much smaller Titan imploding in the North Atlantic last 18 June, when the eleven-and-a-half-ton submersible began its fatal descent. The same sensors would not have missed the far greater sound made by a 383-ton Boeing 777 striking the Indian Ocean. At least four major electronic listening posts, operating twenty-four hours per day, have, in fact, all the seas of the world acoustically wired for any significant disturbance. 

In brief, if a three-year search conducted by twenty nations could not find the airliner, which also escaped the notice of Earth-scanning space satellites together with a worldwide hydrophone network, it could not have crashed anywhere on land or water. But the mystery of Flight 370 preceded its disappearance. Examination of its passenger list calls into question official narratives categorising the event as not yet entirely explicable but otherwise surely accidental. 

Passenger Anomalies

Zhao Qiwei was a thirty-seven-year-old Chinese man returning to his home in Beijing, Flight 370’s scheduled destination. Malaysian police investigators later learned that his passport was fake, a professionally made copy of the original belonging to the real Zhao Qiwei, a resident of distant Fiji who had never travelled abroad. 

Other identity improprieties involved passengers from the Middle East. The stolen passports of an Italian (Luigi Maraldi, 37 years old) and an Austrian (Christian Kozel, 30) were used by a pair of Iranians to board the airliner. They were joined by two more Iranians using stolen travel documents – 18-year-old Pouri Nour Mohammad, and Delavar Seyed Mohammadreza, 29. While irregularities such as these are undoubtedly more common in Southeast Asia than in the United States, five passport criminals – four of them from Iran – together on the same flight, seems excessive by any comparisons. 

Stranger still, twenty other passengers worked for the same firm, Freescale Semiconductor, Inc. Their presence aboard a single airliner was in violation of standard corporate practices, which ordain that no more than three employed scientists of a developmental company may share the same aircraft, as a precaution against their accidental deaths, which would seriously damage heavily invested research projects. 

Freescale Semiconductor, Inc. was a Texas-based technology giant on the cutting-edge of applied electrical engineering, such as “chips that can be embedded as identity tags into cash, passports or even human bodies,” according to Sheppard Ambellas, founder and editor-in-chief of Intellihub News. “The chip can replace barcode tags in retail goods and can be inserted into the human body, animals, bullets, credit cards, and other items for verification purposes. The made-in-Malaysia microchip measuring 0.5 mm X 0.5 mm – the size of a decimal point – uses the radio frequency identification (RFID) chip technology.”¹ 

Other important uses include the detection and extraction of new oil deposits. These technological advances are made possible by semiconductors, composed of a solid substance with conductivity between an insulator and that of most metals. Devices made of semiconductors, notably silicon, are essential components in most electronic circuits. And Freescale Semiconductors, Inc. was the leader in this field. 

Its twenty doomed and inexplicably herded together computer scientists were joined by yet another fourteen electrical engineers and professionals in related research. Liang Xuyang was an engineer working for Huawei Technologies Company, Ltd., another multinational corporation, this one Chinese, that designs, develops, manufactures and sells telecommunications equipment, consumer electronics, and smart devices. Tian Junwei was another Huawei electrical engineer. Others aboard were Vinod Kolekar, a retired electrical engineer at one of India’s biggest conglomerates, Mahindra and Mahindra; Chang Mei, worked for Eastman Chemical Company in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Selamat Mohdkhairulamri, a Malaysian aviation engineer; Li Yanlin, from China’s telecommunications company, ZTE; Nor Fadzillah Mat Rahim, a Queen’s University graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and his wife, Azrai Izet Mohammad, another electrical engineer. 

Four more of their fellow passengers held important positions in software and telecommunication corporations. Forty-four-year-old Gan Tao belonged to the Halliburton Company of the infamous Dick Cheney. An American multinational firm, Halliburton is the world’s second-largest oil concern and responsible for most of the biggest fracking operations anywhere. What was a man like that doing on a regular commercial airliner to China? No less perplexing was Zhang Jianwu, an official from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, a state-run propaganda organ of the Communist Party. How did he and his singular, though professionally related fellow passengers come to share the same flight to oblivion? These leads, as peculiar as they were, went nowhere toward on understanding of what actually happened. Until recently. 

