The name Harry Turner has returned to prominence after David Grusch, the former US intelligence officer and UAP whistleblower, recently drew attention to Turner’s declassified 1971 Australian Joint Intelligence Organisation report. Here we present Bill Chalker’s article on his friend Harry Turner and Turner’s findings, which now appear to reveal the edges of a much larger cover-up of the UFO phenomenon.

Reading the recently released US Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) report by the Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP) Task Force, I know we have been this way before. Exactly 67 years ago, right here in OZ. There are profound lessons for the Pentagon here.

The headline of Melbourne’s Argus newspaper in its Weekender section of 26 June 1954 read: “‘Saucers’ do exist and why!” The article was written by an “eminent Australian nuclear physicist, who has investigated ‘saucer’ reports since 1948,” whose name “must be withheld because of his link with high-level research.”

The Melbourne Argus was prominently reporting on a massive wave of UFO sightings in Victoria – the most significant of the early sighting waves in Australia that attracted official interest. A classified Directorate of Air Force Intelligence (DAFI) file minute, dated 2 Nov 1955, reads: 

A ministerial statement in the House (Australian parliament – B.C.) on 19 Nov 53 (indicates) that the RAAF make detailed investigations of every report received (which in truth we are not yet doing).

The Australian nuclear physicist stated: 

From all corners of the world there have come thousands of reports of strange objects in the sky… over cities, deserts, mountains and oceans… Radar plots have checked with visual sightings. Jet fighter aircraft have attempted to intercept them and have been out manoeuvred. (Governments)… have set up investigation centres… there remain several hundred reports that can’t be explained… 

Finally, I appeal to the Air Forces and Security Services of the Western World to release their suppressed information….

The Australian scientist hypothesised: 

A certain remnant of reports of UFOs may only be explained by the assumption that machines controlled by some intelligence are being observed….. These machines are not manufactured on earth; that is, their origin is extraterrestrial.

O.H. (Oliver Harry) Turner

The scientist was O.H. (Oliver Harry) Turner, who at that time was working in the physics department of Melbourne University. In 1982, he elaborated on his secret role to me.

DAFI asked Turner to undertake a classified “scientific appreciation” of their files. He recommended greater official interest and specific interest in visual radar reports, concluding: 

The evidence presented by the reports held by RAAF tend to support the… conclusion… that certain strange aircraft have been observed to behave in a manner suggestive of extraterrestrial origin.

DAFI questioned Turner’s findings. They instead followed misleading official US advice, concluding that his recommendations, notably the setting up of a scientific “investigating panel,” were impractical and not justified. 

In studying the RAAF/DAFI UFO files, Turner also utilised retired Marine Corps Major Donald Keyhoe’s USAF reports, described in his bestselling book Flying Saucers from Outer Space, and suggested the RAAF seek official USAF confirmation of the legitimacy of Keyhoe’s data. Turner said of Keyhoe’s “USAF data” that “if one assumes these Intelligence Reports are authentic, then the evidence presented is such that it is difficult to assume any interpretation other than that UFOs are being observed.” 

The disposition of Harry Turner’s controversial report is a revealing indictment of official handling of the UFO controversy. Faced with his provocative conclusions, with Keyhoe’s data as one cornerstone, the Director of Air Force Intelligence (RAAF) did seek official confirmation from America. The Australian Joint Service Staff (intelligence) in Washington wrote to him saying: 

I have discussed with the USAF the status of Major Keyhoe. I understand that his book is written in such a way as to convey the impression that his statements are based on official documents, and there is some suggestion that he has made improper use of information to which he had access while he was serving with the Marine Corps. He has, however, no official status whatsoever and a dim view is taken officially of both him and his works.

When it came to considering Turner’s classified report, the Department of Air concluded: 

Professor Turner accepted Keyhoe’s book as being authentic and based on official releases. Because Turner places so much weight on Keyhoe’s work he emphasised the need to check Keyhoe’s reliability. (The Australian Joint Service Staff communication) removes Keyhoe’s works as a prop for Turner’s work so that the value of the latter’s findings and recommendations is very much reduced.

Turner’s findings, including one in which he recommended setting up a scientific “investigating panel” in light of the “discrediting” of Keyhoe’s data, were found to be impractical and not justified. 

The big problem with all this was that it was based on an act of conscious or unconscious misrepresentation on the part of the US Air Force. They were engaged in a misguided campaign to undermine the popularity of Donald Keyhoe’s books. While Keyhoe may have slightly “beat up” his USAF data, the intelligence reports quoted by Keyhoe and used by Turner to support his conclusions to DAFI were authentic! Eventually, the USAF admitted that Keyhoe’s material was indeed from official Air Force reports. 

In both the US and Australian militaries, political myopia effectively scuttled Australia’s first serious flirtation with a scientific investigation of UFOs. Fortunately, Turner’s secret 1954 report was “located” in classified RAAF UFO policy files that I examined in 1982 with Squadron Leader Ian Frame from DAFI. 

Opening Turner’s UFO Files

I first had contact with Harry Turner back in 1982. He opened his UFO files to me. Turner told me that the case which impressed him the most was when radar at the restricted Woomera rocket range facility in South Australia picked up a UFO on 5 May 1954.

At about 1600 on 5th May, an unidentified Target was observed on radar… The target appeared on High Beam at a range of about 60,000 yards… approaching ‘R’, described a Hyperbola over ‘R’ and went out at a bearing of approx. 90 degrees… I timed it over 15,000 yards 10 seconds which would make its speed approximately 3600 M.P.H.…

From ‘R’, “Vickers-Armstrong” indicated he was 

standing by the Security Officer’s hut, and looking towards the radar post… observing one of our trials through binoculars. This object appeared to be travelling towards me or directly across a path of the approaching [RAAF] the Canberra [jet bomber capable of launching a nuclear strike]. When it got to the path of the Canberra it turned to my right and was going in the direction from which the Canberra had just come.

When it got directly over the Canberra it slowed down. During this time, I found it very hard to believe what I was seeing, so I shut my eyes and then looked again through the binoculars and the object was still stationary over the flight path of the Canberra… The object appeared to be travelling about three times as fast as the Canberra… It was perfectly circular all the time and a dark grey colour…

At the end of 1954, Turner went to England, working at Harwell, the British atomic energy research establishment. Returning to Australia in 1956, he was stationed at Maralinga, until 1964, as the Australian Health Physics representative during the controversial British atomic bomb trials.

By 1968, Harry Turner was working in the Directorate of Scientific and Technical Intelligence (DSTI) of the Joint Intelligence Bureau (JIB – later JIO, then DIO), becoming their head of the nuclear science section. He told me JIB did not want to be drawn on the “UFO problem” which they viewed as a complex conjectural matter that might drag them into the limelight. 

In August 1968, Turner advised the JIB director that “DAFI is not anxious to retain responsibility for UFO analysis but would be prepared to continue collation responsibility” but due to “(a) lack of scientific capability, (b) no specific position has been established for UFO work which means additional duties for personnel allocated to other duties,” meant “many of the explanations offered by DAFI, usually under political pressure, impose a considerable scientific credibility gap.” 

During May 1969, at Turner’s suggestion, a new RAAF UFO report form was devised, intended to give a more scientific slant to the reports. Turner was working secretly with other scientists to set up a “rapid intervention” team to investigate cases of UFO physical evidence (“landing” events) within the Defence Science and Technical Organisation (DSTO), with four or five scientists, and an aircraft on standby. 

In a memo dated 8 November 1969 to the Director of JIB, Turner indicated that he had Dr Morton from ANU, Dr John Symonds from the Australian Atomic Energy Commission, and Dr Michael Duggin, then of the National Standards Laboratory. George Barlow of Defence Science and Technology (DST) also offered to help his group. Arthur Wills, then Chief Defence Scientist, “had agreed to this.” Dr John Farrand, who became chief defence scientist, alerted me to the memo’s existence. The plans for the scientific team had been almost finalised. However, fate intervened. 

Turner’s UFO Investigations Officially Discouraged

In mid-1969, a major UFO flap broke out in Western Australia, centred in Perth, including an impressive visual radar event at Cloverdale, and tracked on Kalamunda radar on 23 May. DAFI asked the Defence “intervention” group to assist. It was not yet in place, so Harry Turner was seconded to help out. He found the radar case intriguing, concluding: “Neither the Kalamunda radar observation nor Mrs. C__’s sighting can be readily explained by conventional objects or phenomena.” He criticised the DAFI system, in particular referring to the lack of assistance given to local Air Force Intelligence officers. Air Force did not take kindly to criticism, particularly when it came from an “outsider” – a JIB scientist. Turner’s access to the DAFI UFO files was withdrawn. 

Harry Turner’s JIB superior, Bob (R.H.) Mathams, the Director of Scientific Intelligence, told me that he didn’t encourage Turner’s UFO interests and that his access to DAFI files was an informal liaison agreement that became unworkable after Defence restructuring. 