Whistleblower Video Evidence

Sometime immediately after the incident, three brief visual documents purporting to show the final moments of Flight 370 began making the rounds of physicists and computer experts. Most dismissed the videos as a skilfully contrived, photoshopped hoax, while a minority of viewers were unsure. The one-minute clips were alleged to have been covertly released by an anonymous US government whistleblower just days following the airliner’s disappearance. 

Years later, another US federal employee with top-secret clearance as a scientist under contract subjected the images – still unknown outside professional circles – to intense, rigorous scrutiny with the aid of software specialists utilising state-of-the-art research programming. They not only verified beyond a shadow of a doubt that the controversial clips were unquestionably authentic but learned from the imagery what became of Malaysian Airlines Flight 370. “The whole narrative around the south Indian Ocean is built on a lie,” declared the new whistleblower.² 

Ashton Forbes went public with his revelation, posted the videos on Twitter, and applied in writing to the US Congress for a hearing. “I am willing to testify in front of congress,” he wrote, “as to the authenticity of these videos and explain every aspect of them. I would also invite physics experts to validate the science on display. The videos in question are that of the true fate of Malaysian Airlines Flight 370… The dates are damning. Satellite Video Received March 12, 2014, uploaded May 19, 2014. 

“So why now, many ask? Because only in 2023 do we have the basis to understand these videos to be real… Without all these things, the MH370 videos seem like magic. We know the location of the videos because the investigative group I started, MH370x, satellite experts used amateur historical trajectories to identify the correct satellite in the correct position to take the 3D stereoscopic video we see. 

“We can see six sets of coordinates in the satellite video which we had incorrectly thought were in the South Indian Ocean until we were able to realise the only possible location was the Nicobar Islands [located in the Indian Ocean about 800 miles east of Sri Lanka], because the plane is turning left in both videos, and due to the coordinate shifts. This means the plane is turning south and to the east. 

“The satellite and witness (Katherine Tee [she and eight other eye-witnesses – fishermen – saw the aircraft glowing orange and trailing smoke as it descended]) indicate the time is 18:40 UTC [Coordinated Universal Time, the primary standard by which the world regulates clocks; 18:40 UTC equates to 2:40 a.m., local Malaysian time], March 7th, 2014… We have definitively proved every aspect of the videos to be authentic. We know the assets, the time, the location, we have a witness… 

“There was no debris field, which is impossible for a 777 crashing into the ocean. The small amounts of debris found are consistent with the fire scenario, and some debris had burn marks. A fire suppression device from a Boeing-777 washed up in the Maldives and was not investigated, despite having visible serial numbers.

“We know that the ‘official’ narratives are a lie to cover up that this technology was deployed to either save the plane or as espionage to prevent the twenty Freescale Semiconductor scientists onboard from going to China. I suspect they are integral to the technology we see. 

“We know the plane didn’t crash into the ocean because the SOSUS system [the SOund SUrveillance System provides deep-water, long-range detection capability] didn’t hear the acoustic sound. The same system that heard the Titan sub pop, and the Navy lied about it for five days, while oxygen counters were on every major news channel. The Diego Garcia hydrophones [in the Maldives Islands, south of India] and Western Australia hydrophones also didn’t hear it [Flight 370’s alleged plunge into the sea]. 