JIO’s “dance” with UFOs was almost entirely driven by Turner’s interest. His battle to establish the DSTO “rapid intervention” group continued, with numerous papers and memos in the period 1969 to 1971.

In a January 1970 submission, Turner even utilised Dr Jacque Vallee’s listing of 1,000 worldwide UFO landings or near landing reports (appended in Vallee’s 1969 watershed book Passport to Magonia) to highlight to JIB the potential military threats. 

“The information suggests the existence of 3 ‘weapon systems’ – (1) a device to interfere with electrical circuits, (2) a device to induce paralysis, (3) a heat ray,” related Turner, continuing,

There is circumstantial evidence that these weapons are at times used deliberately, although mostly in a defensive role. A number of reports allege that a lone car at night has been followed, and after being stopped by a beam, some kind of interaction has developed between the car occupants and the landed craft occupants. Information is included which deals with residual effects on the environment of the landed craft. It is these residual effects which offer the greatest potential reward to scientific investigation at this stage.

Even reports of this nature failed to get Turner’s proposed study traction. (Recently, uninformed internet-based ‘researchers’ got excited when they ‘rediscovered’ this document, mistakenly thinking it was a secret official Australian policy document.)

The RAAF’s “UFO problem” continued as an unwanted burden. In July 1971, Captain R.S. Royston (DAFI) wrote: 

Although I am directly concerned with any possible threat to Australian security, I am not particularly interested in the subject of UFOs, even though my directorate devotes valuable time to this problem. I accept the US assessments without question and consider that it would be a complete waste for we here in Australia to spend valuable time and money in further detailed investigations.

JIB deputy director and DSTI head Bob Mathams discussed Turner’s persistent “sub rosa” UFO crusade. Matham stated his position to Turner, specifically from a scientific intelligence point of view, that there were insufficient resources, and that he was not convinced of “a sufficient scientific intelligence component in the UFO problem,” and 

that there is still considerable controversy concerning UFOs and this will undoubtedly continue until the subject is fully examined by some competent authority. Such an examination, however, would require a considerable effort to collect information on UFO sightings, to investigate reports of such sightings and to examine all information in an objective, scientific manner.

The deputy director agreed, revealing (in February 1970): 

I am sure that there is an area for investigation that should be pursued by some authority. That authority, however, would need very considerable resources indeed. I am forced, therefore, whilst agreeing that the subject should be studied somewhere, to decide that JIO cannot be that somewhere. Without considerable back-up we would be wasting our time and the RAAF have apparently cancelled out the little that they were doing.

Lost Opportunities, OZ-style

Harry Turner persisted, even getting the JIO director to sign a May 1971 minute paper on the “Investigation of UFO sightings,” directed to the Deputy Secretary of Defence, that recommended passing on responsibility for the investigation of UFOs from the RAAF to Defence science, as distinct from DSTI (in JIO) which should focus on a limited number of select cases (say six per year) over a two to three year period, after which JIO could make a better determination if “a strategic intelligence interest exists.” 

When DSTO came on the scene in 1974, Turner saw it as potential better home for his ideas. The UFO subject interested people like George Barlow (Defence Science No 2) and Dr John Farrands, the Chief Defence Scientist, but not enough for Turner’s plans to come under their direct remit. Turner’s secret “UFO science war” effort ended. The RAAF’s limited and stagnating approach continued.

Despite the secret UFO science wars orchestrated by Harry Turner, the situation was frustrated by perceptions of limited resources and politicking – a lost opportunity for some solid scientific examination of the UFO mystery, but a situation with powerful lessons for the shape-shifting spectre of more recent dances with the UFO phenomenon – now recast in the tight terminology of UAPs (Unidentified Aerial Phenomena). 

Skinwalker Ranch and the case of Mrs Klein

In October 2021, the book Skinwalkers at the Pentagon: An Insiders’ Account of the Government’s Secret UFO Program by James T. Lacatski, D.Eng., Colm A. Kelleher, PhD, and George Knapp revealed that the US Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA)’s Advanced Aerospace Weapon System Applications Program (AAWSAP) and Utah businessman and space entrepreneur Robert Bigelow’s BAASS (Bigelow Aerospace Advanced Space Studies) program, had examined military and civilian UFO/UAP experiences, and possible “paranormal and correlates” that are strongly anchored in bizarre events at Bigelow’s Skinwalker ranch.

The broader and far stranger aspects of the UFO phenomena that Harry Turner had studied for decades in Australia was now getting a rare focus via the Pentagon.

Driven by Lacatski (DIA), who had his own bizarre experience at the Skinwalker ranch, DIA investigators got dragged into the very weird phenomena. One of the significant Pentagon players, given the pseudonym “Jonathan Axelrod,” 

was also the lead investigator of the now infamous ‘Tic Tac’ case that had embroiled the Nimitz Aircraft Carrier Strike Group in a series of cat and mouse high stakes games off the coast of San Diego… the so-called Tic Tac [UFO] had out-maneuvered and out-performed multiple F/A-18 Hornets…

The book highlights the so-called bizarre “hitchhiker” effect, with “Jonathan Axelrod” and his family as “poster children”, 

for the eruption of anomalies in the home following trips to Skinwalker Ranch… For more than a dozen years following his July 2009 and subsequent trips to the ranch, Axelrod’s wife and (then) teenage children were subjected to nightmarish “dogmen” appearing in their backyard; to blue, red, yellow and white orbs routinely floating through the home and in the yard; to black shadow people standing over their beds when they awoke; and to a relentless barrage of loud, unexplained footsteps walking up and down the stairs in their house… Axelrod and his family were certain that the trigger for this transformation was his first trip to Skinwalker Ranch.

These sorts of bizarre experiences feature in many places, but I’ll describe one from my focus here – Harry Turner.

In July 2002, he handed me ten pages of his handwritten notes about his investigation, in 1971 and 1972, of a Canberra woman, Mrs Klein. In an extraordinary way, these notes prefigured the extraordinary elements of the UFO abduction cases that are better known today. At the time of Harry Turner’s interview, they were completely unknown.

The hidden aspects of the alien abduction mystery would not become generally known until Budd Hopkins described them in his bestselling 1987 book Intruders. Mrs Klein’s story, as captured in Harry Turner’s notes, revealed a potent revelation of the alien abduction contact drama yet to come. Her story was relatively unpolluted by modern culture’s fixation on certain aspects of the phenomenon.

I described Vicki Klein’s strange experiences in detail in my 2005 book Hair of the Alien. Below I describe one bizarre episode that powerfully resonates with those of Axelrod and others in the 2021 Skinwalkers book:

The neighbour Mrs. Z. claimed that during the evening of September 7, 1971, she had gone to the rear of the house because her dog was playing up. Turner’s notes state, “as the dog retreated indoors, she noticed two figures in Mrs. Klein’s backyard… Mrs. Z. thought they must be Mr. and Mrs. Klein but was puzzled as to why they should be standing in that position and be so still. So she went towards them and shone her torch on them. They turned out to be a tall metal-meshed clad figure (like ‘Claude’ – the entity Vicki Klein had been interacting with, unknown at that point to the neighbour), with his ‘dog-faced’ companion. They… gradually faded away.” Harry Turner in his notes reports: “These two disparate types claim they are ‘one people’. The tall blonde… but the ‘dog-faced’ one has pointed ears, eyes with large pupils and no iris… longish flattened nose, thin mouth, dressed in blue-grey tunic with tight banded collar… The dog-faced type can appear to look more human-like if they wish to…” 

Some of the contents of Skinwalkers at the Pentagon makes me think that James Lacatski and the BAASS/AAWSAP teams were shaping up similarly to the network Harry Turner developed in Australia back in the late 1960s and early 1970s from Defence Science and other scientists. 

Perhaps they should consider in detail the legacy of Harry Turner and the secret UFO wars of OZ.

The field of ufology has been getting a lot of media coverage, especially since the publication of The New York Times article “Glowing Auras and Black Money: The Pentagon’s Mysterious U.F.O. Program” (16 December 2017).

This effectively “broke” the UFO story into the mainstream. Since that time, a steady stream of leaks has trickled out to the public via government whistleblowers and witnesses. Governments of many nations, including the United States, have been taking the subject seriously, creating official programs dedicated to finding out more, while rebranding the term “UFO” as UAP (Unidentified Aerial Phenomena). The US Congress holds regular hearings on the topic, most recently in June of 2025. Invariably, they are seeking evidence proving that UAPs are physical craft and the government has advanced technology, reverse-engineered from retrieved UAP wreckage.

What is not discussed directly but hinted at in sound bites and cryptic notes concerns UAPs as being non-material and interdimensional in nature. This information seems to be suppressed by the powers-that-be, though some are trying to leak it out, even at great risk to their own well-being.