“I was also able to identify the leaker of the videos as being Lieutenant Commander, Edward C. Lin. He checks every box to be the leaker. Our Government attempted to put him in prison for life as a traitor, but he is no spy. Edward C. Lin is a hero. He took a plea deal after he was convinced he damaged national security, but he never revealed this information to our enemies. He simply wanted to do the right thing and tell the world the truth of this technology and what happened to MH370. He was sentenced to nine years in prison and likely is bound by his plea deal to never speak about the videos again. We can vindicate this man as well as everyone else who was lied to or discredited… 

“I know the videos seem impossible, but they are authentic. They are not CGI [‘Computer-Generated Imagery’, a specific-technology or application of computer graphics for creating or improving images in videos]… hundreds of community VFX experts [an abbreviation for ‘visual effects’] have analysed the footage frame by frame and not a single discrepancy can be found. The list of requirements to ‘hoax’ the videos is practically impossible… 

“The reason I am requesting a public congressional hearing is because I believe the weight of the evidence can convince enough people in congress that the true events of MH370 were covered up by our own government…” 

Lieutenant Commander Lin allegedly leaked the initial military satellite video four days after it was made, followed on 5 June by a second version that was almost identical because it had originally operated at the same moment in tandem with the first, as a backup, from a slightly different perspective. One of the satellites, Forbes writes in his letter to Congress, is “a MQ-1C Gray Eagle with a thermal layer added by the leaker, and the other is a 3D ‘battlespace’ produced by the SBIRS (Space Based Infrared System), via SIGINT (Signals Intelligence), using data from Spy Satellite USA-229, which has a sister satellite next to it classified as debris. This allows for the proven 3D stereoscopic imagery we see in the satellite video.”³

In other words, there are multiple, simultaneous views of the same subject from different angles. “We have three sources of corroboration for these videos,” Forbes explains. “I would argue that we have more evidence that these videos are real than any other court case in human history.”⁴

Three Orbs Surround Plane on Videos

They begin by showing a Boeing-777 descending through partially clear skies in a left turn toward open water, a few thousand feet below. Long lines of smoke extend behind the aircraft. These are not to be mistaken for contrails, which manifest only between 25,000 and 40,000 feet. The airplane is shown flying among cumulus clouds, found no higher than 6,000 feet. A fire is burning in the ventral cargo bay, as indicated by the video’s thermal layering, which displays a tell-tale red hot-spot at the central underside. 

The visually captured aircraft was positively identified as Flight 370 by the spy satellite’s recorded time-stamp, which matched the time needed for the Boeing-777 to travel the distance from its last sighting outside Penang Island to its sudden disappearance near the Nicobar Islands. A few seconds into the video, a bright orb abruptly initiates spherical intercept manoeuvres around the distressed airplane. A moment later, a second object is seen rising at great speed from the sea below and through a cloud to follow its companion in rapidly orbiting the Malaysian airliner. They are joined by yet another orb that literally fly rings around the jetliner. 

All three are identically circular, ten to fifteen feet in diameter, dull-metallic silver, and recognised by thermal layering as exceptionally hot. Ashton Forbes calculated they flew “ten times faster than the plane.”⁵ Given that the cruising speed of a Boeing-777 is 590.8 miles per hour, that would put the orbs at 5,908 mph, faster than Mach 7. By comparison, the fastest airplane in the world today is the North American X-15 at Mach 6.7, still 1,388 mph slower than the video-documented orbs. If so, occupants inside these vehicles would have been reduced to melted butter by the impossible manoeuvres repeatedly executed, which even exceeded the stress tolerances of any known materials. 

Nevertheless, in the blink of an eye, the orbs suddenly re-arranged themselves into a vertically aligned, locked formation to reverse themselves in the opposite direction of their flight path – a physical impossibility. Two seconds later, a brief, brilliant flash reflects off the clouds. Flight 370 and its trio of orbs are gone. No debris is visible. No fragments of wreckage flutter down toward the sea below. Only the long trails of smoke left by the vanished airliner have come to a stop for lack of forward momentum hanging in the air. 

The satellite videos enable viewers to reconstruct the tragedy. On the early morning of 8 March 2014 at 12.41 am the Malaysian airliner departed Kuala Lumpur International Airport. Officially, it lost radio contact with ATC (air traffic control) two hours and one minute later because, by then, Captain Zaharie Ahmad Shah shut down all but the most essential electrical circuitry, as his first counter-active measure against a fire just making itself known in the cargo bay. He then executed a sharp left turn to the southwest on a direct heading for the nearest airport at George Town, on Penang Island. 

By the time MH370 arrived there, more than two hours later, the onboard fire had been apparently contained, if not entirely extinguished, but the airplane’s damaged landing gear could not be extended. Reactivating radio communications, the pilot was denied arrival permission by Penang International Airport authorities because they regarded a crash-landing with too much fuel still in the jetliner’s tanks – a prospect compounded by the unresolved cargo bay emergency – not feasible. For causes unknown, Flight 370 then proceeded out over the Indian Ocean on a northwesterly course.⁶ 

Before it reached the vicinity of the Nicobar Islands, the dormant conflagration flared up again, characteristic of lithium-ion battery fires. The consequent loss of cabin pressure explains why the Boeing-777 shown in the videos was flying at only a few thousand feet. Trailing smoke, but still under control, it spiralled toward the sea in Captain Zaharie Ahmad Shah’s apparent intention to set his burning aircraft down on the surface of the water, a risky alternative in any circumstances, made especially hazardous in conditions of total darkness. 

At less than five thousand feet, the airliner was intercepted by three metallic orbs. They performed high-speed manoeuvres around it in formation for twenty-nine seconds before the airplane and its unconventional escorts vanished in a bright flash. “We know that there was a fire on the plane likely from the lithium-ion batteries which broke containment,” Ashton Forbes wrote Congress, “causing Halon gas to permeate throughout the plane.”⁷ 

Flight 370 had been loaded with no less than 487 pounds of lithium-ion batteries hastily assembled just one day previous to its take-off date. Although quite capable of self-igniting, they were at least potentially part of the jetliner’s intentional destruction, disguised as an industrial accident. For example, contrary to company dictates, the inflammable power-packs did not go through security screening at the plant where they had been manufactured before the lorry carrying them was sealed for transfer to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport. 

When they arrived, the combustible consignment was hurried aboard the jetliner without having gone through any additional inspections, per standard airport safety procedures, before departure. These security lapses allowed sufficient time for someone to insert among the lithium-ion consignment a simple clockwork triggering device for igniting the batteries long after the passenger plane became airborne. A would-be mass murderer possessed easy access to the means and opportunity for sabotaging MH370. But who had the motive? 

Was MH370 Taken Out over Stolen High Level Tech Secrets?

An answer may lie with the twenty top developmental Freescale Semiconductor scientists aboard. Their untypically high number travelling together on a single flight, combined with another fourteen of their professionally and racially related colleagues, suggests they may have become dissatisfied with their Texas employer and were flying to a new, kindred boss in China. 

“It has also been mentioned in a statement by a company spokesperson,” according to Sheppard Ambellas, “that the employees who were aboard MH370 were extremely talented and valuable in the technological field… The convenient end to the lives of these technicians denies China groundbreaking military-applications technology that would have very likely been privately leaked or sold to them and widely pirated by China for military and commercial purposes.”

He goes on to tell how four of Flight 370’s Freescale Semiconductor passengers “were reported by several sources to have been US patent holders of a new technology with wider military applications. This would likely have been a breach of protocol, but at the least, a costly oversight. In fact, it’s been reported that Peid Ong Wang, Zhijun Chen, Zhihong Cheng and Li Ying, Freescale employees from China, who were said to have been onboard Flight 370, were each 20% holders of US Patent #US008671381B1. 

“Shockingly, the remaining 20% has been reported to be held by Freescale Semiconductor, Inc., which now after the disappearance of Flight 370 becomes the sole patent holder… Freescale Semiconductor is primarily owned by the Blackstone Group; i.e., Lord Jacob Rothschild… In laymen’s terms, Lord Jacob Rothschild is now the patent holder by virtue of invested interest into Freescale Semiconductor, Inc.… the Rothschild dynasty owns the Malaysian Central Bank, which, in turn, is heavily invested into the Malaysian government and Malaysian Airlines.”⁸ (Note: Freescale Semiconductor no longer operates and was absorbed into NXP Semiconductors in 2015.)