Such is the case with former intelligence official David Grusch. In his testimonies before Congress, Grusch claims the US government possesses non-human spacecraft as well as “non-human biologics” retrieved from crashed UAPs. He accuses the government of actively concealing information about UAPs and “extraterrestrials.” Grusch also used the term “interdimensional” to describe a potential origin for some of these UAPs, suggesting the craft can travel between dimensions of space and time. 

A more recent example involves Mathew Brown. Brown is the newly minted whistleblower on the block, making his public debut appropriately enough on Jeremy Corbell and George Knapp’s Weaponized podcast this past May. Brown authored the Immaculate Constellation Report, which was submitted into the Congressional Record in November 2024. Immaculate Constellation, or ImCon, was a super-secret government program using artificial intelligence to scour classified servers operated by intelligence agencies and the military, searching for data on UAP encounters. Brown, a former border patrol agent, told Corbell that he had first informed his superiors about the UAP monitoring program but wasn’t taken seriously. That’s when he decided to go public, releasing never-before-seen UFO footage shot on military cameras.

On June 6, 2025, Brown posted a cryptic message on his X account. His X post was directed at Elon Musk, who, at the time, was having a public feud with Trump. They were bickering back and forth on social media over the so-called Big Beautiful Bill, being legislated in Congress. Brown had some words of advice for Musk:

“Hey @elonmusk, interested in a real asymmetric advantage to wield in this political adventure you have started? As you now know, the @WhiteHouse has long possessed a unique AI capable of accurately predicting a range of future events. Talk about some stiff opposition!”

He goes on to say:

“Still, you have played a marvelous catch-up game in this area, despite being caught unawares (h/t). So how about something else, maybe @ENERGY and propulsion? Getting to Mars will require Sirius amounts of both, and rockets feel so 1947 to me, don’t they to you?”

There’s more to the post – a lot more – which includes odd images as well as a cryptic sign-off: A.B.O.R.Y.M.O.N. We’re not sure if Musk or anyone else, for that matter, understands the meaning of Brown’s message. Naturally, internet sleuths were determined to get to the bottom of it. Someone tracked an attached image to a screenshot from a video appearing on a YouTube channel. In that video, the explanation for the word A.B.O.R.Y.M.O.N. is revealed.

Frater Eleftheria is the content creator behind the YouTube channel ‘Lifting the Lamp’ that explores a variety of esoteric topics, including philosophy, mysticism, hidden secrets of religion, and the nature of consciousness. He is an avid practitioner of angelic magic and Western esotericism, with over 16 years of experience in several orders, including the O.T.O. and A.’.A.’.

Frater Eleftheria noticed sometime in June when one of his videos went viral as a result of the hoopla generated by Brown’s tweet. ‘Lifting the Lamp’ subsequently posted a new YouTube video explaining the meaning behind the cryptic message and how it relates to the occult technology behind UAPs.

He begins with Brown’s username on X – Son of Ambramelin. ‘Lifting the Lamp’ observes that this is a direct nod to The Book of Abramelin, a key text in Western mysticism that has influenced groups and figures from the Golden Dawn to Aleister Crowley. The book is an instructional manual for contacting one’s Holy Guardian Angel. Clearly, such a reference like that was no accident.

What about the name A.B.O.R.Y.M.O.N. that Brown signs the post with? According to ‘Lifting the Lamp’, it is an angelic name buried within the outer ring of the Sigillum Dei Aemeth, a magical disc John Dee used to communicate with higher intelligences. ‘Lifting the Lamp’ mentions that this name was lost for centuries and was only recently recovered. A.B.O.R.Y.M.O.N., then, is a spirit of chaos hitherto kept under divine control, to be unleashed at the end times to usher in the Apocalypse.

It can be speculated that Brown’s references to the occult are perhaps his way of sending a layered message, suggesting that UAPs are not just physical craft from outer space but beings from another dimension that can be contacted via the mind using methods similar to John Dee’s “scrying.” In Dee’s time, these beings were called angels, but today, they are known as UFOs and aliens.

Who was John Dee? Tumble further down the rabbit hole and you’ll find that the first agent of the British crown designated 007 was a strange mystical figure named John Dee. Dee (1527-1609) was a mathematician, occultist, and royal astrologer to Queen Elizabeth I. By the time of the Queen’s coronation in 1558, Dee had become Elizabeth’s closest personal adviser. He would counsel Her Majesty on everything from science to nautical navigation. Dee was a staunch imperialist and is actually credited with coining the phrase “British Empire.”

When corresponding with the Queen, Dee would sign his name “007.” The zeroes symbolised two eyes, indicating the letter was for the Queen’s eyes only. Seven is considered a lucky number in occultism, offering protection to those marked by it. Such protection was certainly needed by Queen Elizabeth, who was constantly under threat from conspiracy plots, especially after the Pope declared her an illegitimate ruler in 1570. However, these plots were usually crushed by her formidable secret service, which included John Dee.

Dee’s numerous journeys across Europe for spiritual conferences were actually covert intelligence missions for the Queen. As enigmatic as Dee was, his assistant Edward Kelley was a far stranger character. He claimed that angels would dictate books through Kelley using an angelic language called Enochian. Dee confided in Kelley, and together they used the Enochian cipher to communicate with interdimensional beings whom Dee believed would ultimately bring great benefits to mankind and, in particular, the Crown.

A few centuries later, occultist Aleister Crowley claimed that he was the reincarnation of Edward Kelley. Some suspected Crowley of being a secret agent, although he wasn’t associated with “007,” preferring “666” instead. Like his predecessor, Crowley was obsessed with contacting interdimensional beings. In Magic Without Tears, Crowley writes:

“My observation of the universe convinces me that there are beings of intelligence and power of a higher quality than anything we can conceive of as human; that they are not necessarily based on the cerebral and nervous structures that we know; and that the one and only chance for mankind to advance as a whole is for individuals to make contact with such Beings.”

In 1918, while living in an apartment in Greenwich Village, New York, Crowley might have succeeded in doing just that. During a ritual magick ceremony – the Amalantrah Working – Crowley contacted an interdimensional being called Lam. From this, he created a remarkable portrait, as it resembles a grey alien, possibly the first depiction of a grey alien in modern times. 

In the original drawing of Lam, Crowley depicts an entity wearing a type of headdress, or perhaps a crown. The crown is a type of Ankh, and according to occultist Kenneth Grant, the King, or ‘he who wears the crown,’ wears it to denote royalty (reality). That is, the Royalty of Existence. Thus, Lam also represents the “Crowned and Conquering Child” of Thelema, which Crowley’s The Book of the Law prophesies to manifest upon the earth. But this does not necessarily signify a human child. Indeed, it is Hoor-paar-kraat, or dwarf-god, symbol of the “Aeon of Horus.” A being not of this earth nor even of this dimension. It is depicted as a child because it is essentially sexless or, rather, has potential for either sex. Similarly, grey aliens have been noted for being sexless.

Kenneth Grant was a young scholar when he started working as Crowley’s personal assistant in 1944. The Beast, who had just turned 70, was far from his prime. Having long squandered his vast inheritance, Crowley was now living in a Sussex boarding house, broke and addicted to drugs. Crowley paid for Grant’s secretarial duties with the gold coin of the realm – knowledge and magical instruction. Grant had free roam of the Magus’ vast library. The two performed ceremonial magic workings, and after a time, Grant was initiated into the O.T.O. by Crowley himself. Crowley soon realised that Grant was, or would become, a heavyweight in his own right. In his diaries, Crowley wrote: “Value of Grant. If I die or go to the USA, there must be a trained man to take care of the English O.T.O.”

In June 1945, Grant parted ways with Crowley, and as a farewell gesture, Crowley offered him one of his paintings. He only needed to decide which one. Grant chose the portrait of Lam. It was a wise choice, as Grant would go on to use the portrait as the foundation for his new magical system – Typhonian O.T.O. In Typhonian O.T.O., the focus was on “construction of a magical formula” to establish communion and contact with “the Magical Entity known as Lam.” To achieve this, Grant wrote ‘The Lam Statement’, with Crowley’s portrait of Lam being used as a “Yantra,” or visual focal point, where “entry may be effected by projecting consciousness through the eyes.” The name Lam, in turn, would serve as the mantra. A magical procedure was then set forth for invoking Lam and “entering the egg.” The procedure is as follows:

1. Sit in silence before the portrait.

2. Invoke mentally by silent repetition of the Name.

3. If response is felt to be positive, but not before, enter the Egg and merge with That which is within and look out through the entity’s eyes on what appears now to the votary an alien world. (Adumbrations of identity with Lam may be experienced as a strong sense of the unreality, or unfamiliarity, of the ‘objective’ universe.)