Ashton Forbes concurs that MH370 may have been the victim of “espionage to prevent the twenty Freescale Semiconductor scientists onboard from going to China.”⁹ But he disagrees with findings concerning their roles in the tragedy as patent holders, whose disappearance benefited their American employer – the conspiratorial cause behind said fate. 

He also disregards the three orbs that accompanied Flight 370 in its last moments as Extraterrestrial Unidentified Flying Objects, or “Unidentified Aerial Phenomena,” as the US military has recently come to recognise them. 

“Everything we see in these videos can be explained by science,” he says. “This is not ‘aliens’ in these videos. This is our technology… This is a US Government operation… The orbs in this video are ignoring gravity, being pulled forward by some ‘gravity engine’… The explanation for their pattern is artificial intelligence, a computer program.”¹⁰ He speculates that the flash in which MH370 vanished was a manmade “energetic event” that did not destroy the airliner but “tele-transported it,” with passengers and crew, to another place, wherever that might be.¹¹ 

Readers may or may not find it plausible that the physicists of some earthly power – the United States, most likely, but possibly Russia, or even China – have actually developed such super-advanced technology, which, no less remarkably, they have kept otherwise perfectly secret for the last nine years, at least. Perhaps we should also allow that mankind might not have an exclusive claim on being a civilised species among the estimated six billion Earth-like worlds in our galaxy alone.¹² Some astronomers believe that even if all these “exo-planets” are inhabited by creatures capable of space flight, they are impossibly and forever separated from each other by the impassable number of light-year distances separating them. This theory is based on the supposition that no technology allowing travel beyond the speed of light can ever be developed.

Putting these cosmic considerations into a human historical context, less than five hundred years ago, when Mesoamerica was approaching its imperial apogee, its five million Aztecs never imagined anything resembling their great, civilised achievement existed anywhere else on Earth. But when the time came, they could not get over the culture shock of racially unknown foreigners commanding an unimaginably superior technology that enabled them to cross the seas, which hitherto seemed impassable, when they suddenly appeared in large numbers along the eastern shores of Mexico. It was less the Spanish Conquistadors’ gunpowder cannons or steel armour, however, before which Emperor Moctezuma’s vast armies of previously invincible warriors melted away, than his and their constricted conception of the world, which left no room for the possibility of other, more advanced civilisations. Therein lies a cautionary parallel we may do well to consider. 

Coming to grips with the admittedly bizarre evidence presented here, following Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s prescription for separating fact from fiction might be helpful: “When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.”¹³

There are a multitude of energy lines traversing the globe – some natural, others man-made. Most of these energy lines have a subtle effect on the human body as we are also made of energy. Some energy frequencies nurture and harmonise our own frequencies, while others disrupt them. 

Collectively, earth energy lines are often connected to ‘geopathic stress’ when they are unbalanced or causing some disruption in the human energy field. These include electromagnetic lines, fault lines, water lines and ley lines. This article focuses on ley lines, a term often confused with other geopathic lines of energy. 

Most other lines are natural to the earth, can move in a meandering way like a river, and have no intentional purpose towards humans (even though we can benefit from their energy). Ley lines can often be found in conjunction with these lines, however a ley line is always straight, is man-made in some way, and has a purpose of communication.

There are three types of ley lines: global, local and personal. Global and local ley lines are usually created intentionally, often using physical objects to transmit energy and are focused to communicate to the wider community or environment. Personal leys tend to be unconsciously sent to an individual. Even though these leys are unintentionally sent, personal ley lines stay with the person or in the environment until intentionally cleared.

The term ley lines was first used by Englishman Alfred Watkins in 1921, when he discovered natural features such as trees or mountain tops, connecting in straight lines with man-made features, such as old churches, sign posts and wells, spanning across the English countryside. He theorised that these man-made markers were for the purpose of travelling vast distances, like a guide map. These lines were of a more physical nature to communicate direction for travel. Since then, geomancers have discovered many leys can also be purely of an energetic nature, but still form some sort of communication purpose.