4. Seal the Egg, i.e. close the eyes of Lam and await developments.

5. At the first sign of stress or fatigue, return to mundane consciousness by opening the eyes and by oozing out of the Egg in a form determined by the experiences within.

6. Perform, astrally, the Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram of Earth, at the Eight Spaces, and record all experiences in detail, paying particular attention to lunar phases (celestial and, where applicable, terrestrial), and any physiological phenomena accompanying the experience.

The most important part of ‘The Lam Statement’ and Crowley’s Amalantrah Working is that contact with an extraterrestrial entity, rather than being a passive event, can be an act of will, initiated by a human. Ufologists call this a Close Encounter of the 5th Kind (CE5). This method shares many similarities with the practices of CSETI (Centre for the Study of Extraterrestrial Intelligence), led by Dr Steven M. Greer, which employs specific protocols, including “thought,” to establish contact with aliens. Curiously, this technique, known as Coherent Thought Sequencing, was discovered in 1973, around the same time (1972) that ‘The Lam Statement’ was published. 

Additionally, occultists believe these techniques are ways to open or close portals for interdimensional travel. Trans-dimensional entities known as the Grey Ones have manifested through this Occult Typhonian Order Current. However, Grant claimed that Crowley sealed this transmission line by way of the portrait of Lam, who is the leader of the Grey Ones. Why have sightings of the ‘Grey Ones’ been common since the late 20th century? Grant believes it is the direct result of the Babylon Workings in 1946.

In 1946, rocket scientist Jack Parsons, a disciple of Crowley, performed the Babylon Working, a continuation of the Amalantrah Working. This, according to occultists, resulted in yet another interdimensional portal opening or perhaps even a widening of the gateway first discovered by Crowley.

In the Babylon Working, Parsons wasn’t trying to contact Lam, but rather, the Whore of Babylon herself, which would help him summon a Moon Child. Apparently, someone forgot to close the door behind them. Certainly, 1947 saw, in UFO terms, all hell break loose, starting with the Kenneth Arnold UFO sightings over Mt. Rainier, Washington, on June 24, 1947. And then, of course, later that summer, the notorious Roswell, New Mexico, alleged UFO crash and retrieval of alien bodies. Ever since, a steady stream of UFO sightings has occurred.

Frater Eleftheria, on his YouTube channel ‘Lifting the Lamp’, believes that Mathew Brown was goading Elon Musk into investigating UAP technology with the tweet “rocket fuel feels so 1947 to me, don’t they to you?” Rocket fuel is a direct reference to Jack Parsons, who pioneered the development of solid rocket fuel. This paved the way for the American space program, which led to the Moon landing, the Space Shuttle, Mars Rovers, and much more. Indeed, the foundation for Elon Musk and his SpaceX program can be directly linked to Jack Parsons. 

“1947” in turn refers to the year that the UFOs entered our system through Parson’s Babylon Working. This ritual involved Enochian invocations to usher in a New Aeon or the End Times. As well, they were performed in the Mojave Desert, which happens to be where Area 51 is located – a place notorious for UFO sightings. In this way, Brown connects the year 1947 with rocketry, UFOs, and the occult. 

History has demonstrated that there is an overlap between UFO encounters and spiritual experiences. Modern techniques for contacting UFOs, such as the CE5 protocols of Steven Greer, resemble occult practices of Crowley and the scrying techniques of John Dee. As well, there are records of intelligence agencies attempting to communicate with interdimensional beings. Religious accounts of angels suggest we have had UAP contact for thousands of years. The key point is that contact can be achieved through telepathy, and with proper understanding and training, we have the technology to do so at our fingertips.

In 2020, just as the first term of his presidency was ending, Donald Trump mandated the release of classified UFO documents from US intelligence agencies. Despite numerous witness hearings held in the US Congress and the establishment in 2022 of AARO, the US government’s All-Domain Anomaly Research Office, the public has yet to learn anything new. The question the world needs to ask is: why haven’t those documents been made available?

AARO is not the USA’s first official UFO investigation body. That honour belongs to ‘Project Saucer’, established by the US Air Force in 1948 to deal with the surge of sightings that followed Kenneth Arnold’s infamous ‘flying saucer’ sighting in June 1947 and the UFO crash at Roswell, New Mexico, also in 1947. One year later, ‘Project Saucer’ morphed into ‘Project Sign’, which was tasked with determining whether some UFOs could be spaceships from another world.

It is often said that the modern era of Ufology began when Arnold reported his seminal sighting. UFOs were, of course, reported much earlier, but those sightings were easier for authorities to ignore. By 1947, when UFOs started crashing and when the media had attained a global reach, the authorities realised that something undesirable was occurring and that action needed to be taken. 1947 should have marked the start of an exciting chapter in UFO research; instead, it signified the beginning of the cover-up – or what others might refer to as the UFO conspiracy.

Initially, at least, the team at Project Sign was of the opinion that some UFOs were “real aircraft” of “unfamiliar configuration,” and delivered a report titled ‘Estimate of the Situation’ that included the statement that “based on the evidence…UFOs were alien spacecraft,” and “if there is an extraterrestrial civilisation which can make such objects… then it is most probable that its development is far in advance of ours. This argument can be supported on probability alone, without recourse to astronomical hypothesis.”

Despite these initial and somewhat promising findings, in 1948, a fly named General Hoyt Vandenburg landed in the ointment. Vandenburg removed UFOs from the public domain by declaring that UFOs were a military problem, a change in classification that led to the wholesale withholding of information from the public and initiated the active dissemination of disinformation. Vandenburg also instituted a policy that “the interplanetary hypothesis” was to be excluded from consideration.

In 1949, Project Sign concluded and Project Grudge began, announcing that the US Air Force “had solved all UFO sightings.” This pronouncement was patently premature, as UFOs continued to be reported, indicating that the issue had clearly not been resolved. Grudge subsequently evolved into Project Blue Book, which became the public face of US Air Force UFO research.

Project Blue Book commenced in 1952 and continued until January 1970. Blue Book was the longest (as far as we know) government UFO research project in the United States, and its status remained top secret for decades. At its beginning, Blue Book was led by Captain Edward J. Ruppelt, who was known to be open-minded about the subject. The famous Dr. J. Allen Hynek was appointed as Blue Book’s technical advisor. Although he had also served as an advisor on Projects Grudge and Sign and was notoriously sceptical at first, a number of inexplicable UFO sightings changed Hynek’s mind. He went on to develop the “close encounter” system (CE 1-3), and Ruppelt later wrote a book called The Report on Unidentified Flying Objects.

These were the best years of Blue Book’s life according to reports because the personnel pursued the topic with open minds. Despite this open-mindedness, Blue Book was hampered in its research from day one. Vandenburg’s earlier rejection of the ‘interplanetary hypothesis’ during Project Sign meant that an undercurrent of hostility towards the subject permeated all levels of the Air Force, and it is contended that not all UFO reports or data were made available to Blue Book for study. It is almost certain that they had no physical evidence to work with, despite the purported UFO crash at Roswell and a second crash at Aztec, New Mexico, in 1948.

Using the limited sightings data they had access to (not enough, according to Hynek, to come to any kind of conclusion), in 1955 Project Blue Book announced in their “Special Report No. 14” that the “majority of [UFO] reports could be accounted for as misinterpretations of known objects, a few as the result of mild hysteria, and a very few as the result of unfamiliar meteorological phenomena and light aberrations. However, a significant number of reports by reliable observers remained unexplained.”

After establishing a sightings categorisation system that included all the usual suspects – balloons, clouds, stars, ball lightning, swamp gas, and ‘psychological manifestations’ (which included such things as religious fanaticism, over-active imaginations, and mental aberrations) – the Air Force found that the category of unknowns accounted for 9% of sightings, which was far too many for comfort. They therefore decided that better reporting skills were required, which resulted in the development of new investigation tools and the delegation of UFO investigations to just one squadron. This strategy concentrated the responsibility for UFO research into the hands of a tiny group of people and reduced the field of ‘unknowns’ to a minuscule 3%, after which the USAF confidently declared it was “improbable that [UFOs] represent observations of technological developments outside the range of present-day scientific knowledge.”

Despite the declared “improbability” of UFOs being outside the range of 1950s scientific knowledge (oh, the ego!), the 3% of unknowns weighed heavily on Blue Book’s minds. To combat this, it was decided to develop categories for the unknowns in an attempt to construct a “model of a flying saucer.” This proved entirely impossible, because out of the 3% of sightings deemed ‘unknown’, the variety of reported UFO shapes and sizes – boomerangs, saucers, spheres, cross and cigar shapes – foiled the attempt and led to the conclusion that this wide variety represented “observations of not one but several classes of objects that might have been flying saucers.” [Emphasis added.]

Enter the CIA

In 1952, while Blue Book’s Special Report No. 14 was still in progress, a discussion paper titled “Flying Saucers” was being distributed at the CIA. This discussion paper dismissed civilian UFO sightings as “temperature inversions” and “ionised clouds,” while also highlighting the most sensational military UFO encounters of the time – the death of Captain Thomas F. Mantell and the “Fargo dog fight.”

Mantell died when his aircraft crashed while attempting to intercept a UFO out of Godman Field, Kentucky, in January 1948. The Fargo dogfight occurred over Fargo, North Dakota, also in 1948, when a moving light was pursued for over 20 minutes by a Lieutenant Gorman at 17,000 feet. At that time, USAF pilots had been ordered to intercept UFOs with a mandate not to shoot. In 1953, it actually became “a crime for military personnel to discuss classified UFO reports with unauthorised persons. Violations faced up to two years in prison and/or fines of up to $10,000.”

The CIA discussion paper categorised the types of UFOs commonly reported during the late 1940s and very early 1950s. Mirroring exactly the types of UFOs still seen today, the paper described daytime sightings of spherical and elliptical objects with ‘bright metallic’ lustres, “some small (2 or 3 feet across), most estimated at 100 feet in diameter, and a few 1000 feet wide.” They went on to describe variants in this group such as “torpedos, triangles, pencils, [and] even mattress shapes.”

Even the night-time UFOs haven’t changed over the years, and the CIA reported lights “of various luminosities, such as green, flaming-red or blue-white fire balls, moving points of lights and luminous streamers.” Speed and manoeuvrability remain unchanged from present-day sightings, with “three general levels of speed” listed – “hovering; moderate; …and stupendous, up to 18,000 miles per hour. Violent manoeuvring was reported… and accelerations have been given as high as 20 g’s.”

Compared to the information found in the Blue Book report, the CIA either knew more about UFOs than the Air Force did or was simply more forthcoming with its information. An Intelligence Directive from the National Security Council that accompanied the CIA discussion paper authorised the CIA Director “to carry out a program of research to solve the problem of instant positive identification of UFOs” and “to coordinate this directive with the Department of Defense and the Psychological Strategy Board.”

The main sticking point seemed to be the inability of military authorities to adequately discern “hardware from phantom.” It was 1952, during the Cold War, and Russian tensions were mounting. The ability to identify a real threat (the Russians) from a non-threat (UFOs) was becoming an increasing concern. But even worse than this threat was the one represented by the general public, as the CIA believed that a “fair proportion of our population is mentally conditioned to the acceptance of the incredible,” and this could lead to the “touching-off of mass hysteria and panic.” To combat this, the CIA recommended that a “national policy should be established as to what should be told the public.” The CIA requested that the National Security Council commence its own research into the UFO problem, again with the input of the “Psychological Strategy Board.” This last measure was taken because the CIA had determined that “flying saucers pose two elements of danger which have national security implications. The first involves mass psychological implications, and the second concerns the vulnerability of the United States to air attack.”

The Robertson Panel

The conflation of mass psychology with national security continued into 1953, when a January memo from the CIA documented an advisory meeting to discuss its proposed strategy. This was the infamous Robertson Panel, which included Howard P. Robertson (Director of the Weapons Evaluation Group) as the chair, along with CIA officers, astrophysicists, nuclear weapons experts, and Professor J. Allen Hynek, who had been a consultant to Blue Book. External consultants included J. Robert Oppenheimer and Albert Einstein.

This esteemed panel made several unusual suggestions for addressing the UFO “problem.” They announced that “there was no single explanation for a majority of the things seen” and “no evidence of a direct threat to national security.” However, they believed they should not encourage any public interest in UFOs as it was “possibly dangerous in having a military service foster public concern in ‘nocturnal meandering lights’.”

To this end, the Scientific Advisory Panel recommended the establishment of an ‘Educational Program’ that “should have two major aims: training and debunking,” which “would result in reduction in public interest” in UFOs. Or, in their own words, “reduce the current gullibility of the public in ‘flying saucers’ which today evokes a strong psychological reaction.” Somewhat insidiously, this debunking would be achieved via “mass media such as television, motion pictures, and popular articles.”

The Panel “felt strongly” that “psychologists familiar with mass psychology should advise on the nature and extent of the program,” and UFO research organisations were also in the crosshairs, as it was believed that “such organisations should be watched because of their potentially great influence on mass thinking if widespread sightings should occur.”

The Never-Ending Story

Back in 1953, this ‘education program’ was given an estimated timeframe of effectiveness of 1.5 to 2 years, by which time the CIA and USAF believed it would have figured out flying saucers and solved the problem. However, as we have seen, the ‘program’ has been in effect every year ever since, the ‘problem’ has not gone away, and to this day UFO research has been hampered by 70 years of media-driven ‘education’ imposed upon the citizens of the Western world by the combined forces of the USA’s intelligence organisations. These insidious measures were instituted by a group of select individuals who somehow managed to marshal the forces of authority, along with the unconscious forces of the human psyche, as weapons of mass manipulation.

Aside from the existence of an actual policy put in place to debunk UFOs, one could argue that ‘operant conditioning’ has also been at play. Operant conditioning is defined as “a process of changing behaviour by rewarding or punishing a subject each time an action is performed until the subject associates the action with pleasure or distress.” Regarding UFOs, there has thus far been no associated pleasure at all, but the apportioning of distress is unparalleled. As we have seen, members of the military have historically been threatened with hefty fines or jail time if they discussed classified material such as UFOs, and in more recent years, they have been threatened with losing their status and positions. For members of the general public, ridicule and social isolation have been the primary punishments, along with a decline in social status if they dared to speak too enthusiastically about their interests.

For the most egregious transgressors, erasure from history is the punishment of choice. Witness the recent case of Harald Malmgren, a former presidential advisor who made a deathbed confession that he had not only handled UFO material but that extraterrestrial beings – “biologics” – had survived the Roswell crash. For this transgression, his Wikipedia page has been maliciously ‘updated’ and all references to his historical role on Capitol Hill have been erased.

Even the staff at Project Blue Book were not immune to this conditioning – victims, ironically, of their own hype. Blue Book continued for another 15 years after it published ‘Special Report No. 14’, but its rotating roster of commanding officers became increasingly hostile towards UFO research and showed every indication they had succumbed to their own educational program by dismissing the UFO phenomenon while actively researching it.

The UFO cover-up has been a meticulously planned strategy, born during the Cold War when the unchecked power of the newly formed arms of the US intelligence community discovered that mass media, combined with predictive psychology, could serve as a powerful tool for societal control. When Blue Book ceased operations in January 1970, the ‘education program’ had done its job, and the populace had become dismissive of flying saucers and little green men. But while Blue Book was dead, it seems that somewhere at the CIA, the dream lived on.

The Conspiracy Continues

Two years after President Trump’s 2020 mandate to release all classified UFO information, the All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) was established. A small selection of AARO’s stated duties includes surveillance, analysis, governance, mitigation, and defeat. Is that mitigation and defeat of UFOs or mitigation and defeat of the public’s belief in UFOs? As if in answer to that question, in February 2025 AARO released a document that claimed to have resolved the mystery of the unidentified object filmed by the US Navy in the ‘Go Fast’ video.

The ‘Go Fast’ video, filmed in 2015 but not released to the public until 2020, made great waves when it first hit social media, as it came on the heels of the infamous ‘Tic-Tac’ video. Filmed by a US Navy F/A-18 aircraft travelling at an altitude of 13,000 feet off the coast of Florida, the ‘Go Fast’ video showed a spherical object travelling at an estimated 252 knots (2466 kilometres) per hour in the crosshairs of a FLIR (Forward Looking Infrared) camera.

Analysis by AARO utilising complex trigonometry and the effects of parallax (an optical effect caused by the position of an object when viewed along differing lines of sight) resulted in the declaration that the ‘Go Fast’ UFO was not going fast at all, “did not demonstrate anomalous performance characteristics,” and was instead travelling a mere 8 to 148 kilometres per hour with a boost from the wind that might have pushed it as fast as 259 kilometres per hour. And despite being unable to accurately measure the size of the object due to the poor resolution of the footage, AARO decreed that the object was a mere “one metre or less in size – comparable to a small drone or bird.”

This peculiarly confident conclusion, which involved counting pixels to estimate the object’s size, reconstructing winds from 10-year-old weather data, and disregarding the ability of professional military pilots to gauge the speeds of other aerial objects, absurdly fails to consider the fact that just because a UFO is not flying fast does not mean it is not a UFO!

This tactic is straight out of Blue Book – not so much dredged out of the 1950s, but rather lovingly maintained for generation after generation. And if drones had been around in 1952, you can bet your bottom dollar Blue Book would have been using them as scapegoats, much like authorities are using them today. Unfortunately, the AARO report suggests that despite its stated objective to openly and honestly investigate UFOs, AARO plans to continue on the well-worn path of obfuscation (where possible) and outright denial (as a last resort) in order to maintain UFO secrecy. And if all that fails, they will bamboozle us with science and swamp gas.