Some global and local ley lines also follow the paths of the Earth’s natural energy lines, drawing on the natural energy for their own purpose. The ley will always be intentionally positioned and communicating something. For example, church builders may have been attracted to a building site because of the energy in the land, such as underground water lines or electromagnetic lines. The pulpit may be placed above the nature energy to boost the message, which is sent out through the man-made ley line. The ley line is built connecting the pulpit in a straight line with upright stones, other churches or the town’s well, to subtly spread the ‘word’ throughout the community. A ley line usually has a minimum of three markers relaying the message (often large quartz filled rocks, as quartz can store and transmit information). 

The master builders of the gothic cathedrals created vast entrances using geometry to inspire awe and used sound technology to resonate chanting to evoke emotional responses. Is it that hard to believe that at some point in our past we knew how to send subtle communications and evoke emotional responses through the air and ground? (Well, we do now – it’s called the World Wide Web on Wi-Fi!)

On a global scale it is unknown who set up the ley lines or what is being communicated. In Sacred Geometry of the Earth: The Ancient Matrix of Monuments and Mountains (reviewed in New Dawn 158) authors Mark Vidler and Catherine Youngshow global alignments of natural features such as mountains and coastlines mainly forming triangular shapes. Where a natural feature didn’t form a triangle an ancient man-made structure was usually found. These included mounds, henges or buildings, as well as sacred sites, such as the Great Pyramid of Giza, Stonehenge, the Carnac stones and Angkor Wat. Why did someone want to make geometric shapes that span continents? 

According to Hermetic literature and the Dome Theory, dome shaped energies were sent down from spaceships spreading love and light via ley lines around the world. This energy was to aid in the evolution of humanity.¹ Ancient man or aliens – whoever built these leys or what they were communicating remains a mystery. 

There is a theory that the Great Pyramid may have been an electrical power generator using the obelisks to wirelessly send electricity around the globe. The great inventor and engineer Nikola Tesla also tried to send electricity wirelessly with his power generators rumoured to be situated on ley lines. Perhaps the hundreds of quartz filled, large standing stones at Carnac, France, are just an ancient world telephone exchange!

Ley lines on a local level radiate from places of worship, town halls, governments or palaces into the community to communicate messages from the ‘powers that be’ to the unsuspecting townsfolk. The most famous local ley line is the St. Michael Ley in England. This ley connects many sites dedicated to St. Michael and follows the path of the sun on the 8^th May, St. Michael’s day. This ley also intersects with leys in France and Greece. 

Both the French and the English leylines have clear signs of prehistoric activity along its path (such as the Hurlers, Glastonbury, Avebury, Waulad’s Bank, Dol-de-Breton), and also ancient traditions of celebrating with fires on beacon-hills on may-day (St. Michael’s day), all of which reinforce the idea of a ‘functional’ and operative alignment with prehistoric roots. Both alignments also include numerous churches and pilgrimage points dedicated to St. Michael (Apollo), that were ‘reinforced’ throughout the middle-ages by the church. One suspects that an ancient tradition has been passed on either knowingly or unsuspectingly during the Pagan/Christian conversion of Europe.²

Not all local leys are used for manipulation or brainwashing; some can have a beneficial effect such as feelings of peace and for healing. For thousands of years people poured energy into these lines via the various temples and places of worships (like relay towers), making the energy lines stronger. A very spiritual place is where the Apollo and Athena leys (named as their temples lay along the line) cross at Notre Dame Sous La Terre, France.

Australia’s Aborigines have ‘songlines’ which map out vast tracks across Australia. These help to physically navigate the landscape just as Watkins thought the purpose of leys were in England – signposts. The songlines are not straight or man-made, therefore do not fit the definition of a ley line, however the Aborigines in their sacred wisdom do have some way of sending specific messages instantly between peoples over vast distances. 