UFOs are Boring

As an aside, Blue Book’s ‘Special Report No. 14’ highlighted a unique type of ennui that set in during their flying saucer investigation. After reviewing reams of reports, they described how “the feeling that ‘saucers’ are real fades, and is replaced by a feeling of scepticism regarding their existence. The reader eventually reaches a point of saturation, after which the reports contain no new information and are no longer of any interest. This feeling of surfeit was universal among the personnel who worked on this project.”

This effect could already be in play within the AARO team and may also affect the public at large. It might also explain the sudden loss of interest in the recent ‘drone’ phenomena on behalf of the public and perhaps even on the part of the authorities.

Towards the end of November 2024, footage of objects that appeared variously as drones, bright lights, orbs, jellyfish, triangles, and dark UFOs began to circulate on social media. Initially reported from a town in New Jersey, sightings from all over the USA and other parts of the world started to flood the internet. Despite some clear footage showing anomalous UFO activity, the censorship machine kicked into high gear, and the government, military, and mainstream media issued consistent messaging reminiscent of the CIA’s ‘education program’. They maintained that the ‘drones’ posed no danger to the public, asserting that these mysterious objects were merely planes, helicopters, or misidentified stars and planets. Shortly after, all discussion of the mystery drones abruptly stopped, even though they continued to be seen and reported by a confused public.

The Never-Ending Deception

The combined forces of US intelligence agencies have evolved into adept media manipulators, enacting PSYOPS (psychological operations) on populations while disseminating misinformation, disinformation, conspiracy ‘theories’, and outright lies. The US military-industrial complex has eagerly climbed aboard this train and has been concealing its new and nascent technologies behind the cloak of UFOs, using ridicule to further obscure the topic. This situation has not changed despite the establishment of AARO, which seems to have been given a copy of the Air Force playbook and is now happily regurgitating the same old strategies. Despite recent attempts by US Senators to introduce a UAP Disclosure Act (UAPDA), it has failed to materialise due to political manoeuvring behind the scenes, along with the machinations of influential players in the military-industrial complex who will do anything to maintain the current status quo.

The sad reality is that despite 70 years of research, we still don’t know anything about UFOs. After generations of assiduous psychological assault, operant conditioning, and outright gaslighting, the besieged and bewildered public can be forgiven for retreating behind a wall of dismissal and disinterest. This disinterest is global in nature, and we see it playing out daily in numerous arenas – health, politics, finance, and education, to name a few. As long as the government tells us everything is okay, we have nothing to worry about, right? …Errr… right?

When you have a few billion dollars and fervently believe in the promise of Transhumanism, not just the world but the Solar System and the entire Galaxy appear to be full of threats. When you are certain that immortality is within your grasp and are planning on building a multiplanetary civilisation exclusively for the 1%, your problems aren’t on the level of paying the bills or getting a job – they’re on the scale of an alien invasion – an extraterrestrial takeover of your assets. You fear you’ve only won a game being played inside a Machine Simulation with Artificial Intelligence arising to challenge your dominance.¹ 

This is why the World’s Elite – the Plutocrats – are heavily investing in the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI),² under the Breakthrough Listen initiative, but cautioning against making Contact with them (Contacting Extraterrestrial Intelligence or CETI). Why they’re not just building a private (plutocratic) space program, but trying to set up asteroid-detecting infrastructure, such as the Sentinel Space Telescope.³ And most recently of all: launching a non-profit artificial intelligence group, OpenAI,⁴ that exists solely to balance out the private research of Google and Facebook, all in the name of “benefiting humanity.” Noticeably led by their spokesperson, Elon Musk, these billionaires and their helpers are intent on creating an entirely new civilisation that will cross space and span worlds; all whilst the Earth and the majority of its population dies off. This is not a coincidence. Far from it. 

The thesis I have been developing – an alternate narrative for not just our present situation, but one that also explains events of the past few decades – I call “The Plutocratic Exit Strategy.” It points to an ongoing alliance between corporate and military powers to create a Breakaway Civilisation (if such a thing doesn’t already exist). One that unites the world of Classified Technology with the efforts of Silicon Valley to create an ultra high tech, post-carbon series of walled cities across the planet – and soon off it – that will function as a single society connected via new methods of transport such as the Hyperloop and Space X’s Falcon rockets. 

Just as high ranking Nazis covertly travelled to countries in South America once they knew they were losing the war, so these people that have profited from polluting and destroying the Earth are setting in place the means to start over on Mars, or elsewhere. And UFOs provide the perfect means to cover their escape. This is the more sinister side of their sudden interest in not just SETI, but how people might react to Contact (or Disclosure).

A False Flag Alien Invasion has long been touted as one means by which a New World Order could instantly establish its dominance over the Earth. The existence of such a plan has been attributed to the death bed confessions of (former Nazi scientist and later American space program pioneer) Wernher von Braun as the final stage in long term plans to engineer a planetary takeover on demand. It would supposedly unite the globe under a single government as the citizens of the world cower in fear of the sudden arrival of clearly superior technology, almost magical UFOs – craft that are actually the advanced prototype vehicles of this Breakaway Civilisation. It’s unquestionably a clever strategy, but it presupposes that the goal is merely to control our home planet and its people. It makes for an even more cunning plan if – all in plain sight – the rich, and all the loot they’ve gathered, make their way off-world under the cover of ‘Alien Motherships’ arriving and departing over various major cities. 

It’s an idea that’s long lurked within Science Fiction (SF). We can illustrate it by referencing Arthur C. Clarke’s novel Childhood’s End and see elements of it about to be on display in the TV show Colony. If these billionaires are already in the process of realising their Space Age fantasies of having their own rockets and travelling to other planets, how are we to know where they’ll stop in drawing from the well of Golden Age SF to achieve their agenda? Most importantly for the rest of us: just by being aware of the possibility of such a scenario we’re less likely to fall for such an act of misdirection in the greatest getaway ever attempted.

“That sounds just a little complicated to me,” said Stormgren, beginning to take slight interest.

“What I mean is this,” Van Ryberg continued eagerly. “I think that physically they’re human beings like us. They realise that we’ll tolerate being ruled by creatures we imagine to be – well, alien and super-intelligent. But the human race being what it is, it just won’t be bossed around by creatures of the same species.”

The effectiveness of using a False Flag Alien Invasion to cower the majority of the human population – not that they actually said it aloud – formed part of the conclusion of the classic Brooking’s Report released at the end of 1960: “Proposed Studies on the Implications of Peaceful Space Activities for Human Affairs.”⁵ Its famous warning about the resultant collapse likely to result from First Contact, derived from Margaret Mead’s study of ‘primitive societies’, stated:

Anthropological files contain many examples of societies, sure of their place in the universe, which have disintegrated when they have had to associate with previously unfamiliar societies espousing different ideas and different life ways; others that survived such an experience usually did so by paying the price of changes in its values and attitudes and behaviour.

There’s a passage above this one that’s even more interesting:

The discovery would certainly be front-page news everywhere: the degree of political or social repercussion would probably depend on leader’s interpretation of (1) its own role, (2) threats to that role and (3) national and personal opportunities to take advantage of the disruption or reinforcement of the attitudes and values of others.

It’s literally all there in that third part: national and personal opportunities to take advantage of the disruption. To use the term popularised by Naomi Klein in her work on Disaster Capitalism, an effective False Flag Alien Invasion enables the implementation of the ultimate Shock Doctrine strategy.

Here’s how one could do so, if they were so inclined… Here’s what to watch for, if we want to catch them in the act:

Hover some tricked out, mocked up ‘Alien Motherships’ over the cities you want to control, then quickly 3D-print formidable walls around the key pieces of territory you want to control. Bring out all the classified trillion dollar toys – such as drones of all shapes and sizes and abilities far beyond what’s been seen before – to patrol the now “alien governed” city state and maintain that overwhelming presence. Send out the mad science creatures conjured in the lab with the genetic engineering technology, CRISPR, and whatever else they built. Create a fully mythic menagerie to showcase your mastery over nature and crank the Wow Factor up to 11.

In the recent essay “CRISPR Critters and CRISPR Cracks,” two geneticists write that we shouldn’t be surprised at all to soon learn about “the billionaire who decides to give his 12-year-old daughter a real unicorn for her birthday”:

Basic physics will almost certainly combine with biological constraints to prevent the creation of flying dragons or fire-breathing dragons – but a very large reptile that looks at least somewhat like the European or Asian dragon (perhaps even with flappable if not flyable wings) could be someone’s target of opportunity.⁶

What technomagical NeoFeudal takeover is complete without dragon simulacra? Or, to mark the full conquest of Earth, and test the psychological takeover of humanity, introduce the secretive rulers of the world to be… the Devil. This is another pro-tip provided in Childhood’s End.