Most local leys are hundreds of years old, however this technology is still being used today. Search the Internet for leys in Australia and you will find suspected links between Canberra to the Vatican through Pine Gap; a HAARP installation at Exmouth WA linked to its installation in Alaska and to Canberra, intentionally situated to promote mind control or for influencing the weather.³

Many local and global ley lines have been charted (especially in England where ‘ley-hunting’ has been a craze since Watkins’s time) but they are often confused with being either part of the natural environment or simply sign posts for travel. The larger purpose of intentional communication has not been fully grasped. These ley lines may draw on the Earth’s natural lines of energy for power, but the emotion or thought they are carrying has been inputted at some time by outside influences. 

Another characteristic of ley lines is that their energetic blueprints stay in the environment, even if the initial structures are long gone, still holding and possibly transmitting the ‘message’. 

Energy Cords & Personal Ley Lines

Personal ley lines can also use structures to relay messages; they tend to target a person through their bed, stove or computer. One of the main differences with personal ley lines is that they are usually unintentionally transmitted, whereas local and global ley lines are more consciously laid out (although some personal ones are conscious and may be vice versa for the larger ones).

Energy lines between people, often referred to as ‘cords’, occur in a personal, emotional relationship, such as between lovers or parent and child. Similar to ley lines, they transmit emotions (positive and negative) and have to be energetically removed. These cords attach to the body usually through the chakra system, are created by interpersonal relationships, and can last forever. Personal ley lines can be sent from anyone, from anywhere around the world and affect the person through objects as well as being sometimes attached to the body. Personal leys usually attach to a person’s bed affecting rest and rejuvenation, the oven to restrict nourishment, or the computer to upset business or mental pursuits. Cords can be positively based, such as sharing a love bond, or negative with one person draining the energy from another. All personal ley lines I have ever found during my Geomancy work, using dowsing, have had a negative impact on the person and have to be removed. This may be a subtle draining of energy and health over a long time or have an immediate physical effect, depending on the initial event that set-up the ley and the amount of emotion fed into it.

The most dramatic situation I encountered was with a vet nurse in her thirties who developed severe arthritis in her wrist and knee joints. She suffered with this condition for three months, trying many different remedies to no avail. I found a ley line hitting her bed and oven, which was being sent unconsciously by a lady whose cat had been put down at the vet. The vet nurse had become the focal point for the cat owner’s grief. Together we sent loving energy back down the ley to the cat owner, thus closing the ley. The next morning the arthritis was gone, never to return. 

Other leys are more subtle; another client had a personal ley line hitting her bed and oven, sent by her ex-husband of more than twenty years ago. They had married young and weren’t together long, but the husband was obviously disgruntled at being left for her current husband, thus unknowingly creating this ley line. The ley line wasn’t very strong, but had stayed with the lady for 20 years, moving with her through a number of addresses and after having three children with her new husband. The ‘communication’ of this ley was depleting her relationship energy; six months after clearing the ley the lady felt that her relationship with her husband had become “stronger and somehow more connected.”

Many years ago when running New Age events, I had a ley line hitting my computer from a local church group. They were against my business (not that they understood anything about what I was doing!). This ley line was unintentional as the group didn’t purposefully create the line; however they did intend to send negative energy in their prayers to shut me down. They were not targeting me personally, thus the bed and oven were not affected. I experienced a week of setbacks, miscommunications and foggy thinking about my business before I thought to dowse for some clues as to what was going on, thus finding and clearing the ley line. If this ley line had continued, whether the group kept feeding energy into it or not, it would have greatly affected my business. 

Some personal ley lines are created by a one-off strong emotional event, but most are created by constantly feeding emotion towards a person. The worrying thing about the above situation for me was that there was a small group of people sending out negative thoughts and emotions (or asking their god to do it) intentionally to disrupt my business. I closed the ley by sending love and light back to the church group (after I had calmed down and centred myself!).

Personal ley lines can travel with a person as they move residences and can also be left on a property from a previous resident, thus affecting the new homeowners. I’m not sure if they duplicate for this purpose or if some move and others don’t depending on the energy being sent through them. Most ley lines I have cleared from houses have been directed at past owners, therefore I am unsure if a line still connects to those people or not. Leys can also travel over any distance; time and space do not influence these energy lines. The shortest ley I have encountered was only a few meters long, starting from one desk in an open office space to another desk. The manager confirmed encountering trouble between these two workers.

Dennis Toop, a dowser from South Australia with over 50 years experience, remotely checks for and clears personal ley lines, through his business The Property Healer (www.thepropertyhealer.com). Dennis’s focus is helping property owners balance the energy of their homes ready for sale. He defines ley lines as: 

…set up by people’s thoughts about another person or group of people. For example, a business owner may be in conflict with an employee who thinks negatively about them, thereby setting up a dowseable negative ley line. On the other hand, a positive ley line could be set up by someone thinking fondly of their child living in another suburb. For most houses strong, personal and negative ley lines are the most problematic. I’ve found ley lines can be from a single source, e.g. any place where people are stressed; airports, hospitals, funeral homes, old folks homes, mental institutions; these just radiate out into the surroundings. If you happen to sit in your lounge chair in one of these you will feel depressed. I find that this is the chair no one sits in but have no idea why. Ley lines are so important regarding the vibe of any property and relate to past human interactions which explains what people are picking up on, once put in place they just seem to stay in place until another thought cancels it out.

As the universal law goes, “what you send out, you get back multiplied,” therefore it is not only the recipient of the ley line that is being affected but also the sender. Ley lines become stronger when constant thoughts are channelled into them, e.g. “I hate you,” “Why did you do this to me?,” “I’ll never forgive you,” “I hope you suffer,” etc. The intention may not be to really harm a person, you’re just angry or worrying, but a ley line may occur that stays with both you and the recipient forever, draining both your energies. If you intentionally send a ley line to harm someone, then it will rebound on you as well.

BALANCING LEY LINES

Don’t worry about global ley lines; they are still a mystery, working on some larger scale and don’t affect us personally. If you have a local church or other authoritarian institution nearby you suspect of emitting local ley lines, you can consciously or physically place a barrier between your house, facing the institution, with the intent of stopping any subtle communications. In Feng Shui they use a bagua mirror (an eight sided shape with symbols and a round mirror in the centre, see example on right) to reflect back any negative energy. I have one in my back window facing the local church.

To clear a personal ley line from your property (either directed at you or left by past occupants) stand at the end of your bed, oven or computer visualising a line of energy coming in. Then send loving energy back down the line with the intent of closing the ley. You do not need to know from whom the ley came from to be able to clear it. As most ley lines are sent unconsciously, without intent to harm, sometimes it is best not to know who it has come from. Dennis uses “an impeccable thought,” utilising gratitude and love to clear the ley. As Dennis mentions, if you send negativity down the ley it may not close, but make it stronger. Ley lines do not clear themselves; they are created by emotions and mental thoughts and must be cleared in the same manner, with higher frequency emotions and mental thoughts, i.e. love.

If you suspect that you may have created a ley line in the past, visualise the ley line running from your heart chakra to the other person. Consciously send love and gratitude (and maybe an apology for setting up the ley) with the intention of closing the ley. Similar visualisations are used to clear the cords between people, e.g. in your mind’s eye, meet the person on the beach, say what you want to say, send love and thanks, see the cord connecting you both and sever it.

Basically, pure loving energy will always cancel out the negative. There has only been once that I didn’t send love. After the publication of my first article in New Dawn, over three years ago, an intentional ley line was sent to my computer. It was sent from an organisation in America to ‘just keep tabs’ on my writing. I sent them back laughter and thanks for thinking I could be that interesting! This also demonstrates another point about personal ley lines – the sender does not need to know physically where you are to send negative energy.

It may be difficult to imagine a world full of varying energy lines that are impacting on all areas of your life, but in another case of man imitating nature, we have the Internet. Think of global leys as the World Wide Web (they are just there), local leys as Google, Facebook or Amazon (institutions trying to spread their message to the wider community) and personal leys as text messages or Instagram (between people). By being consciously aware of ley lines and clearing them from your home allows you to stop the subtle manipulation by others impacting your life, and to maintain your own energetic integrity.