There was no mistake. The leathery wings, the little horns, the barbed tail – all were there. The most terrible of all legends had come to life, out of the unknown past. Yet now it stood smiling, in ebon majesty, with the sunlight gleaming upon its tremendous body, and with a human child resting trustfully on either arm. (Childhood’s End)

An especially useful tactic if one is implementing an inversion of the Man-Behind-The-Man trope,⁷ “in which case a person you thought was the Big Bad’s crony turns out to be the real Big Bad.”⁸

Do this all before the people have any chance to react, let alone rebel, and the Technocratic Takeover is instantaneous. No one is wise to the fact that a Breakaway Civilisation just annexed them. Instead, the bulk of humanity will just see wonders and miracles appear from beyond the Wall, and think themselves privy to a new Golden Age dawning upon the Earth – never knowing that the Wall is nothing more than the curtain from The Wizard of Oz and it’s all a cheap trick meant to dazzle and distract. Cheap when you’ve already sequestered the spoils of the Earth, safe and secure and guarded by humans happy to collaborate.

Next, set up Exclusion Zone buffers between the borders of the city state and the areas where the rest of the human population reside. Controlling access by Breakaway Civilisation non-citizens (aka the 99%) and serving as a launching point for various species of “alien craft” to go out and do as their will. Taking the remaining resources of the planet required to fulfil their unknowable “alien agenda,” be that minerals, technology or people. Such a strategy enables the further destruction of the planet under the cover of the acts of an ‘Extraterrestrial Intelligence’. This is how the Plutocrats can further strip the planet of all its worth and set themselves up on Mars, or elsewhere. It could all be over before anyone wakes up to it.

This is, then, potentially, the final open act in a long term secret plan. As we’ve learned in recent months, the Oil Cartels have known since at least the late 1970s that the climate was being destroyed by their business activities. They even contemplated moving over to a new energy system at the time, but instead chose to spend the entire time since the 1990s fighting any and all attempts to curb their activities, and thus preserve their huge profits. The board members of companies such as Exxon are just the kind of customers SpaceX has in mind to fund the first stages of their interplanetary infrastructure roll-out. They’ll soon pay any price to make their escape from Earth, before the eco-holocaust trials begin.

If we can make reliable inferences from what knowledge is publicly available, they may be going faster and further than we first suspect. The reactionless EM Drive⁹ – initially dismissed by NASA, then proven by Chinese scientists – could be one means of propulsion that’s far more advanced than has been openly acknowledged. 

Incredible engineering projects of such an epic, inhuman scale are exactly what members of the think tanks favoured by the Plutocrats are contemplating. This was evidenced appropriately enough through recent discussion of a possible alien artefact: the partial Dyson Sphere touted as an explanation for the unusual observations of the star, KIC 8462852. Anders Sandberg, James Martin Research Fellow, Future of Humanity Institute & Oxford Martin School, University of Oxford, wrote on the subject:

To build a Dyson sphere, one would need to disassemble a nearby body, like a planet, to provide the material for the solar captors. In a recent paper written with a colleague, we calculated that disassembling Mercury to make a partial Dyson shellcould be done in 31 years. One way of doing this would be to mechanically disassemble the planet, much like we do in our aluminium and steel industries. From these industries, we know a lot already about the energy cost of such work, so the trick is to use already mined material to build more mining equipment and solar collectors to power it, achieving an exponential feedback loop.

The time it would take to disassemble any terrestrial planets is not much longer than for Mercury, while the gas giants would take a few centuries. Our aim in the paper was to show that using a small fraction of the resources in the solar system it is possible to harness enough energy to launch a massive space colonisation effort (literally reaching every reachable galaxy, eventually each solar system), but the important point is that this kind of planetary engineering is fast on astronomical timescales.¹⁰ (Emphasis added)

No question, then, that ‘great minds’ are at work on the problem of conquering the Galaxy within a few decades.

In the scenario I’m proposing, the ongoing seemingly ever escalating crisis afflicting the world isn’t being engineered to make humanity at large cry out for the arrival of a greater power to stabilise things at any cost. Instead, it’s the direct result of a planetary escape plan in motion. The chaos besetting the world is the mud and dust being kicked up as the Elite make one last grab for power and territory before running back and commencing their extraplanetary expansion. A slow motion apocalypse such as this doesn’t need to be fed or engineered for its own sake, it just naturally results from the neglect of the so-called Powers-That-Be; a leadership out for itself alone. Having long been initiated into the mechanics of their shared Exit Strategy, they can operate knowing they’ll soon have Walls to hide behind on Earth; and shortly after, beyond it.

A modest fleet size of just three craft, adopting Extraterrestrial characteristics, could be handily magnified across the globe with the use of a Project Blue Beam-style holographic technology mirroring it above other key cities. This is another thing that makes Childhood’s End look like an instruction manual for a technocratic coup.

There was only the single ship now, hanging above New York. Indeed, as the world had just discovered, the ships above Man’s other cities had never existed. The day before, the great fleet of the Overlords had dissolved into nothingness, fading like mists beneath the morning dew. The supply ships, coming and going far out in space, had been real enough; but the silver clouds that had hung for a lifetime above almost all the capitals of Earth had been an illusion. How it had been done, no one could tell, but it seemed that every one of those ships had been nothing more than an image of Karellen’s own vessel. Yet it had been far more than a matter of playing with light, for radar had also been deceived, and there were still men alive who swore that they had heard the shriek of torn air as the fleet came in through the skies of Earth. It was not important; all that mattered was that Karellen no longer felt the need for this display of force. He had thrown away his psychological weapons. (Emphasis added)

UFOs are the ultimate in shock & awe, as was discovered during the alien invasion (see the events of The Avengers etc) in the Marvel universe. Their secret aerospace program is actually the direct consequence of this. But they’re just movies, right? Nobody is telling secrets out of school… In reality, the public Space Race of the 21^st century is shaping up to be a showdown with China and Russia on one side and the Plutocratic Space Program on the other. NASA has already stated that it wants to hand over LEO (low-Earth orbit missions) to the corporations,¹¹ advancing its own activities to cislunar space. NASA has an Exit Strategy too, it’s just (publicly) more modest; first get established around the Moon and then start capturing asteroids.

Asteroid mining clearly lies on the horizon of industrialisation, and is just one of the big economic shake-ups coming. The problem remains how to cost-effectively get the trillions of dollars of minerals (by Earth standards) down to our planet. Just because there’s competing factions doesn’t necessarily mean we can expect the accidental destruction of a rival faction’s walled city. And yet any asteroid flying by the Earth gets an increasing amount of publicity, building up public perception of this threat… It may well be all part of the Plan.

The only thing worse than a False Flag Alien Invasion is multiple, simultaneous and competing False Flag Alien Invasions. Or full scale Total Cosmic War, as rival Breakaway Civilisations battle over the resources of not just Earth, but the Solar System and beyond. Each faction dismantling entire planets to create interstellar transport vehicles or armadas of weaponised starships. Reports of such space wars can be found in the ancient Hindu epics, the Mahabharata and the Ramayana. I can only pray there aren’t further volumes to be added in the future. Brighter tales of ecological restoration and space colonisation by 100% of humanity would be my preference.

Reports of Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs) have fascinated me since early childhood. I’ve spent many a night lying on the deck of my childhood home, staring at the sky and waiting – no, hoping – for something ‘strange’ to happen. As Jung wrote, UFOs are symbols of powerful processes in our obfuscated psyche, which explains people’s fascination with them.

Later in life, what was a childhood fascination became a more serious, scholarly interest. I’ve read much of the literature on UFOs just to become highly disillusioned with what people make of the phenomenon and the evidence. Today, I am very critical – even cynical – of much of what takes place within ‘UFOlogy’. I hold the opinion that the field is riddled with fantasies, delusions and outright deception aimed at commercial gain or personal fame. So much so that, if not for the work of one man – a voice of reason and integrity in a morass of hysteria – I would have dismissed the whole affair once and for all. This man is French UFO investigator Jacques Vallée.

What I find refreshing in Vallée’s work is his readiness to follow the evidence wherever it leads. Most ‘UFOlogists’ today seem to hold the opinion that UFOs are material spacecraft from another star system. This is the so-called ‘Extraterrestrial Hypothesis’ (ETH) and its motivations are clear: in a field already characterised by weirdness, the last thing investigators want is to compound the weirdness by proposing a hypothesis that doesn’t fit neatly into our mainstream materialist worldview. But the evidence doesn’t support the ETH at all. In Vallée’s own words:

The accumulated data base exhibits several patterns tending to indicate that UFOs are real, represent a previously unrecognised phenomenon, and that the facts do not support the common concept of ‘space visitors’. Five specific arguments… contradict the ETH: (1) unexplained close encounters are far more numerous than required for any physical survey of the earth; (2) the humanoid body structure of the alleged ‘aliens’ is not likely to have originated on another planet and is not biologically adapted to space travel; (3) the reported behaviour in thousands of abduction reports contradicts the hypothesis of genetic or scientific experimentation on humans by an advanced race; (4) the extension of the phenomenon throughout recorded human history demonstrates that UFOs are not a contemporary phenomenon; and (5) the apparent ability of UFOs to manipulate space and time suggests radically different and richer alternatives.

So if the ETH doesn’t hold up in view of the evidence, how else can we make sense of UFOs? I have extensively elaborated upon it in my earlier book Meaning in Absurdity. In this essay, I’d like to offer a different spin on my hypothesis.

Before I can do that, however, I need to share with you my view of the fundamental nature of reality: I believe all reality – including our bodies – is in consciousness, not consciousness in our bodies. As such, consensus reality is an imagined story emerging from obfuscated, collective parts of our psyches, like a shared dream. Our individual psyches are thus dissociated ‘alters’ of a single consciousness – which I call ‘mind-at-large’ – underlying all known and unknown reality. Consensus reality is a particular ‘dream’ of mind-at-large. I am well aware that this view sounds peculiar at first sight, but essays 2.1 and 2.2 of this book [Brief Peeks Beyond] substantiate it in depth. Here, all I ask is that you temporarily suspend your disbelief and entertain this view for the sake of argument.

If mind-at-large can dream an entire reality and also has the potential to split itself into dissociated alters, then nothing precludes the possibility that multiple dreams may be unfolding concurrently in mind-at-large. Allow me to unpack this: as mentioned above, each person is a dissociated alter of mind-at-large, partaking in a collective dream that we call consensus reality. Our individual psyches unite at a deep, obfuscated level, and the dream of consensus reality is imagined at that unified level. That’s why we are able to share the dream. But perhaps there are multiple, hierarchical, nested and parallel levels of dissociation and alter formation. Perhaps our individual psyches unite not at the ground level of mind-at-large, but at an intermediary level that is itself dissociated from other intermediary levels. We human beings may be alters of a meta-alter, and there may be multiple, parallel meta-alters in mind-at-large. As a matter of fact, there may be meta- meta-alters, and meta-meta-meta-alters, etc.

So the hypothesis is that, as our consensus reality is the dream of a meta-alter in mind-at-large, other meta-alters are having other dreams in parallel to ours. Each of those dissociated dreams is a reality in its own merit. Multiple, perhaps countless dreams are unfolding in the hierarchy of dissociation of mind-at-large, somewhat analogously to the parallel universes that physicists like to talk about. Each of these dreams has its own storyline: its own internal logic, physics, history and living inhabitants.

And here is where UFOs and ‘aliens’ come into the picture. Have you ever had a dream in which an event in the waking world penetrated the dream without waking you up immediately? For instance, I once went to sleep with the window of my hotel room open while on holidays abroad. In the middle of the night, while I lay asleep, there was a storm and some drops of rain began landing on my bare feet. The wind was also moving the curtains about, which caused some noise in the room. I was dreaming whilst this was happening. At some point in my dream, I found myself walking on a beach with my feet in the surf. The feeling of wetness on my real-life feet morphed seamlessly into the feeling of dragging my feet in the seawater. The sound of the wind and moving curtains inside my hotel room morphed seamlessly into the sound of waves breaking on the beach. I realised all this because I woke up in the middle of it and, for a few brief seconds, could simultaneously feel the surf and the raindrops landing on my feet; I could simultaneously hear the wind in the room and the waves on the beach. During those brief moments, I knew that these experiences, while different, were in a way also the same. The ‘dream’ of waking life had penetrated my nightly dream.

This is the key: dissociated dreams can perhaps – under exceptional, delicate circumstances – penetrate each other. Separate storylines can momentarily overlap and cross-influence one another. When that happens, the protruding element from a source storyline – say, the raindrops in my hotel room – gets ‘dressed up’ in an image that is amenable to integration into the destination storyline – that is, the surf in my dream. Indeed, there were no raindrops in my dream; just surf. There was no perceptible wind in my dream; just waves. The protruding element isn’t perceived as it appears in its source storyline, but in an alternative form characteristic of the storyline it penetrates. In a sense, the protruding element gets ‘hijacked’, co-opted by the narrative it penetrates so to become an integral part of it. Yet, the underlying, intrinsic attributes of the protruding element remain the same and are accommodated by the form it acquires in the destination storyline: the wetness of the raindrops was preserved in the form of surf; the oscillating, flowing sound of the wind and curtains was preserved in the form of waves. Although the form these protruding elements acquired inside my dream was very different than their original form, their intrinsic, fundamental attributes were preserved.

By now, I’m sure you’ve already guessed where I am going with this: what if UFOs and aliens are protruding elements of parallel ‘dreams’ unfolding in mind-at-large, which penetrate our consensus reality and acquire a form amenable to integration within it? It isn’t then surprising that this acquired form should resemble advanced versions of concepts we are familiar with and can place within our storyline: spaceships, anthropoid life forms, medical procedures, computer technology, etc. These acquired forms often look internally inconsistent, cartoonish or even absurd simply because they aren’t the original forms of the protruding elements; instead, they reflect a rather precarious accommodation, in our own storyline, of the intrinsic attributes of something that fundamentally transcends our logic and physics. Here, I suggest, lies the reason for the ‘high strangeness’ of UFO and so-called ‘alien abduction’ phenomena.

If even a very small percentage of reported UFO and ‘alien abduction’ cases are valid and accurate, we have no alternative but to envision rather unusual, speculative hypotheses for making sense of it. The high-strangeness character of the phenomenon demands no less and this is what I attempted to offer here. Alternatively, we can simply deem all the evidence to be invalid and sleep more easily at night.

Extraterrestrial Life: Implications for the Materialist Paradigm

There has been growing expectation among scientists that extraterrestrial microbial life will be discovered in our solar system within the next few decades, perhaps in one of the moons of Jupiter or Saturn. I’ve asked people close to me whether they thought this would be a paradigm-breaking event, and the response has been mostly in the ‘no’ camp. Such a reaction is completely understandable: scientists have been acknowledging for years that life may be common and widespread in the universe, so why would its discovery in a neighbouring celestial body break any paradigms? Nonetheless, I think we are overlooking something crucially important here, which has vast implications for how we look upon ourselves and reality at large.

Our culture’s mainstream view is that life is a mechanistic process explainable entirely by the known laws of physics. In other words, life is merely an epiphenomenon of dead matter. There is supposedly nothing to life but the same movements of subatomic particles behind erosion, crystallization, combustion, the weather, etc. As such, life is allegedly no different than erosion or crystallization, except in that metabolism operates faster. Biological organisms are mere ‘robots’, entirely analogous to a computer. Life is believed to have arisen by mere chance, through the random collisions of atoms and molecules in a primordial chemical soup on primitive Earth. So the question is: if biology were discovered in a celestial body next door, would that raise new and difficult questions for such a mechanistic view of life? I think it would.

Nobody knows today how life could emerge from dead matter. There are dozens of theories and even more loose avenues of speculation, but no one has ever managed to re-create life from dead matter – a process called ‘abiogenesis’ – in a laboratory. Therefore, there is just no proof that life could ever have arisen from non-life through purely mechanistic means. Yet, mechanistic abiogenesis is indispensible for materialism. Without it, materialism would fall apart, for it would fail to explain that which conceived materialism in the first place: human life.

The problem is that, not only do the different structures necessary for metabolism need to arise concurrently in an organism, very complicated mechanisms for the replication of these structures – that is, reproduction – need to arise along with them. Otherwise, life would pop into existence just to disappear again. Francis Crick, the Nobel Prize laureate and co-discoverer of DNA, once thought it impossible for the self-replication mechanisms essential to life to arise spontaneously, mechanistically, from a chemical soup on primitive Earth. He thought the complexity required was just too great. Although Crick later felt that he had been a little too pessimistic in his original assessment, the key point still stands: mechanistic abiogenesis, if at all possible, is extraordinarily unlikely.

Now, how does this tie in with the possible discovery of extraterrestrial microbial life? Well, if we were to find independently-arisen life in our immediate cosmic neighbourhood – right here, next door – the obvious implication would be that abiogenesis is a very common occurrence in the cosmos. After all, what are the chances that a rare event would happen, independently, twice within the same star system? But if it’s common, then life can’t be the kind of accidental, mechanistic phenomenon that it is purported to be by materialist science. Mechanistic abiogenesis, after all, can at best be extraordinarily rare; if at all possible. The discovery of a second instance of abiogenesis in our solar system would, therefore, force us to consider the possibility that life is the expression of yet-unrecognised but intrinsic organising principles in nature. It would force us to consider the possibility that nature is, in a way, meant to produce life. This, by any measure, would indeed be a paradigm-breaking conclusion.
